The sun can be cruel
As it can be soothing
After a life of being captivated in a cell
Wasting away
Hoping to pray of a
Life that could’ve been
The sun can be cruel
As it keeps on shining
As your heart slams against your chest
Wanting to break free from the pain and darkness
That is inflicted upon it after realising
That there is life after death and
Your loved one became conscious that
They would be better off there than here
In this twisted world with you
The sun can be cruel
When it spits out its rays of light
Upon a harvest that seeks rain;
Upon a mind that needs pain
The sun can be cruel...

To be honest, at first, I didn't really understand this poem until I did a quick analyzing in my head. It's nice how each stanza has the same beginning as the others, I'd say. Some of the rhymes seemed a bit forced or misplaced, although it's a bit of a nit-picky comment. It actually might depend a lot on the phrasing, for example some rhymes could go over quite well if you phrase it one way, and perhaps in my head I'm phrasing it differently than you had originally planned out. Another thing is that the first two lines in the first two stanzas go together quite well;
and
However in the third stanza, while the beginning part is the same, the second line sticks out from the other two. I'm guessing the first two similarities was just a convenience, but it's just a very minor thing that I noticed. Once again, I'm being very nit-picky for the sole purpose of attempting to give advice rather than "I loved this. ~Nikki" you know? Although I have to say, this is a very nicely written poem and I definitely love the concept of it, as well as how it was written. Great work, and keep on writing!
