angel

PreviousNext

Life and death are pretty much the same.

There’s an angel for both

Death

Sweet

Blissful

Death

When it finds you,

accept it,

knowing you were loved.

Those who bullied you

Will miss you most.

Those who ignored you

Will visit you more than the rest

Those who broke your heart

Will realize how much they loved you

Those who truly cared

Will move on

But never forget you.

Life

Cruel

Painful

Life

You will be made fun of

Laughed at

Pressured

Tortured by words

Teased

And hurt.

Live it to the fullest.

And in realizing this,

I know that life can hurt

But death can wait. Never forget it.

A super poem!

First, I like the way you described the life-and-death complex. People usually view death as some big, scary evil. But you viewed it as some gate to 'a posthumous happiness'. When some people die in our life, we miss them even if we used to ignore them (and even hate them). You remind me of Passenger's "Let her go":-

"Well you only miss the light when it's burning low,
only miss the sun when it starts to snow".

Your approach to life is a bit Stoic. You said that we should endure physical and emotional pain patiently. But, on the other hand, we should 'live it to the fullest' because that's the best we can do.

You did not mention what really happens to people after death, but rather what happens to those who know people who have died. This poses a question to some readers: "So what's next? afterlife? nothing?"

I assume from the semi-biblical language you used in your opening lines "Life and death are pretty much the same. There’s an angel for both" that you probably believe in God and afterlife. Maybe you just used the angel thing metaphorically, but I think you used it literally.

All in all, your poem is an excellent view of life and death that applies to both atheists and believers. We should just enjoy our life and put pain and hardships behind us. And if tomorrow comes with death in its hands we should welcome it with no fear because after death our memory will touch many people around us :).

I give your poem a 9.5/10. Keep up :D

This was really interesting, still is actually.

When I first read it, I found it a little confusing. I was having trouble understanding be, because at first you write about death and accepting it, then you write about it once more and letting it come as it will. Then I realized that at first, you are talking about natural death, and then you are talking about suicide. I read it through four times and now it makes much more sense. This poem, is actually really inspirational, it sends my thoughts in a whole new perspective.
I like how you wrote it, as a mix of single word lines and actual sentences, it gave more substance to the poem and meaning.

All in all, good job!

Keep on Writing

I really appreciate it! the format was formulated to make the reader actually stop and think about the words.

Well you did a good job! I think that the format really enabled you to reach out and show the readers what you are saying!

My gosh. When I clicked on this I wasn't expecting that. This is really beautiful! I'm just like so moved right now I cant even review. I'll come back later to leave a review, after I get over how amazing and eye-opening and inspiring this is.

"I know that life can hurt
But death can wait. Never forget it."
I am surely going to write this down on the walls of my room. Beautiful lines.
I like the WHOLE concept of your poem. Its my personal philosophy about life and death, so i love you for putting it into words. But i think with a little bit of effort we can make it better-
1) Either remove the rhyme scheme or make a specific pattern. No pattern is visible to me hear.
2) Rather than changing sentences use periods to add and mark pauses.
3)You have a really beautiful idea but you need to express it in a better, poetic and convincing manner.

Now, i personally rate this poem 4/5.
I loved the opening, the conclusion, the content and the style of narration but i seriously want you to work on the narration.

Keep writing,
sincerely, your future "super fan"!
