Students are almost given no choice to code switch at school. School is supposed to be a controlled environment where students learn as much as they can. There is definitely a difference between speaking in a formal manner than the way you speak to your friends or family. At school you have to be more serious matter because it is where you learn valuable information for life after school. When you’re done with school you need to know how to impress employers at interviews and know how to talk around co-workers and your boss. If you’re the boss then you already know what it takes to become one; combining your intelligence and code-switching. Schools require you to code-switch because it prepares you for life beyond school and maintains a productive environment at school.
Everyone speaks differently but every student knows that there is a specific way to speak to your teachers. Of course at times you may code-switch with specific teachers or school staff depending on your relationship with them. Students code-switch all the time at school whether it be writing an essay, speaking to your principal, or talking with a friend. For example, in an article explaining the reasons for code switching, one person’s story was about an encounter with his principal “One day my principal walked into my room and asked me, "Mr. Davis, I didn't receive your editions..." I replied, "Nah, you flaugin' bruh, I put that on your desk yesterday." My boss froze, with his jaw dropped and one eyebrow raised. After a moment he shook his head…” In other words this tea cher was about him code-switching accidentally andat the worst time too. The principal didn’t seem very pleased by his code-switching. The teacher’s mistake is something you wouldn’t want to do because it could prevent you from a job opportunity. Professionalism plays a big part on whether or not you are hired. If school doesn’t require code- switching then you would not get the practice you need in order to really impress employers in adult-life.
Schools also require code-switching because it creates a productive environment for students to work, learn and focus in. Some may disagree with this by saying that it is better for students to speak their own way because then they will be more comfortable at school therefore they focus better. This is incorrect because although students can feel comfortable in their own skin during school not learning to code-switch and not practicing it daily allows for distractions, unprofessionalism and academic performance. For example in an Education Week article it says “Students who learn to "code-switch" early show better academic achievement by the end of elementary school than those who take longer to do so.” In other words, students who were consistently taught to code switch came out with better grades than those who didn’t. Implying that code switching not only helps to speak correctly around different people and in different environments but also with academic achievement.
Students are required to code switch at school because when you aren’t in school who need to be able to navigate the way you speak with certain people. For example you wouldn’t speak the same way with your friends than with your professor. As an extreme example you wouldn’t speak with President Obama the same way you would speak with your mother. Schools also require students to code switch because it promotes an efficient use of time. That is to say that the way you speak can influence how you use your time. For instance, speaking in complex sentences and getting your point across clearly and quicker. In short, schools require you to code switch because it creates structure and guidelines of how to speak with certain people in the future as an adult and at school.

Hello, alez. Here's a review for your work.
Well, it is really an important topic to write about and also, quite uncommon. That's really very good of you to bring this topic to readers attention. But, you have to arrange your writing in a better way.
First of all, you have written this into a bit informal way, saying things directly to the reader using "You". But,I think, it would be better to write this using general terms.
Then, I found that you actually said the same thing using different words and examples in the three paras. Don't do this. To write an article, or essay, you should at first point out which things you want to include. Then plan how many paras will be needed to write them. Remember, each para should have a different thing to talk about. You shouldn't discuss the same thing in different paras. I am giving you this link. You will get a better description of how to write good essays.

Also, I think, you shouldn't start your essay or article with a direct line. It should be something that has a close relation to the topic but not the topic line itself.
You have to be careful about grammar and punctuation. Also, you should try to write articles without using "you" too much.
The sentence isn't complete cus the part "serious matter" doesn't make sense. Also, "valuable information" doesn't sound so good. Try using another word or expression.
Actually, whatever I would like to mention is described in the link that I have given to you. Read it thoroughly. I hope it helps. And keep on writing about these important yet overlooked topics.
Heya here to do a little review for you, first of all really cool topic. It’s something I haven’t really thought of that much before but I realize myself that I like everyone else do this a lot. Ok first of all let’s just get the smaller nitpicks out of the way.
minor errors I do that myself all the time as well. Also I feel as if though you say code-switching a bit too often, since you already mentioned it in the first sentence here there is no need to do so in the second one as well so I would change it to “the principal didn’t seem very pleased by this” just to make it simpler.

In this part “In other words this tea cher was about him code-switching accidentally andat the worst time too. The principal didn’t seem very pleased by his code-switching.” You managed to combine and and at into one word and teacher is one word as well
Once again here “Schools also require code-switching because it creates a productive environment for students to work, learn and focus in.” it’s unnecessary to mention code switching again instead just go with “schools require students to do this because it creates a productive environment for students to work, learn and focus in.” you seem to do this a lot through out the entire thing so id go through it again and read it out loud just to see, as it becomes very over used quickly.
“For example, in an article explaining the reasons for code switching, one person’s story was about an encounter with his principal “One day my principal walked into my room and asked me,” in this part you don’t mention your source wich is something you have to do in a formal essay, preferably using in text citations.
Overall this is a decent essay, but i feel as if though your point doesn’t come across very heavily. As you more seem to just repeat the same thing over and over again in each paragraph. So I would recommend rewriting it a bit differently and preferably mixing up the writing a bit just to make it more of an interesting read. Good luck to ya
