Malvis

  1. Malvis stared at the two-way mirror, her chin held up defiantly. The handcuffs were heavy on her wrists, and the chains connecting them to her ankles sprawled across her lap. Her face didn't show a single flicker of fear or hesitation. This wasn't her first time in a cell, and she was sure it wouldn't be her last.

She was the acolyte, the bringer of revolution. Sure, the crown could despise her all they wanted, but they couldn't kill her--not in a way that mattered.

As the door opened, she couldn't help but smirk. Interrogations were always fun. She was almost excited to see what this one would bring.
  2. The officer stepped into room and slowly closed the door behind her. She spared a glance at her colleagues behind the glass recording everything. This was a big event for a lower rung officer like her. A rebel leader didn't just fall into someone's career everyday. This was her ticket up the ladder.

She placed the folder open on the table. Pictures of terrorist sites and rebel movement showing her at the center. The officer remembered her training well and played it off as an accidental slip of the hand with a shrug. She stood standing in front of Malvis and stared down at her.

"Finally found you're way into one of these rooms? I always wondered who would finally bring you in. Never thought It would be one of my boys. Let's start simple yea? Name and birthdate for the record please."
  3. Malvis folded her hands together. "Well, I have to feed the people somehow. And you all just love getting my name out there." The pictures did nothing to scare her. She knew where she'd been. "You know my name. I don't know my birthday."
  4. The officer cocked her head. "You don't know your own birthday? What kind of excuse is that? I would have thought the great and terrible Malvis would have had something better." The officer picked up the folder and started flipping through the pages. "You have a lot of charges here Malvis. Most of them involving the murder of an officer. So please save the struggle for the stuff that matters yea?"
  5. "I don't remember my own birthday." Malvis shrugged. "No one kept track of the date, and I don't exactly remember the day I was born. You realize you have to have someone who remembers that date for you to learn it, right?" Her eyes never left the two-way mirror. She knew she wasn't speaking to this grunt officer.
  6. The officer rolled her eyes. "Fine then. Do you at least know your full name? Or has the shepherd of fire somehow forgotten even that? I will even take a place of birth in it's stead."
  7. "Malvis. And I was born in The Sticks. At least, I assume so because that's the first place I remember."
  8. The officer raised her gaze from the folder with a raised brow. "I figured you were from somewhere in the middle of nowhere but can you be a bit more specific? Or are you intent on fighting me before we even get to the good stuff?"
  9. "The Sticks is a place. About a mile outside of Oakfell." Malvis chuckled. "You know, you people claim to know so much but know so little about the people tearing you down."
  10. "Well then it is a very good thing we interrogate people like you then isn't it?" The officer looked back down at her files and pulled out one of the pages. "You people have to have a damn good PR team to get this far. Out of curiosity how do you get your word out? Pocket bible, posters, someone as dramatic as you has to have at least one stage play right?"
  11. "I use a language none of you speak." Malvis finally looked at the officer, her eyes meeting hers. Her right eye was too bright; the pupil was turning a light grey as if it hid a star. "Hope, exhaustion, hard work. Those who look for me now have been looking since they were born. If you were one of the people, you would understand."
  12. The officer flinched at the strange sight before regaining her composure. She coughed into her fist and turned to a different paper in her file. "And um, how exactly do you portray that language. I highly doubt you shouted your name and people came."
  13. "I don't need to shout when they already listen." Malvis's eyes brightened. A warm yellow light surrounded the rings of her iris. "And why bother shouting for those who don't listen? You want me to shout for you, but your ears are full of wool. I could give you every answer you seek, and yet you will walk away dissatisfied because you have yet to learn the meaning of my words."
  14. The officer took a step back. Theoretically she was going to be fine in this cell as long as the other officers were paying attention. That theoretically was all the kept the officer from letting someone else deal with this crazy nonsense. "So what then you preach? The good old soap box and a good speech writer? Or do you come up with everything yourself?"
  15. Malvis turned her gaze back to the two-way mirror. This officer was boring her. "I already answered your question."
