Hi, just going to jump straight in and say that I really love this poem. Using first perspective on a washing machine, an everyday object we commonly replace or discard, really made me feel rejected, which is an emotional technique a lot of poets (including myself) struggle with.
One thing I really loved was the rhythm. Using one or two words in each line mirrored a washing machine - constantly churning and working, which really made me feel like it couldn't stop working or else it would be replaced. Also, the words you used, which I have seen in many poems before, really came together and created a feeling many people struggle to create. There are a few words I might review, just because there might be better synonyms to invoke the emotions who've established.
In total, I agree with William. This is pretty phenomenal, but I do recommend you keep revisiting the poem over a few weeks. Sometimes there are ways to improve great poems, but keep in mind that there are also times you have to stop tinkering with it. Anyways, keep making more poems! Can't wait to see what you write next. 😊
First of all I have to say I love the Mitski song you referenced, I've had it on loop all day. As for the review I have to offer you so much praise, I LOVE the rhythm you found while writing this piece---or me reading this piece, technically. The beats and pacing are phenomenal, almost like a prayer, or the beating of a heart, which adds so much more emotional depth despite using particularly simple language, which in itself is an incredible literary choice because it makes sure that the message is clear and unlost in the progression of the work, the same applies to the deliberate use of only lowercase and minimal punctuation. It makes everything feel like it is coming from a raw place.
Overall, I love this.
And I know it may not mean anything coming from a stranger on the internet, but I understand the feeling. I can promise you it gets better with time.
Have a wonderful day, and happy writing!
