Twilight, New Moon, Eclipse

Okay, I'm going to be honest. I used to adore the Twilight Saga. I even had an account on thetwilightsaga.com. And me and my best friend do see all the movies together...including Vampires Suck (such a bad movie. Not the least bit funny).

But I have to say, I hate it. Not one her idea's are original, in fact, most of them are taken from the same person. She's an absolutely dreadful writter, there was no plot, no point. All the book were absolutely terrible.

And compared to other vampire novels, Twilight absolutely SUCKS! They are some of the worst books I've ever read. They're dreadful. The movies were all bad too.

Honesly, I have no idea why they got so popular. They are really bad books.

I swear all the books only consist of "Bella I love you"(edward) "I love you too edward"(bella) "But I can't"(edward) "Bella I love you" "But I can't" "I love you bella!" (jacob) "Back off, she's mine!"(edward) "Bella, I'm leaving" (edward) "Boohoohoo for me" (bella) "I still love you bella" (jacob) "You're my best friend jake!" (bella) "The girl I left killed herself so I'm gonna kill myself" (edward) "I love you edward" (bella) "I love you too bella"(edward) "I love you too bella!" (jacob) "I can't make up my mind!" (bella) "Bella will you marry me" (edward) "yes, but don't tell jake" (bella). He tells jake, jake gets made "Jake I love yuo, I'm goig to kiss you now even though I'm engaged!" They kiss "I love you bella." (jacob) Bella and edward get married, bella gets pregnant, Jake falls in love with a toddler, the end.

Also, these books are sick! I mean, seriously! Jacob and a baby!?!? She basically said Oh look, jacob loves this baby. They will be together forever. Him in this toddler are gonna hook up.

Breaking dawn is defo the best! cant get enough of it, i've read it 7 times now, once i stayed up all night reading it, then i had to go and ride my horses, almost fell off because so tiered!!!!!!! lol thats me and books!

Cant decide if team jacob or eddi..... (I know its Edward, eddie sounds cuter) I want Edward to stay with Bella, but Jacob is really sweet too................................... ahhhhh cant decide!!!! Shame Jacob now loves renesme. Woops!

I am packing up now. Just so that once I say what I have to say, no one will be able to come chasing after me with sledgehammers and flaming pitchforks.
I almost puked. I am sorry, I truly am (I know what it feels like when your favourite book is insulted); I mean no offence to Twilight fans. I really did. They're all in bad taste, terribly written, with a terrible plot and terrible characters. There is no moral warmth. None at all. No-one has any moral fibre. WHERE DID THE GOOD GUYS GO???

Okay, I know I shouldn't be offending it. No book I ever write will ever be as successful. But I just wanted to put my opinion out there. Tear it to bits.

I like the books, bar Breaking Dawn. I always have. I must admit, and one stage (just after they announced that the film rights had been picked up, back in the day when MTV wanted to turn it into some kind of Wu-Tang Clan movie), was completely obsessed, but I'm not so much any more. If I do, I do, let's move on and talk about something else. There may be something that you completely love - say Katie Price or Paris Hilton - that I completely hate. But you don't see me going around blasting you for it. A little respect on each side is needed, I think. Oh, and when I say you, I mean it metaphorically.

I picked up Twilight before it become such a huge popular thing.
And honestly, I still don't hate it.
I enjoyed being able to read Twilight, because I like reading. It was another story that was interesting. I mean, sure I know that it's become so popular that it's annoying, but that's it. The popularity is only annoying. It doesn't make me hate the book, though. I mean, I don't go back and read it or write fanfiction to it and stuff. I don't totally obsess over it. It's just something that I once read, like a lot of other books, and now it's kind of around.
I mean, the same thing with Harry Potter. And I know a lot of you will say they won't compare to one another. But really, I only read the first six books, and even then didn't read them. My mother read them to me when I was younger. I started the seventh and never finished it. And to this day, Harry Potter's just some series I read and nothing more.
Just like Twilight.

I will say it's fun to play around with Twilight and see everybody fight and rant at each other about whether they hate it or not. I mean... what's the point, really? You like it, you hate. I mean, some people like cheese and other people don't, and you don't see them tearing out each others throats. Everybody's got their own opinion, everybody's ALWAYS going to have their own opinions.

Also, I have to say, my friend did write a great Twilight story. I came up with the idea one day, we did a little research and then she wrote it. We took Edward and Bella and switched them. So now Bella's the vampire, and she lives with the Swan family. Then there's Edward who goes to Forks to live there. Thing is, we also switched the genders of all the other characters. So now Jacob is Jade, Alice is Adrian and so forth...

