I feel like I may be in the wrong place, but I've been bedridden since September and lost nearly all of my muscle mass. Basically, as always, my problem is that my bones really like to show themselves off. ...Is this acceptable? I mean, I don't know about you guys, but showering is Hell for me, so I think most certainly not fit.

Well, we are here to help each other out. I'd say all levels of fitness are accepted.

Also, I have my really bad days where my legs want to give out and I start trembling if I do any level of physical activity. The muscle tone in my back and legs is almost non-existent, and if I'm not careful working out makes it worse. Chronic illness makes fitness interesting.

Thanks, Rosey. Sorry we both deal with the same thing, though. But, yeah, it does, doesn't it? I'm hopefully going to get into therapy horseback riding eventually... As for now, I don't know much else to do but stretch and walk when I can. :/

I've found what helps is keeping your calcium, magnesium, iron and protein intakes high. They tend to be what help keep muscle. My issue was I simply didn't absorb them (especially iron). I started getting more iron and began keeping tone a lot better.

I'll keep that in mind. :) My problem right now is I'm not eating... Today I've eaten a sandwich and drank a protein shake. I'm quite tall. Bad idea. As it is, I'm going to try to eat some spaghetti. Otherwise, do you ever get really bad pain in your legs--like zombies are nomming on them--after you exercise? That happens to me and today it was so bad I tried to make myself pass out. :/

Yes. Yes I do. It's gotten better since I've been taking supplements (I take calmag and iron because I am deficient) but I still have to be really careful when working out. I can only do so once or twice a week, else I get sicker. Eating in general also helped, but I discovered I had a lot of allergies that were making me sicker the more I ate, so I was never hungry... and maybe we should take this to PM? heh.
