Many people say that we can’t live without love. Personally, I think that love is overrated, but who am I to judge?
It’s not that I don’t believe in love, or that I’ve never seen it, actually I see it every day I come downstairs and see my mom and dad. Their love is the right love, true love and you can see that in every little thing they do: how they talk to each other, how they look at each other, even how they smile at each other. If I ever find love, I want it to be exactly like theirs. So here we are, at the beginning of the story about me, Zoey Hayden, age 17, looking for love (if it exists for me). I sincerely hope that this won’t be some lame and pathetic story, like most of the stories I started writing a couple of times. Fingers crossed!
Chapter one: the new beginning.
My family and I moved from LA, California, to New York in the middle of the winter breaks, so tomorrow I’m starting the second semester in my new school. Awesome.
This is it. The first day of school. I already made numerous scenarios what could go wrong today, but I hope nothing will. So, my look for today: I French braided my long, chestnut brown hair to one side, put on my brown sweater and jeans, my favorite black converse all stars and gold bracelet as a good luck charm. Let the show begin.
I came to school early so I can get my schedule on time and find my classroom. A nice lady from registry gave it to me and as I was looking at it and walking, I accidentally bumped into some student.
Me: oh, I’m so sorry, I’m bad at multitasking, as you can see.
Student: haha, no it was my fault. I’m Lucas, by the way.
Me: I’m Zoey, nice to meet you.
Lucas: pleasure is all mine. So, you’re new here?
Me: yup, all the way from LA. Hey, you mind showing me the classroom I’m supposed to go in?
Lucas: not at all. Let me see your schedule. Hmm, actually, you’re in my class.
Lucas: do I sense sarcasm in your voice? I think we’re going to get along just fine. So, LA, where do you live?
Me: isn’t that too personal to ask someone you’ve just met?
Me: I live in New York haha.
Lucas: really? I thought you live in Narnia.
Me: haha, I live at the end of the Maple street.
Lucas: me too, but at the middle.
Lucas: shit. So I guess we’re going together to school and home, then?
Me: I guess. We should probably go, class started.
Me: such a gentleman.

Hey, lemme start this review off by saying I LOVE this short scene, but I do have some problems with it. The start is way too cliche - starting at a new school has been done again and again and again and again... you get the point. It's a shame really, because I like the scene and interaction between both characters, and it really does have potential. There's just one thing that I can ppoint out which is:
"Lucas: do I sense sarcasm in your voice? I think we’re going to get along just fine. So, LA, where do you live?" - there should be stage directions after: "do I sense sarcasm in your voice?" maybe [pause] or [wait for response] before he continues his dialogue.
Other than that, I genuinely would like to see more of you around this site. So if you read this - come back!!
