FOREVER YOURS
Judge me if you want to, but I’ll tell you this, my notion that what I had done was right will be unwavering and you can’t change a single strand of that idea. You may not understand me but I’m rest assured that I will never regret my decision.
He
was just an average looking guy, wearing a slightly ruffled white
polo in going to school. He was not everybody’s dream person
only mine. The moment he caught my eye, I know that I have seen that
single speck of light behind his shoulders, which means, he was my
soul mate. On the other hand, even a single glance at me he did not.
Moreover, why should he notice me?
I wear glasses; I had a fair
complexion but pale, pale enough that you would say I lack the right
amount of nutrition. I have kinky hair, pale lips and thick eyebrows.
If you would pass me by on the corridors, I am sure you would
question where all those fashion magazines and beauty products
intended for my generation. Whatever, I’m comfortable with who
I am.
However, the irony of all, I have a beautiful best friend.
It all started when I save her from a pick pocket-guy who might have
stolen her cell phone if I never interfere. I know that most of us
believe that we are all destined to have that one person to love for
the rest of our lives. Well, I believe also that we are also fated to
know a friend who will fit like a jigsaw puzzle in our hearts. That
is what Anabelle was for me. Even though we are poles apart in terms
of physical attributes, we clicked together. She protected me from
those mocking remarks of our classmates. We laugh and cry together.
We shared secrets but I have two things that I keep in the dark away
from her. Things are better this way.
One day, Anabelle and I were
on the library doing our research for a certain class. We were busy
finding the right books to serve as our references. What we did was,
we gathered all the possible books e found on the shelves. As you see
as we went to our designated table our arms are fully loaded with
books. Then I saw him coming towards our direction smiling. This is
the secrete number 1 which I had kept from Anabelle. I never wanted
her to know about Dustin.
My heart fluttered wildly upon seeing
him. ‘Oh no, maybe he’ll help me this books, I dont know
what to do, my hands are trembling,” my mind thought. Yeah, I
was right . He did help but it was not me whom had had lend his hand
but Anabelle. I blushed not because he had passed near me but of the
fact that he never offered to help me although I was walking ahead of
Anabelle. I silently proceeded to the table , all of my strength left
me. Another thing was I wanted to run away because he shared on our
table all because of Anabelle. He loves my best friend.
As the
story goes, Dustin courted Anabelle of course with me having to
witness it all. I witnessed him rendering a love song for Anabelle,
bringing foods, taking her home and giving her gifts on special
occasions. The fact that the two persons whom I love dearly seemed be
cradled by the arms of love gave me strength in those times when I
wanted to avoid being with Anabelle because it just really
hurts.
Anabelle gave her “yes” to Dustin one night
when the three of us were waiting for the rain to subside so that we
could go home. It ende up that we just walk home amidst the pouring
rain. My tears poured together with those raindrops.
Months
passed, even a year. I was half-alive all those times. I experienced
building a bridge between Anabelle and Dustin in times of their
fights. Yeah, call me a fool or what, but I will not give up my
friendship with Anabelle as my love for Dustin would never weaken.
Then on one cold night, Anabelle called me up crying. I immediately
went to their house and asked her what is wrong.
“I had just
broken up with Dustin, Hazel. There is this person. He was a
childhood friend of mine. We only met a week ago but I know that he
is different. I think I have fallen for him. Tell me that I had done
the right thing,” Anabelle sobbed.
“What’s up
with you? You dropped Dustin just as easy as that. It is not fair.
You are with him for more than a year! , I yelled.
“Yes but
you don’t understand. I had felt a different spark. You would
not get my explanation because you never loved at all”, she
yelled back
You just never know, Anabelle . I thought you’ll
take care of Dustin. My mind countered quietly. “Okay, I’m
sorry. But is that what you really want”,? I asked her.
“I
know I have been unfair but I think I’m doing the right thing”.
She answered.
Anabelle had been selfish, for that uncertain
reason, she dumped Dustin. I tried to hate her but I cannot.
Meanwhile, Dustin seemed to be not himself. He never tried to
approach me to get to Anabelle.
One time, he just smiled weakly at
me when he saw me going in his direction but he hurried away. I tried
to follow him for there is something different in his movement. I was
about to call his name when I realized that he had heeded on the
nearby woods. There was a little hut there and I saw him entered. It
was almost dark but he still was not coming outside. Fear crept me. I
ran towards the house. As I entered the door, Dustin’s lifeless
body, hanging on the ceiling, greeted me. I wanted to scream but my
voice seemed left. The next thing I knew was I was embracing him with
all my might while tears flooded my face.
Love
and life was he. Life can’t exist without love. So was I , I
know I’ll never live without him. I know he will curse me with
what I’ll do but I can’t take seeing his body with no
life. He might have a promising life ahead but he wasted it because
of my best friend.
I put all my conscience aside. I bared my
pointed teeth and sunk it into his neck. He deserves to live, a
second chance to be happy again if not with me, with another person.
After a while, I wiped his precious blood off my lips and waited,
then, my magic. He slowly opened his eyes. His eyes met mine and then
followed a bewildered question in his lips, “ Hazel, what
happened?”.
For a couple of days, Dustin avoided school. He
never showed up. I exposed my greatest secret in life to him, only
him. But what’s the use of being a vampire if I can’t
save the one I love? Now, he will live forever, and I will wait for
him forever .
Anabelle regretted what she had done. Funny, I
thought , she never realized the damage that you had done on
Dustin’s life.She said
that she wanted Dustin again on her life. The thing between her and
her childhood friend was merely brought about by the fact that he
missed him so much , being a close friend. It was Dustin whom she
truly love that’ she will do everything to have him back.
