Birdsong

               some think.
While others more knowledgeable(,)
about such things(,)
               (or so they think(.)) (I wouldn't have it I parentheses. Add a comma but I don't advise parentheses)
say it is merely
an adaptation for survival(,)
a way to
               protect a territory(,)
               attract a mate(,)
               pass down DNA.
But I know they are wrong(,)
for I have heard
                no, listened to
the birds.
The birds sing in the morning(,)
in an attempt
to wake us up(,)
               to tear open our eyes and ears.
I have listened to the birds in the morning(,)
and they do not sing.
They scream.
