A best friend is a person who knows you the most (besides your family). A true best friend is a person who will stay with you till the end and remember you wherever you are. In my perspective a best friend is a person you will trust and someone to know. A best friend can be masculine or feminine. Usually you make best friends once every few years. You can have as many best friends but sometimes you just say some people are your best friends while they are only your friends. You don't get a best friend by judging their popularity or how rich they are. Some people say that they are best friends with the person that they are talking to but their not they just lie to make the other person happy. "Having a best friend is like standinng on wet cement. The longer you stay, the harder it's to leave and you never go without leaving your footprints behind". "A stranger stabs you in the front, a friend stabs you in the back but best friends only poke each other with straws". "A true best friend is someone who can see the truth and pain in you even when you are fooling everyone else".

For me, understanding what a best friend is was not an easy process.
When I was small, I thought everyone who talked nicely to me was my best friend. Then I understood that people talk nicely when they need something.
When I got older than before, I thought everyone who supported my every decision was my best friend. I soon realised they were called sycophants. Again, they do what they do when they need something.
I grew a bit more older this time. I thought people who I could share my deepest thoughts with were my best friends. I realised they are good conversationalists, not best friends.
I grew more. I thought the person who would help me anytime if need be would be my best friend. I realised that such people are called resourceful. They are not my best friends.
Every time I grew, I moved up to a new level where I could see a larger view of the picture. I realised over time that my best friend was not someone who could do any of the above things. Nothing from the above is a criterion for a best friend - because a best friend does not need a criterion. They are just people with whom you click - and they are the people, who accept you the way you are. Nothing more. And I can say this being a person with five such friends - they are as different as they can be. But you are their best friend if they accept you for who you are and are there for you, and they are your best friend if vice versa
Hi there,
So I'm musicgirl5001 and I'm kind of new at this, so forgive me if this isn't really the best review. Ok so I really like this essay about best friends. I have a lot of best friends too, but some of my best friends make fun of me just for fun like we make jokes about each other. Would you still consider that person your best friend? You could add that part too. I think you should add more to this essay.
"A best friend is a person who knows you the most (besides your family)"
I think this quote is half true because some of my family members know me as much as my best friend does, but my parents don't know me as much as my bff does. A lot of this information is very true and it was very well written also. You made me realize that best friends are great to have. Thanks
Peace,
musicgirl5001
Hello! Fancy seeing you here
I think sometimes a best friend knows you better than your family and sometimes a family member is a best friend. There's a lot of extra layers to this which you might want to consider exploring.Specifics
1. You really jump into the topic straight away and that's good as I don't like to see pages of writing before I know what we're talking about. However, it might have been nice to set up a 'discussion' first. To give us a more general comment on best friends before explaining what they are and your opinions of them. For example, maybe something like:
A natural instinct is to surround ourselves with friends; people do it. Animals do it. Life is that much easier when you have friends at your side. Then there's the best friend. What is it that makes one friend superior to another?
Just an idea to get you started! Then we know what the comparison is and have a more gentle introduction to the article.
2.
3. This section seems a little unfinished! I think you need to tell us who these quotes are by and explain them a little with your thoughts. How much do you agree with each one and how do they reflect on your own situation? It would be nice to hear a little about your best friend(s)!
Overall
You've got a strong topic but there's a few things not working quite yet. I like the points you make but you need to add a few more explanations and give some examples of this from your life or by using popular culture. For example, you could look at the best friend relationship between Watson and Sherlock Holmes or between Bart and Milhouse
Good luck and let me know if there's anything else you'd like me to read or if you make any changes!
All the best,
Heather xxx
Thank you for reiviewing my work and I will improve my work.
This is great! Though sometimes there a few typo but I'm glad you chose to write about this topic. I used to have a best friend but she backstabbed me.
Thank you
I really like the topic you where going after here. I often ponder the same ideas, and it's good to see someone has actually written them down. Now I'm going to go on to some of the things that I saw wrong.
To start with in your second sentence I'm confused. You wrote, "A true best friend is a person who will stay with you till the end and remember you wherever you."
At the end I had originally thought you had added an extra you, but after looking a little more that couldn't have been the case. I have been unable to figure out what you meant there and I will continue to try to figure it out. In the mean time I suggest that you fix that.
Your third sentence flows weirdly to me too. You wrote, "In my perspective a best friend is a person you will trust and a person to get to know."
I can't figure out what tense you where trying to write this in, but it is confusing at "person you will trust and a person to get to know" I almost feel like you could have written it like this " In my perspective a best friend is a person that you can trust and really get to know. Now that's just a thought you don't have to change it to that, but it could use some tweaking.
Here is another sentence that could use some tweaking, "You can have as many best friends but sometimes you just say some people are your best friends while they are only your friends" I'd first like to point out that it is a good thought. Next you wrote that "You can have as many best friends" When I read this then carried on to the rest of the sentence I felt like I was left hanging. Try to add more detail to that.
I feel like this next sentence was smashed together. "Usually when you get to know someone and you feel like you can tell your secrets to them and when they feel free to tell their secrets to you then you become their best friends." I can't make much sense of this other than you normally get to know someone and then you share secrets with each other and then you're best friends. This sentence also flows weirdly. This is just a though on how you could have written it, "Usually when you get to know someone you share secrets with each other, and that is when you have become best friends." Again this is just a thought, don't think it's what you have to use, play with the idea.
Here we go my last sentence I want to correct. "Some people say that they are best friends with the person that they are talking to but their not they just lie to make the other person happy. " I understand what you're saying but it's a little hard to decipher. So try to clean it up a little bit. My thoughts on cleaning it up would be, "Some people just say that they are best friends to the person they are talking to, but they're just lying to make the other person happy."
These are just my thoughts don't take them too seriously. I feel as though I gave you a harsh review and for that I am sorry. I think about the things you said all the time and that is why I really like this idea, but I felt as though you could have elaborated more. Also welcome to YWS.
Any others feel free to mention if I missed something.
Thank you
Hi there, Znale!
I agree with some things that you say, but there were a few bits that I didn't really understand, let's see!
Nice to see someone writing their thoughts about friendship.
I think you're missing a word at the end
You might want to clarify this thought - are you saying that a best friend is someone that you want to get to know even better?
It'd be nice to see some sort of evidence of proof to this claim! Why is it like this, and what about the people who have only one best friend throughout their whole life?
Some of the sentences you've written are quite long and they don't have much punctuation (=commas). That makes them a bit difficult to follow. Here's an example:
I think another issue of this sentence is that there are some words missing or the thoughts have got jumbled up? Read this again and try to make it a bit clearer what you want to say.
Hope this helped! ^_^ Do ask if you have any questions!
