This is why you guys can recommend or suggest good YA books to other members.

Some of mine are a couple of years-ish old, but they're definitely worth reading:
The Ghost and the Goth
Reality Check
Dorothy Must Die
Eleven, Twelve and Thirteen by Lauren Myracle
Flowers in the Attic (which is surprisingly considered a YA) by V.C Andrews
That's all I can think of right now. Sorry I don't remember most of the authors' names. I read some of those years ago and now my mind's drawing a blank. XD -
o.o Here's my list of must reads.
John Green -> Anything by him.
Everyday - David Levithan
More than this -Patrick Ness
The Iron Fey series -Julie Kagawa
Divergent - Veronica Roth
The Clockwork Angel - Cassandra Clare
Bloodlines - Richelle Mead
Before I die -Jenny Downham
You against me -Jenny Downham
Uglies series -Scott Westerfeld
Midnighters series -Scott Westerfeld
Levithan-Scott Westefeld
Fan Girl , Eleanor and Park (I can't remember the author. x.x)
There is more...but my mind is being blank. -
I just picked up Fan Girl the other day. Can't wait to read it. ^_^
-
o.o It is the most amazing book ever. <3 You will love it.

@Laure - You're a Scott Westerfeld fan?! Me too! I've read his Leviathan books more times than I can count - well over a dozen times (so I'm a little obsessive with me rereading). And Goliath is one of my absolute favourite books... Have you heard they might be making an Uglies TV show?
Oh, and for recommendations, I would say Maggie Stiefvater's books are excellent, Code Name Verity by Elizabeth Wein is a historical fiction novel that is also one of my absolute favourites (I have three on this list at the moment) and I could go on for ages about it, so I'll just say that it is seriously beautiful, with a truly perfect relationship between the two main characters - and no romance, which actually makes it really special. And thirdly (because I have taken it upon myself to make this book famous, because this book is awesome and the author and I come from the same place) Fairytales for Wilde Girls by Alysse Near. I think it might only be available in Australia at the moment, but you can get it online. One of the most unique books I've read in a long time. -
Uglies was such a good series! I've read them all!
So far I've been hooked on
Farro and Sulfur - Arreana (two different books)
The Steampunk Chronicles - Kady Cross
the Legend Trilogy - Marie Lu
Divergent - Veronica Roth (yes yes yes all the way)
The Infernal Devices and The Mortal Instruments - Cassandra Clare
Eon/Eona - Alison Goodman (not sure if YA, but they're really good)
Healer/Study/Glass trilogies - Maria V Snyder
Throne of Glass series - Sarah J. Maas
*runs upstairs to see what's on her shelves*
Gallagher Girls - Allie Carter
Old Kingdom trilogy - Garth Nix
Keys to the Kingdom - Garth Nix
The Secrets of the Immortal Nicholas Flamel - Michael Scott
*breathes*
Those are the books I really really love. Mainly. xD -
I would count Eon and Eona as YA, they are really well written. And of course, Cassandra Clare. I absolutely adore Will and Tessa.

Why? Why haven't I read any of these books? o.o

Are these all these fantasies? o.o
-
Ha no, my dear, that you are mistaken. Though a lot of these seem to be fantasy.
However, John Green, Annabel Pitcher, Patrick Ness, David Levithan and many others are known to write realistic YA fiction. And also, Sarah Dessen, -
Fire and Hemlock, Howl's Moving Castle, Castle in the Air, House of Many Ways, Dogsbody - Diana Wynne Jones. (fantasy)
Cinder
The Demon King, The Exiled Queen, Crimson Crown, Gray Wolf Throne (Seven Realms Series) Warrior Heir, Wizard Heir, Dragon Heir, Enchanter Heir (Heir Series) - Cinda Williams Chima (fantasy)
Virals, Seizure, Code, Exposed - Kathy Reichs (mystery)
Trickter's Heir, Trickster's Queen - Tamora Pierce (fantasy)
Looking for Alaska - John Greene (realistic fiction)
All I can think of now. PM for more info. -
xD, John GREEN. he is pretty awesome.
I think I've heard of the Demon King, and of course, Diana Wynne Jones. <3 -
I've only read one book by David Levithan, and it's fantasy (it's called every day [no, the lowercase was not a typo]). But it's not running around casting spells fantasy, it acts just like realistic fiction. It's EXCELLENT.