I seem to have gotten off on a little rant here, but really that's all I have to say about the Twilight series.
Don't let Twilight ruin other vampire or werewolf stories for you, though.

The twilight series is amazing and i read all four books in one week. I simply couldnt put them down. Edward stole my heart while i was reading these books and i grew to hate jacob and his childish ways. I recommend these books to everyone they are fantastic!

I agree with the kitten claws above me. I've read far too many great and poor books to mistake Stephenie Meyer as anything but a mediocre writer in the romance genre. Which wouldn't bother me, if people read her books on the quiet with their whiskey, enjoying their senseless guilty pleasures. But now everyone and their brother has read twilight and enjoyed it on some base, crass level. I couldn't make my way through the series; I stopped after the first few paragraphs of the third and had soem of my freinds tell me the rest of the story.

Oh dear, well I'm just saying ahead of time- I dont want to sound like a party pooper, but the Twilight Series aren't the "best books ever written" or such. However, the first book in the series was probably the most interesting and exciting book of the series. But- the rest were just to full of drama and teenage jealousy and hormones. I give Stephenie Meyer credit for the creative world that she portrays in Forks, WA- but it still doesn't change my opinion on the books.

I honestly didn't care for any of the Twilight Saga books.
For one, they're all perfect characters, I mean it's not to hard to figure out that Stephanie herself is Bella and it's all her sexual adventure with a vampire.
Next, there's not plot whatsoever.
The reason the books are so popular is because Bella has no personality and anyone can put themselves in her shoes. And then there's the fact that she repeats tons of words in the whole series! It's said that Stephanie Meyer never wrote the word 'said' in the whole first book, and I don't really want to check that out, but she covers that up with enough 'breaths' for a person to hyperventalate.
Next, her vampire sparkle
And then there's Edward: Edward is too perfect and has no flaws either. Even vampires should have flaws besides wanting to suck human blood because it’s natural to them.
Speaking of perfect characters, back to Bella, Stephanie covers up having no flaws by her being 'clumsy.' That's really not a flaw because Edward catches her most of the time anyway.
And then Stephanie makes these amazing characters like Alice and Jasper and never thinks about developing them! Arg! I want to know more about them because they're semi-notperfect!!!
And then Twilight has so many factual errors! Like 'Rosalie's family was doing fine in the Great Depression because her father was a banker,' um, in all reality bankers were dirt poor in those times! And then how Jasper had to 'lie' to join the Confederate Army when he was 18, they would've let him in then!
And then there's the little fact that Edward Cullen is a pedifile, I mean he's like 100 years old! Does that scream pedifile to you that he wants to have Bella?
The only reason Bella and Edward are attracted to each other is because she smells good and he's hot. And then the world population will come to an end because all girls who read this book will think they are Bella and will wait for their Edward to come until they are old. And he’ll never come!
Meyer can’t think of original names. The only original name she used was Rennesme, which is combination of two names and doesn’t count.
There is too much face touching. It's both predictable and childish.
Stephen King agrees that Stephanie Meyer can’t write ‘worth a darn’. And Stephen King is an amazing writer!
I hate that fangirls are so blinded by their love for Edward that they don’t realize the book is terrible!

If the first 200 pages of your book rely on the mystery of a character’s identity, don’t slap “First, Edward was a vampire” on the back cover. Meyers wrote four books about nothing, really.
There’s far too little actual conflict in the story. But this probably stems from having a flawless main character.
Edward is HOT. We get it. The reason Edward can’t read Bella’s mind is because she doesn’t have one.
There’s nothing worse than a fan girl going insane over a fictional guy. It’s rather pathetic actually, so, um, yeah, get a life and keep reading those books, chickies.
Bella has no goals and no future, her life revolves around Edward. What is that teaching the teens of our age?

I couldn't agree more. Stephanie Meyer is a good writer, but it wasn't exactly the best writing I've ever seen. The story was good and everything, but I just feel like the story was empty writing and I think that her main character is sort of pathetic. I thought the story would've been better if the character was stronger I guess you could say or I think that maybe she should've made Edward the main character. I'm not saying that twilight is horrible in every way, but geez. I don't think that she should be getting all of this praise. All I'm saying is, as a writer, it wasn't the best writing I've ever read and I think that it wasn't a great book. Sorry, I like Harry Potter better.

Stephanie Meyer could have been great--she certainly had the passion for her characters--but she didn't get enough advice along the way. Like, if she posted her work here, she'd get some serious critiquing. I think that now, she's just floating in a bubble of praise from the fangirls, so getting better is going to be a lot more difficult.

