Learning to live again chapter 1

PreviousNext

The wind was blowing outside Kristina’s window as she woke up, she looked over at the clock and groaned. It was 7:00 in the morning she had to get ready for school and her friends scarlet’s Halloween party tonight, she rolled out of bed and rubbed her eyes. Last night she got about 5 hours of sleep and felt like she could sleep another 12 hours. Lately Kristina hasn’t been sleeping much because of the night mares shes been having, she just hoped that her friends haven’t noticed her looking more and more tried. After she walked into the bathroom and looked in the mirror she groaned again and reached for her make up hoping she could at least cover up the dark circles under her eyes. Once she was done she walked back into her room grabbing her phone and wasn't surprised to see a text already flashing across the screen. Scarlet sent her a text asking if she wanted to walk to school together, Kristina rolled her eyes at that, they always walked to school together but ever day Scarlet still asked like she though Kristina would change her mind. After grabbing her school bag she headed out the door, locking it behind her and walked down the street to where she would meet her friend. She felt eyes on her after she left her yard but didn't think much about it because of all the people on the street heading to school or work.

“Hey Kristina how are you?” asked Scarlet as she walked up.

“Morning Scarlet, Didn't sleep the well, what about you?”

Scarlet smiled as they headed off to school, “Well I spend most of the night playing my famous Halloween party, which you are coming to this year no matter what”

Kristina growled at her friend, she knew she hated Halloween but every year she made her go to that damn party, and every year Kristina left early to sit at home and read and think about her younger year. Kristina rubbed her eyes again hopping to wake up throughout the day so that she could make it through school without falling asleep, again.

“Fine, I'll show up for a few hours tonight what time do you want me there?”

“Show up at around 8:30, that way I can make sure your costume is cute enough”

“I don't wear costumes and you know that, me showing up should be good enough you know that”

They got to the main building of their school and went different ways to class, Kristina kept zoning out, she had to fight to keep forces on the teacher all she wanted to do was sleep. Again she felt eyes on her but again she brushed it off thinking it was either a kid in her class or just her mind playing tricks on her. She feel asleep in her second class and her teacher woke her up just as the class was ending and told Kristina that maybe she should go home, she wasn't looking that well today. Kristina agreed with the teacher and left school at lunch time without waiting to tell Scarlet, she sent her friend a text telling her she went home while she was walking. Kristina unlocked her door and stepped inside the hall way closing and locking the door behind her, she had to get ready for the party but first she decided to get something to eat and then take a nap and hopefully get a few more hours of sleep before getting ready.

She woke up and smiled feeling much better now that she got some sleep but the smile faded once she remember the party. She Start by looking through all the her clothes trying to find something that she could use as a costume to make Scarlet happy. She stopped looking in her dresser and walked over to her window, looking out before pulling the blinds closed, she could have sworn she felt someone watching her but nothing was out there and she knew no one was in the house. She finally picked an outfit, it was just a simple black dress and blood red high heels, she put a black hat on her head and nodded to herself in the mirror. Her straight hair was now falling down her back in soft waves, and her normally pale face had a small touch of makeup, making her blue eyes look brighter and more awake. She nodded to herself and smiled she looked this outfit she was going out as a murder this year. Since she still had a lot of time before the party she wanted to get a head start on the homework and school work she was missing and hopefully get that done before she had to leave. She went back downstairs grabbing her bag and sitting at the living room coffee table, she didn't feel like working in the office right now, she garbed her English homework out and looked down to see what she had to do and started working. After about 2 hours her phone started buzzing and looking down to see it was Scarlet which she was figuring on a call soon because school was done. Grabbing her phone she flipped it open and looked at the text message.

“How are you, you went home?”

she answered back “ Ya, wasn't feeling great today, feeling better, yes I will be at your party I even have a costume just for you”

“Your awesome”

Kristina put her phone down and went back to reading her book, she wanted to get it done before the party and so far she was about half way through it. Just as she was getting into a really good part there was a knock on the door, rolling her eyes she put her book on the table and went to answer it. She opened it and Scarlet was the one standing on the other side. Scarlet walked into the house and sat on the couch, looking at all the school work all over the table and the book laying open on the arm rest.

“I wanted to come check on you, you seem sick is everything ok? Your not normally one to go home in the middle of the day” stated Scarlet.

“I haven't been sleeping well the last few weeks, I’m just tried nothing to worry about to much, I had a nap today once I got home, so I’m feeling a lot better”

“That's good, so are you going to stay for the whole party this year?”

“You know I never do, I'll stay for as long as I can but it might not be for more then a few hours, I have work tomorrow morning before school” Kristina explained.

“I don't get how you can work that early and still go to school the same day”

“Once you get use to it, its really not that hard , the start was a little bit rocky but now I kind of like it”

“Whatever I have to go home and finish putting things up and getting food and drinks, I'll see you tonight, don't over work yourself” Scarlet said as she walked back out the door, she really did worry about her best friend.