And
how would I react with that? I’m just too tired of anything
else. I just assured her that Dustin would be back one day. I wonder
on the other hand if what my mother told me once, that once we inject
our venom to someone we wanted to live, that person would forever be
ours, would be true. But I know how strong love is, and I never
expect that Dustin would be mine. Perhaps, his love for Anabelle
would prevail.
One day, he came back. Anabelle and I are together
that day. Anabelle run to hug him. I closed my eyes while pain seared
my heart.I had to accept the fact that they are soulmates , not me
and him.
I slowly opened my eyes again. That day
I saw three things. The first one was ,Dustin freeing himself from
Anabelle’s embrace . The second was Anabelle’s face
streaming with tears.
And
the last one? Dustin’s pale but glowing face with his hand
wiping my tears while whispering “I’m forever yours”.

Hello!
Happy review day! Hopefully you're doing okay and welcome to the site! Nice, lovely work to get started! This was indeed sweet! Except for there's few typos and I found some tense problems.
First I would like talking about character development. You have three vital characters here: Hazel, Dustin, Anabelle. Anabelle is the general girl-next-door type. She's her ordinary feelings. She gets lost, makes mistake, regrets it. Dustin, however, you haven't talked much about him. It's just what Hazel feels about him. How she sees him. And, Hazel, on the other hand, is a quite relatable character until you've exposed her true identity. I don't believe that only being a vampire earns you extra sympathy, instead if she remained an ordinary person, then, the story would be more inspiring. But, that's just what I think. And, if you're looking forward to doing further editing with this story, which I think you should do, I'd suggest you to write more from Dustin and Anabelle's perspectives. And, add more details about the boy, after all, the story is mainly about the boy, isn't it? Or, about the girl who loves the boy?
Now, another thing your story need is more dialogues. Dialogues make stories lively and more interesting and it's the path by which readers get to understand the characters more deeply. Because, spoken words are always important. And, I think you should emphasise the Hazel-being-vampire part. That comes as a great shock to the readers so they deserve to know more about it. Like, just write how she used to struggle for this and felt different. Yes, you definitely gave hint at first but those were not clear enough. I just had this impression that, she's a girl, a nice girl, not very good looking girl.
So, explain your characters. Another thing highly recommended to you, proofread your stories! I think your previous reviewer already told you enough about those (The reason I tried avoiding the talk about typos) so, just go through them. I'm sure you'll find it helpful.
Have a great day!
Dear Margauxalchem,
nice story! Although I think the plotline is okay, the little story you have here needs a lot of work. You have many spelling, punctuation, and wording errors, most of which are easy to fix. However, there are some words in places that would make your story better if they were removed. I'm sorry if my review offends you, if you don't agree with my views, or if I nitpick to much. I shall try to go in order.
" One day, he came back. [came puts this in past tense] Anabelle and I are together that day [are puts this in present tense, which is different from the previous sentence]." I think you could improve this story by putting it in past tense. To do that, replace words like "wearing", "know", and "are" with words like "wore", "knew", and "were". Throughout the story you switch between present and past tense in way that is very confusing.
"You may not understand me but I’m rest assured that I will never regret my decision." Please take out the "I'm" as it will make it make more sense.
"He was just an average looking guy, wearing a slightly ruffled white polo in going to school." Take out the "in" and replace it with "and".
"The moment he caught my eye, I know that I have seen that single speck of light behind his shoulders, which means, he was my soul mate." Please fix the "know" to "knew" as that is part of the tensing problem you have that I mentioned earlier. I won't mention all of the tensing errors, as there are too many, but I shall call you out on some of them. Please, please, please fix your tenses! Besides that, take out the comma between means (which should be meant, anyway) and he.
"On the other hand, even a single glance at me he did not." Say instead, "However, he didn't even glance at me". They way you have it phrased, it doesn't connect very well to the previous sentence, and it makes it sound like you are imitating Yoda (Yoda you sound like. Fix this, you must).
"If you would pass me by on the corridors, I am sure you would question where all those fashion magazines and beauty products intended for my generation." Please replace "corridors" with "halls" as it better fits the school setting, and at the ending of "generation" put "have gone to", other wise, this with only be a sentence fragment, and not an actual sentence.
"Whatever, I’m comfortable with who I am." Instead of "whatever" which makes it sound like she is attacking the people who disapprove of her appearance, put "I don't usually care about my appearance".
"However, the irony of all, I have a beautiful best friend." Instead of "the irony of all", which doesn't make sense, put "irony of ironies". This might not make sense to you, but it means that it is really, really ironic, more so than most other ironic things. If you don't like that, put "because of" in front of "the irony" to make it make sense.
"It all started when I save her from a pick pocket-guy who might have stolen her cell phone if I never interfere." Again with the tensing! Please take out the "guy" from "pick pocket-guy" and stick with "pick pocket" as it makes it sound more specific and professional. Also, take out "never" and replace it with "hadn't".
"Well, I believe also that we are also fated to know a friend who will fit like a jigsaw puzzle in our hearts." Please take out one of the two "also"s, preferably the first one after "believe".
"She protected me from those mocking remarks of our classmates." Take out "those and put in "the" instead, and please give an example of what the narrator does for Anabelle.
"We shared secrets but I have two things that I keep in the dark away from her." Please split this into two sentences as it would make more sense. Thew way I would do it is "We shared secrets together. However, I have kept two important things away from her." The way you have it now, you make some sense, but it would be clearer and better fit the story if you fix it the way I have shown you.
" Things are better this way." Saying "things" here is redundant, please change this to "Everything" or "It".
I shall come back and review this more, but I need to get off here soon. Sorry for not continuing!
