The Camp YWS cabin projects are a chance for users to do something fun for YWS, but you already knew that part didn't you? What you didn't know was the details. So far, two cabins have attempted to complete cabin projects within a week. The hardest thing to do was to come up with the ideas.
The reason why is because this is a blank slate essay. Your teacher says write an essay for 200 points, with 5,000 words minimum, and dismisses class. Now you're stuck attempting to come up with what you can write about. It's the same thing with the cabin project. Although we have basic suggestions for things you can do, they won't be nearly as interesting as what you could pick yourself.
So instead of giving you the suggestions about what you could make, we're going to give you suggestions about how you can make it.
First thing first, you have until Wendesday to brainstorm ideas. Write down any ideas you have about the cabin project and submit them to your peers. If they can't use the idea, they'll probably include it somehow, so don't be shy or ever think your idea "won't work." We can find a way, especially if you really want to use it.
On Wednesday your cabin councilors will be pushing you to develop the idea into something that can be used to improve or help YWS and start preperations for it. The main thing will be listing what needs to be done, who can do what, and creating project leaders so that each part is completed on time.
Friday is the panic day, or rather, the day that the cabin projects really really need to be mostly complete. The goal is to have one cabin post on Saturday, and the other to post on Sunday, so Friday needs to be the day for discussing who will post what, when will it be posted, and what sort of things need to be finished afterwards.
Saturday and Sunday are the last days of camp so that's cleaning up your bunk, packing away your memories, and presenting the cabin projects.

I don't know exactly what we're looking for in a cabin project, but I think it would be nice if we had a catalog of sorts of all YWSers who have books/other things published. Just an idea...

I think we should make our own version of Squills, but the main purpose being to provide YWSers with resources, tips, and what not for grammar, reviewing, poetry, writing a story, and stuff like that.

Hey everyone! Dragon here, final counselor of the week to finally show up *sheepish grin*.
I like that you're all drumming up some really cool ideas. However, there's already a lot of really similar ideas out there that are already going strong. For example, with the Green Room, we have both the Knights of the Green Room, who scour the Green Room rescuing works, and the After Watch, an Order of the Knights who try to keep the Green Room under 15 works for as long as possible after a Review Day. Of course, both groups would love to have you join!
With the "Advice" version of Squills, that's already out there in two different forms. We have both the Resources forums, with lots of helpful tips and advice all about writing, and Writer of the Week.
I like the idea of getting a list of published YWSers, but the key is going to be figuring out how to find these people. How will we know who they are? Maybe it'd be a massive scavenger hunt! Who knows?

That scavenger hunt could be a lot of fun! Plus we could post a thread to get people to post that they are publsihed YWSers.

These are all good ideas! Maybe something that highlights our own writing, but also gives back to the site? Perhaps we could all publish a short story, and one writing tip that we want to share with others.

Just another random idea, but what if we could find some way to give the clubs a little publicity? A lot of them are fading into oblivion

Maybe we could suggest it for a new Squills section even if we don't do it for a cabin project.

The idea of collecting a list of published YWSers is a fun one! We'd have to be sure though to get permission from those authors, as this would likely reveal full real names which can be a concern on the internet.
A newsletter like Squills might be a fun idea, but I'm concerned something like that is really bigger than we're wanting for the scope of this project. Keep those ideas coming!