Kristina closed the door and went back to the living room to finish her book, and after eating supper she started to walk over to the party, again feeling eyes on her. She walked into the party at about 8:45 to see most people were already there, she grabbed a pop from the cooler and looked around at the party and smiled, Shara really did out do her self this time. There were black and read candles around the room burning, and some jack-o-lanterns lined up on the walls again all of them had candles burning away in them. Everyone was wearing some kind of costume some where vampires or were wolfs and zombies, some people did the hunting or fishermen costume and Kristina’s figured they just got done working and didn't feel like changing and just came over like that. Shara even went as far as closing all the windows so that the moon light couldn't be seen so the only light in the whole room was the candles if gave the room a little bit of a more creeper feel and for Halloween it fit. She smiled and shook her head clearing her thoughts before she started looking for her best friend, after finding her she walked over and started talking.

“Cute costume, what are you suppose to be?” Scarlet

“A murder”

“Oh cool, by the way Jake was walking around looking for you a while ago, you should go find him” explained Scarlet.

Kristina nodded and moved to find Jake, wondering why he was looking for her. After a few minutes of searching she finally found him sitting on the last step going up stairs, Kristina sat down beside him and smiled while she got comfy on the step.

“Scarlet said you were looking for me, whats up?” she asked.

“Hey Kristina ya I was, I was wondering if you, maybe wanted to go to the movies with me tomorrow night, they have a new horror movie playing and I know you like that kind of movie” replied Jake as he smiled at her, his eyes shinning bright as he waited for her answer.

She bit her lip looking at him, he just didn’t understand that she didn’t want to go out with him, or anyone for that matter, she was just to busy with work and school. He asked her almost every other week to go out somewhere. She wanted to just tell him to knock it off but didn't want to hurt his feeling or pride to much.

“I'm sorry Jake but I cant, I have work and homework to get done and I don't have time to date right now” she explained as nicely as she could, hoping it wouldn't hurt him to much.

His eyes started to dull and he looked down at the floor, “Ya no problem I'll just go see the move by myself”, he got up then and left her sitting there by herself as he went to find some one else to talk to.

She shook her head and stood up talking a sip of her drink when to find a friend to hang out with for a while, while it figured out what time she wanted to leave, she found a classmate who wasn't talking to anyone and decided to walk over and say hi.

“Hey Isabelle, how are you enjoying the party?”

“Oh hey Kristina, its nice seeing you here. Its not bad I'm having a pretty good time, how about yourself?”

“Its not bad, I only really come to this thing because Scarlet wont stop bugging me and would never let me stay home, she would drag me here if she had to” explained Kristina with a smile on her face.

“Ya you to seen like really close friends, how long have you known each other?” asked Isabelle.

“Are parents use to be friends before my passed away, so we've been friends since the day we were born really, shes my best friend and I don't know what I would do without her. She's been like a rock for me these last few years, so I guess coming to the Halloween party is a small price to pay in the long run.” Kristina pointed out looking around for Scarlet as she spoke really wanting to leave, she was getting tried again and talking about her parents was making her think.

She was just about the leave when Isabelle asked a question she didn't want to answer but knew that Isabelle was new and didn't know the story and didn't know how hard it was for Kristina to talk about.

“Oh god, I'm sorry I didn't know your parents passed, what happened?”

I am honest that i do not know what to say about this writing.I really like the idea you have but you need to detail it more?
You start very good.Thesere are some grammar mistakes that I could find but this can be fixed easily.I think you need to correct them by reading this several times out loud?It is always helping me so try to do it.It helps you know where to put the commas and fullspots. You just stop and you know what to do after that.I do not get the end though honestly. It feels like it is kind of open. But still mysterious.Maybe that is good.Making me curious!Go on and good luck.

Good job till now! Just go on trying your best.

Hey there yizhongt here to leave a review. Now you have quite a number of grammar and spelling corrections you have to do for your piece of work. I'll try my best to point them out for you. Let's begin.

"It was 7:00 in the morning she had to get ready for school and her friends scarlet’s Halloween party tonight, she rolled out of bed and rubbed her eyes."

Correction: the s in Scarlet should be a capital S. I also suggest splitting the sentence and putting a full stop after tonight.

"Lately Kristina hasn’t been sleeping much because of the night mares shes been having, she just hoped that her friends haven’t noticed her looking more and more tried."

Correction: she's instead of shes. And tired instead of tried.

"After she walked into the bathroom and looked in the mirror she groaned again and reached for her make up hoping she could at least cover up the dark circles under her eyes."

Correction: Take out the after at the beginning of the sentence. There also should be a comma after the word make up.

"...they always walked to school together but ever day Scarlet still asked like she though Kristina would change her mind"

Correction: It should be every, not ever.

“Hey Kristina how are you?” asked Scarlet as she walked up.

Correction: There should be a comma after Kristina.

“Morning Scarlet, Didn't sleep the well, what about you?”

Correction: Full stop after Scarlet. And its that, not the.

"...she garbed her English homework out and looked down to see what she had to do and started working."

Correction: She grabbed, not she garbed.

“I wanted to come check on you, you seem sick is everything ok? Your not normally one to go home in the middle of the day” stated Scarlet.

Correction: Full-stop after check on you. Also, it is you're and your. You actually mixed up between you're and your a number of times in the story. I suggest you go back and look for it. Also, comma after day.

Those are some of the grammar and spelling errors to be found. I suggest you re-read the piece to find anymore mistakes. In addition to that, I also feel that the chapter ended not with a proper ending. Is this the first part of Chapter 1? If so, then it is totally fine to end it the way you ended. If not, I suggest you find a way to properly close the chapter. I do apologise if I sound harsh. On another note, the story did flow well from the next scene to the next.
