Favourite author, and why!

This should be good, battle of the writers! I like Stephen King, but I haven't read enough of him to say he's my favourite... I do like Darren Shan though, him, Simon Scarrow, Trudi Canavan, and Rick Riordan. I find these writers' books particularly enjoyable!!

Maggie Stiefvater (she uses language in this absolutely beautiful way, almost poetic way, her characters are great and the humour in her books is hilarious) and Scott Westerfeld (the concepts and world building behind his books are brilliant, and I adore his characters).

At the moment probably Vladimir Nabokov. He has such an amazing and smoothly poetic style of writing which makes you just glide into the story and emphasize with what is happening in the book.

Stephen King and R. L. Stine are my absolute favorites. SK because his writing really makes you think, and the dark humor behind it. RLS? Just because.

Francine Rivers, she's a Christian author and writes the most amazing Christian Historical Fiction. Her series The Mark Of The Lion, is absolutely breathtaking. Taking you back to a time where all evil resided and she doesn't sugar coat the brutality that her characters experience. Its amazingly written and my favorite series.

Shel Silverstein's my all favorite - he's pretty much all poetry with a few short stories. I love how though some of his poems have a dark meaning, they're presented in a funny light-hearted way.
Then there's Lois Lowry. She has a way of messing with "the feels".
I haven't read a lot from James Dashner, but so far he's definitely making it up my "favorite authors" ladder! -
I have lots of favorite authors.
There's James Patterson for writing the Maximum Ride series, which I totally loved. I love the romance part the best. <3 The story being told from the main character's perspective was really nice.
Then there's Marie Lu for writing her wonderful Legend series. It also has to do with romance, but the way she change from one character telling the story to another was outstanding. You could see, or read actually, both sides of the same story, but they are still different.
Oh and obviously Lois Lowry, for writing The Giver series, which was just extraordinary. It changes you after you read it. And you feel so different.
Then there are more, but maybe next time...

All right, lets see... C.S. Lewis, Brandon Mull, Rick Riordan, J.R.R. Tolkien... and many more. I like lots of Authors, but these four are definitely up there.

My favorite author of all time is Robin Hobb- followed closely by Brandon Sanderson. Some of my other favorites are Michael Sullivan, Jonathan Stroud, and C.S. Lewis.
I love Robin Hobb because she has an amazing understanding of human nature and she writes characters in a way that I've never seen in any other kind of fiction. They feel very real, flawed but virtuous, distinctly unique, and self-sacrificing. Everything about her books is a joy to read. What she puts her characters through breaks my heart, makes me laugh, and has surprisingly taught me great life lessons. Not something you'd expect from a fantasy writer. She's my writing idol- I find myself constantly taking mental notes for my own stories when I read her books haha.
Brandon Sanderson is a favorite of mine because of his characters and worldbuilding. The magic and worlds he creates are so much fun to read and his characters are amazing. He was my top favorite author ever since I picked up The Way of Kings when I was ten years old, and his books are pretty special to me. I didn't think anything could ever compare to his writing until I recently discovered Hobb's Farseer Trilogy.
