    Spoiler
“I call upon thee, traveler between lands
As a humble herald of harmony.
My path of struggle shall rest in thine hands
But make thy world of wisdom mine to see.

Thy mission, O traveler, I can define.
I request thine presence in my journey
As a vanguard who shall not resign.
Thy gate stands open, our bond is the key.

Slash foes with thine assassin’s armaments,
And let thy obsidian arrows whisper.
May thine gilded bolt end all arguments,
Or tear them in thy vortex of thunder.

Through my very soul, thine name shall be spread
I summon the might of The Emerald Dread”

There always something wonderful about this feeling.

It was in these chanted words, echoing through worlds as Lylatt stood at attention to receive them.
It was in this moment, when his very being slipped through the realms between as though his soul stretched to reach for that impossible call.
It was, too, in the way, that he found himself within a ray of light bursting through the rune-filled circle he knew was there, while he’d turned into a shell-shaped metal trinket suspended in the air.
Then, as always, came the first presentation.
Four neon green eyes opened out of the shell’s plates and locked onto the summoner’s silhouette, before the light gathered around the sentient trinket and morphed it into a giant turtle-shaped golem of metal. The monster looked to the night sky and let out roar before vanishing into a dome of green light, like a warrior’s last ghostly wail echoing through a lost battlefield.
A man, bound by gravity once more, simply walked out of the display, his armor as silent as his steps.

“I understand you have business with me.” Lylatt said, his deep voice audible as if uncovered, even from behind his reptilian-shaped metallic helmet.

Before him stood what seemed to be a human teenager with tan skin, a distinctive dark red-colored outfit with a golden belt and equally golden glove, and equally distinctive orange eyes. Which, presently, helped to interpret his expression as moving from impressed to… disappointed?

“I… sorry,” he said, rearranged the dark red top hat framing his head, “I do have business with you, it’s just- I thought this would be more… Well I thought your summoning chant would be replied with one of your own?”

    Short silence.

“Are you… saying my summoning in this land was not dramatic enough to your taste?”

“No no, it was awe-inspiring — but I guess in my head it’s the kind of thing that’s followed with… um, titles? A… ‘generic’…? Um…” he frowned and gazed to the ground, visibly searching for the correct word. His top hat nearly fell over, but he casually caught it with one finger of his hand placed against the goggles wrapped around the hat. His face, seconds later, lit up. “Ah! An intro. An introduction. Of sorts.”

A chuckle, amused, followed the words. “It’s clear to me this is your first time. If you’re not in a rush, I suppose I could humor you.”

    The boy smiled eagerly. “Really?!”

Lylatt raised his left hand, and strapped to his wrist appeared a large turtle shell-shaped metallic shield, identical in shape to the trinket earlier. Like before, four neon eyes of emerald opened from the plates — but this time, they shone together to form a light that quickly solidified, forming a silhouetted version of the metallic turtle giant from earlier. One roar later and Lylatt was engulfed into a dome of light from which he slowly emerged, having raised his shielded arm to reabsorb within the shield the light that had just been released.

“I am he who felled the Lord of Cinders.” Lylatt began before the delighted gaze of his summoner. “He who clashed with the Blinding Bane. He who tamed a Shadow’s Nightmare, and he who travels the lairs between lands since before the dawn of Invested Invokes.” a step and a smile, invisible behind the helmet, followed. “I understand you have business with The Emerald Dread. Perhaps you would be so kind as to elaborate.”

YES!” the summoner exclaimed, a giant grin plastered on his face as he took a step forward of his own. “I am Valmond Bauldrian, Mechanical Mage of Foudreye! I am he who felled the Rogax Rogues, he who travels through Dreamland, and he who quests for the fearful PhoBits!” at the mere mention of that last title, his smile slightly faded. “And, uh… I really really need your help for that. That last one, I mean.”

“I’m aware of at least some of your plight. As for my help, you have it — although the how of that remains to be discussed. It will depend on your next performance.”

“Oh! Um, okay. What should I do?”

“First, a dialogue.” Lylatt looked around, confirming his whereabouts. “You’ve summoned me in the Temple of Deliverance, correct?”

“Yeah! Do you know this place?”

“When you summon an Invested Invoke by way of their dedicated summoning chant, you invite them into whichever realm within which you perform the summoning. Doing so imparts them with contextual information on said realm, specifically information that you yourself possess. That summoner to summoned creature bond is how you know my title-name of Emerald Dread-”

“To be fair, it’s in the chant.” Valmond commented.“-and how I know of your name, as well as the little companion currently hiding in your shoulder bag by the pillar on your left.”

Valmond’s eyes widened. “Oh. Am I trouble?”

“I was merely informing you.” Lylatt assured, raising a hand in a gesture of appeasement. “I know that you need to find the PhoBits, but I asked you for elaboration because you have more context about this land than I do. Or rather, I have most of the theory, but you have both theory and practice.”

“Right, okay! So, all I have to do is tell you more?”

“You have more to do, but it’s a start. First and foremost, we need to spar.”

    “Spar?”

“To battle, but for sport.” Lylatt frowned inquisitively behind his helmet. The way in which the teenager searched for words earlier, his choice of words, and occasional lack of knowledge were... revealing. But he’d have to address that later.
