Out of all the characters on DW aside from the Doctor and his regular companions, I've found Jack and River to be the most mysterious.
I'm new to Torchwood, but I'm really hoping Jack will turn up in series 6. And River, well, she's bound to. But where did she come from, what did she do to land in Stormcage, and who is she to the Doctor? A wife? Surely not, as he told Amy, he's 907 and can't age. I thought he'd given up having a human lover.
And why does he trust her, and vice versa?
Jack: does he ever really die? Was he the Face of Boe?
How did Martha and Mickey end up together? Never saw that one coming, yet it seems to fit.

Well, as far as River goes, maybe she cant age either because she's part time-lord and she could regenerate before she used all of her remaining regenerations to save the Doctor. She said in response to the Doctor asking her why she was in Stormcage that she had killed a good man, and based on her silence on the matter it contains spoilers- suggesting that she I
might have killed the Doctor. It also explains where she came from in the episode. "A Good Man Goes to War ".
As far as Torchwood goes, its great, especially if you want to know more about Jack. But just don't watch the last 5 episodes. -
Isn't it obvious? River is really a dalek in disguise trying to lure the Doctor out of hiding in order to destroy him.
JK! River is his wife who is a Timelord and he really loves, the only question is: will there be a Doctor daughter? I mean it's not lile I've seriously thought about this. I only have like seven episode plot ideas based off of her. Don't you judge me! -
As we're talking about River, my friend and I have come up with an idea about why there are 3 Clara Oswin Oswalds. We think River and Captain Jack are just trying to screw with the Doctor's head by cloning her and putting her in random places in time. Just a thought.

@WillowCutz, technically the Doctor had a daughter in the episode The Doctor's Daughter, where the character was played by the 5th doctor's actual daughter who then married Tennent, the 10th doctor, who then had a daughter who is the doctor' daughter, the doctor's granddaughter and the doctor's daughter's daughter.

I never understood it either, but for something fun...
When the Doctor regenerates, his old self sort of goes into 'Timelord Heaven'. It's a cool place where past regenerations live, but they age like humans and have only one life (because Gallifreyans love humans). BUT, because the Doctor is so awesome, his regenerations always find a way to leave Timelord Heaven and return to the normal world, where they live on earth as humans. The fourth Doctor just happened to become a curator.
There you go. That's my crazy theory.

My theory on this is as follows: The curator Doctor seemed to know a lot more about the Doctor's future than the 11th Doctor, including saying that the Doctor will revisit some of his past faces. This implies that the curator Doctor was actually a future regeneration, and that the Doctor will eventually learn how to control his regeneration (I'm hoping to see Tennant return.)
