Love is harsh
Love is kind
Love is bound to make you blind

Love is crazy
Love is compelling
Love will throw you down some times

Love is cherished
Love is craved
Love will be even more naive

Warning this is kind of a Debby-downer review, but it needs to be. Like the other reviewers mentioned, this is very vague and doesn't have many emotions tied into it. Your third line of every stanza has little to nothing to do with the rest of the stanza and doesn't sound fluent. Someone noted before that you tried really hard to make this a very short poem. Why? It's been known that love is a complicated thing to take about, and even harder to define. So why would you want to shorten such a lengthy discussion? I am sorry that I am being kind of sour toward the poem, it really does have potential, I just want to make sure that you can write you best in order to be your best.

This is kind of vague why is love harsh? Why is love crazy. The poem seems like a list. Sorry to be rough but this poem has no feeling or emotion. Start the sentence off with something else because Love is to repetitive and it gets annoying.
Sorry to be tough but I am just saying.

If you have a questions about what I said feelfree to pm me anytime!

To me, it just didn't make sense. What about love being harsh and kind will make you blind? Your third line in each of the three poems has nothing to do with what is said above. To be honest, you tried too hard to make a short poem that's to the point and you tried too hard to rhyme while doing that. Don't force your writing, just let it flow from your head to the paper. Or from your head to the keyboard =P

This might be ages late but I thought I'd review it anyway.

I love the use of anaphora. Some people may see it as mindless repetition, but in my opinion it really works. Especially the whole triplet of triplets. (The number nine is reputed for its mystical properties!)

You started out with a rhyme scheme and then you suddenly went to pararhymes (half-rhyme), which threw me a little. Either go for a proper scheme, pararhymes or nothing at all.

The real problem with this is that it lacks IMAGERY. You show some evidence of this ("Love will throw you down sometimes") but this is simply an idiomatic expression and therefore not particularly fresh. A lot of this is telling. Strive to SHOW us your feelings about love: one way (and the way I prefer) is through evocative images. Don't glibly say:

"Love is cherished"

Expand this:

"Love is a cherished fruit,
Forbidden in excess but forgotten in strife."

Something like that.

Hope this helps.

Gahks :D

P.S. Jamie, I don't think she meant "through" in "Love will throw you down..." - this is an idiom referring to how love can ruin yourself.

Hmm, too short to really crit. But, I'll do my best. Um, well it didn't seem to flow to me, please edit it and find the right words. It sounds as if you slammed them all together. I'm sorry dear, but that's what it sounds like.

One question: "Why?" You tell us how love is, but that's nothing new to use, tell us why? Don't just keep on saying how it is without showing why it's like that? Let me show ya:

Love is harsh
Love is kind
Love is bound to make you blind

Love is crazy
Love is compelling
Love will throw you down some times

Love is cherished
Love is craved (YOU never tell us why of any of these things, which confuses me greatly and bores me. I know how love is, how is it too ya and why?
Love will be even more naive

Overall: Show don't tell. Work on that.

Good luck

Hmm, I liked this. But I would've liked it more if it were a bit longer :)

"Love is harsh
Love is kind
Love is bound to make you blind"

I liked this stanza because of the good rhyming

Overall: Nice job, maybe expand it a little? But I'm sure your mother will love it anyway! :)

All the best

I thought that the poems flowed well and the rhyming was pretty good. But I do have to agree, they are really short.
You said that's 3 poems right?
Well, it would sound a lot better if you put them all together to make it one poem. You wouldn't really have to do a whole lot to it to make it that way. The poems already seem to be one, really it would just need an easier flow from one stanza to the next.
The underlying meaning is good as well.
All in all, a well written poem (or 3). I think it would be great for mother's day.

This is really short, and to me it doesn't flow. I like the hidden meaning...but, I don't think it flows well. I would suggest lengthening it, and working on the way it is read. read it outloud to yourself.

Also, in the 6th line, I believe, you said "through" and I think you meant "throw."

Hope that helped.

Jamie
