To be truthful I am an hour late in my time zone I’m so sorry but I hope this still counts
  2. Yo.

    Spoiler
The golems only defend, Aporia plays offensive and defensive support, and Resolute Waver’s trying to restrict my movements. Lylatt thought, grinning behind his helmet as his force field shone brighter. Valmond’s fighting like a summoner. The glow turned blinding like a thunderclap for just a moment then vanished outward, pushing air in all directions alongside the squid-like support unit summoned by the Resolute Waver. Said support unit dashed towards Lylatt immediately after being pushed away, and Lylatt once again performed an impossible leap — moving towards the protected Valmond — as Aporia’s rapid-fire shots hit the trail of green light left by Lylatt’s motion.

Getting desperate again now would be good. Lylatt thought to himself in a deadpan, silent plea to Aporia, born from the knowledge that Aporia’s situation was far below ideal. Lylatt’s rush, too, brought him to one of the cloaked creatures. As it raised its arm — likely to use one of those violent gusts of defensive wind — Lylatt threw his blade into the air before grabbing the creature’s forearm with his newly free hand. Lylatt briefly tightened his grip before pivoting and hurling his foe behind him, straight towards the Resolute Waver’s following metallic squid. Contrary to Lylatt’s hope, the things’ metal tentacles did not close onto the cloaked creature’s body on impact: it did, however, smashed onto the ground afterward, while Lylatt performed an about-face, holding his arm up to catch the blade he’d thrown on its way down.

Alright, how about now? Lylatt thought — and this time, as if on cue, he heard a loud electric discharge somewhere behind him, followed by a thundering boom and its accompanying whoosh.

    On my very self
    Use two: Deadly Shadow Cloak
    Bampaia, release

“Neat.” Lylatt said as he vanished through invisibility before, immediately after, turning back and plunging onto the ground, just in time to dodge Aporia’s diving strike.

“Wha- Where did he go?!” Valmond exclaimed.

Lylatt performed an athletic roll after his plunge and turned back, switching from his Vile Venospada to his other pistol, the Golden Gryphon. He released his pulse into his hand, channeling it into the pistol he’d just grabbed while taking a quick look at the situation before him. Aporia’s antennae had turned into thick, powerful metal horns laced with electricity as large as his tiny body and firmly stabbed into the ground where Lylatt stood just a moment ago. As he removed them, Lylatt gazed at Valmond, who frantically looked around the battlefield, an orb of sorts in his hand, while the other held a palmastrel so large it would appear solely as a double-sided battle-hammer, if it wasn’t for the orange ball sitting onto the barely visible spike atop the toy-turned-weapon.

“Stay sharp,” Aporia said, removing himself from the ground as a hidden jetpack compartment disappeared in the middle of his back. “The Resolute Flicker will find him as soon as he comes back, and you’ve got two Fabletrick Spellcaster clones left.”

So that’s how those cloaked ones are called. Their naming sense is pretty fun. Lylatt thought as he speed-walked to position himself behind Aporia and the squid-like Resolute Flicker floating beside him.

    “I’ll try to-”

Aporia, of course, never finished his sentence. Lylatt, still protected by his Deadly Shadow Cloak — and empowered by its maker, Bampaia — held his shield up. The moment neon eyes on Lylatt’s Dread Defender lit up and his giant mechanical turtle appeared, Lylatt’s invisibility turned off, and Valmond let out a surprised cry. But before the young magician could react, Lylatt rushed to Aporia, striking him and the Resolute Flicker with his shield, then his golem of light struck them both against the wall with a single, earth-shaking punch. Following the motion, Lylatt jerked his head to his left, glaring at Valmond before pointing his gun at him as it crackled with pink pulse energy. He waited the necessary half-a-second for his young opponent to widen his eyes before roller-skating out of the way.

We really need to talk about that, after this. Lylatt thought before pointing the Golden Gryphon back to Aporia and firing the gryphon’s Charged Shot: five, very fast bullets, followed by another light construct: a gilded giant avian briefly flying towards Aporia and the Resolute Flicker. The latter, once the projectile crashed into them both, was simply annihilated. Aporia, meanwhile, fell on the ground, his wings and antennae both immobile.

“...You are not messing around,” Valmond said, visibly impressed and scared both.

“Neither are you — which is why I had much resources of yours to destroy before you surrounded me completely. This is what I am, you know.”

    “What?”

“The reflection of nightmares faced. You are my nightmare. So, I... am your Emerald Dread.”

For a moment, Lylatt thought Valmond might shiver. But instead, the boy chuckled softly. “Should… Should I be, um… honored, or…?”

“Your feelings are yours to enjoy, so, most likely. I’ll compliment you further later.”

    “Okay!”

“Oh, and you fight like a summoner, so I’m very aware part of this is for buying time. I don’t mind, as I’m doing the same.”

Valmond eyes widened. “...So, you also fight like… Is that why you have a sidekick too?”

“We have much to nerd out about, I’m sure. As I’m sure I’ll have much to say about your oncoming final gambit.” following the words, Lylatt released a brief dome of light in the form of another pulse gauge, extended all the way to Aporia. When two twitches of his antennae was detected, Lylatt — without breaking eye contact with Valmond — shot him thrice more, just as Valmond sent an electric discharge to the Resolute Waver, which began to move again.

That thing survived a Charged Shot with no visible damage. Lylatt thought, and he knows I know that. Either I ignore it and focus on Valmond because he’s the main threat, or I risk a nasty surprise by choosing to ignore it. One of the Fabletrick Spellcaster clones already floated its way back to Valmond, which very much contributed in Lylatt’s choice.

    Resolute Waver
    Use number one: Vengeful Quills
    Bampaia, deploy

1010 words. Close call, but that was bound to happen at some point. Hope y'all enjoyed the weekend. Hugs to those who had it rough.
  3. @LuminescentAnt I see the writing was done in time, so it's fine!
