  2. As I recall, this thread was also intended as a "general chatter" thread to get everyone involved in the tournaments, and to spark some discussion about things.

So, to start off, with the Haunted Tournament on the horizon, here's a question: Do you believe in ghosts? Do you have a favorite ghostly myth? Know any folklore about ghosts that's not often discussed? Know any trivia about famous ghosts, or ghosts in your area? Any creepy trivia?

I know that I read a book once called Strange But True Florida that had just a few of the local ghost stories; I can't recall much of it at all now.

However, an interesting creepy fact (warning for guts): Bok Tower is a place around central Florida, famous for its old carillon and the gardens surrounding it. However, when it was first built, they intended for it to be a home for bats—so they crushed up bat organs in an attempt to lure more bats there. Uh, needless to say, it failed. xD
  3. I don't believe in ghosts. I'm skeptical with their existence. I mean, yeah, there was a sort of ritual to remove this supernatural creature from one's body that I saw when I was young but I really needed to see one.

But then again, if ghosts exist, I don't want to see them. I guess I believe the devils told by my religion and dismiss the ghost stories told by people.

I don't have a favorite ghost. They're all ugly and evil lol.
  4. I think My dad Brien is still around because Of the fact that my bedroom door opens itself in the dead of night and i feel someone sitting next to me and at times the right side of my face near my hairline will go cold for no apparent reason. When he hugs me im cold even in 100 degree weather. It's weird but it makes me feel a tad bit better.
  5. I think I believe in ghosts, but if they exist, I feel bad for them. Probably pretty lonely, weak half-things.
My favorite ghost story is about my friend who saw a glowing ball of light at the foot of her bed while she was staying over at a friend's house. The friend was not surprised-he knew his house was haunted.
I don't know many ghost stories- I don't have a gut of steel, I get pretty terrified of them. I wish I knew some, though, for this contest. Maybe I'll do some research ;)
  6. I don't believe in ghosts, but they've got to be fun to write about. My favorite ghost was probably the one my neighbor saw in a "haunted house", a bunch of white shapes. Turns out that there were cows hiding from the weather down there. XD
  7. Where is the logic in crushing bat organs to lure in more bats? That's like thinking Hmm... I really want more friends. I think I'll crush up my current friends' organs so that I can lure in more friends!
"Jerry, what're you doing?! Get off of me!"
    "I need more friends!"
"Why do you have a knife?!"
  8. Khatt, that's perfect xD

Personally, I believe in ghosts, but I'm on the fence about a lot of paranormal experiences simply because they really can be explained a lot of the time.

I've had a few personal experiences, though -- most specifically with a recurring Presence who likes to scare me into doing what's good for me -- so I can't completely write off the paranormal. And, you know, if there is a ghostly plane or something, and if that Presence isn't just a freak of frequency-hopping paranoia, then hey. More for us to explore.

  10. Do I believe in ghosts? Are you kidding! Of course I do. Although, having one foot in the beyond kinda helps, I guess. I've had waaaay too many personal experiences to deny their existence. Plus an experience in a crowded room on a public ghost hunt with my local paranormal investigation group.

Also, creepy ghost trivia; there's a theory that every 200th person you pass on the street/in the mall or shop is actually a ghost. Think about that for a minute, yo.
  11. Do I believe in ghost? Good question. Without a doubt, yes since myself have "personal" experiences with ghost throughout my childhood. Yet on the other hand, they are just imaginative thoughts or feelings that someone could have. But the decision is half and half.

For a creepy trivia about ghost or anything creepy: you know the feeling of when you might fall like into a abyss or something in your sleep? Well, people have said that it is angels are saving you from your death. That is why we jerk when we feel like we are falling. Yet, if you have the jerking and you cannot wake up, the angels have forgotten about saving you.. let that sink in.
  12. Um... Aley... "Sucture Poetry Contest"? And "Found objects Tournament" is driving me crazy. Fix the O! >.<
  13. I've got it, Khatt. xD
  14. Or, I haven't got it. For some reason, the edits aren't sticking.

In any case, another quick discussion question, out of curiosity: Does anyone have a favorite genre here? Whether to read or to write -- toss 'em out there!
  15. I thought I liked writing sci-fi, but most of my writings are fantasy of some kind. I just end up with that or aliens.
As for reading, I like fantasy and sci-fi. I'm trying to read some H.P. Lovecraft, but I dare not do so at night and night is when I read, so... Yeah...
Just please, whatever you do, don't suggest any books to me right now. I have far too many to read, and a huge list of books I want to buy (and then read :p)