I thought the books were well written, but absolutely murdered by the film. They were dire actors and could not act.
Although Stephanie Meyer is a good author, she cannot create a new story line.
Her new book, The Host, maybe thrilling, but her books are all on the super natural, and if she wants to be noted as a good author in history (Dickens, Stoker,e.c.t), she must learn to write as she does, but in a different context (normal human emotions?).

I read Twilight before all the hype and I don't know it was just... mediocre. It was exactly what I expected from a book about teenage vampires. And I'm a fourteen year old girl: I should be swearing my eternal love to Edward Cullen.

What I don't get is the hype over all of this. Although SM must be a genius from the way she can control legions of teen girls with a book. At least they're reading now.

I liked Twilight but boy did SM reuse the same words a couple a hundred times a page...
"Grimace, chisled, marble, amber, liquid, topaz, Blah... Blah.. Blah"

But Breaking Dawn was just sick in a book.

By 15 year old. I meant she has the limited vocabulary of a child with a dictionary beside them. They find a smart looking word, write it down to look intelligent. Read the Oxford Literary Meanings book. *The Dictionary* It's a fantastic read. >.>

Seriously. Bad book. Seriously.
Though I have to hand it to Meyer that she managed to get a lot of non - readers to actually read. No matter how bad the book was. And she made quite a handsome lump of cash from it. So congrats to her for that.

But she is not a good writer, let alone a talented one. Her vocabulary is limited to one of a 15 year old. Her characters are stereotypical and one-dimensional. Her plot is long and boring. And her idea is just... blah.

I found Breaking Dawn absolutely repulsive. It was just...gross. Seriously, you have a teenage audience. No need to get that kind of stuff in their heads. And personally I find Edward to be a ceepy, not-to"dazzling" stalker. Jacob is an obessive friend soon to be stalker. and Bella's just... in a comic book she's be those stick character people throw around. Some silly rag doll that's in love with anything that's "supernatural" / creepos.

That's my opinion. Anyone else's is anyone else's, doesn't matter to me but I suggest subtly to read any book you want with a larger vocabulary range.

I can't say I like Twilight (or the others) at all. I can sort of see the appeal as a beach read, but not as a, I don't know, real piece of literature.
I think everyone else pretty much made my points about the characters and the plot, (darn you guys are eloquent!) but my main problem is that Stephanie Meyer says that she doesn't "write meanings". But really, the messages that come across are things like, "Looks are the most important thing in a relationship", "Stalking is romantic, as long as the stalker is hot," etcetera.
Plus there's the fact that Bella and Edward, like, never ever grow as characters. Bella starts out a whiny clutz, and the ends a whiny clutz. Edward starts out, well, perfectgorgeousamazingperfecthotwonderfuldidImentionperfect, so what's to change there?

Actually Jacob was revealed as a werewolf in New Moon.

I think it would have been a thing I would have adored a few years ago, had I read it then. I totally understand why people would love it, people love to fantasise about these things. I do, but just not about Twilight. I read the first one and didn't think it was that special. But I don't understand why people get so het up about it saying how terrible it is? It's just a book (a BAD book given, but think of the joy it's given to people).

Ok,so I read the whole saga God knows how many times. I really liked them and each time I read them I felt like it was the first time I was reading them. But as I read each of them I found some flaws (using the author's favorite word) and that was one of them, the word repetition and my favorite was Breaking Dawn, it's toatally cool. I liked Twilight because it intorduces the new favorite vamp, meaning "dazzling " Edward but besides that, nothing. It's all about Bella's extreme clumsiness and how "dazzled" she was, boring. Then, when I saw some critiques about it saying that it was plotless I almost broke the machine, but as I read the book over and over again, I had to agree, sadly .BUt still with lack of plot and everything, I like the story.
So this is the oreder in which I like them.
1. Breaking Dawn
2. New Moon
3. Eclipse
4. Twilight

Yes, my dears, I actually read the whole series. They cost a hell lot and I was bought the hardbound copies and they would have been better use starting a fire than for reading.

I thought Twilight was ok. It was like VERY CLICHE chick lit with this weird sparkly vampires. But it was still bad. Compared to the other books it was ok though. New Moon felt like I was watching some kid groveling in a corner....

Ugh. Edwards annoying. Bella's got mental issues. Jacob's a wannabe indian stalker. Jaspers a friggin ghost. Alice is nothing more than a witch. And all of those other characters are nothing but losers. I don't know how anyone can stand Stephanie's writing. My opinion is that the human race (mainly females) obsess over change and cliche lovey crap. So when a writer changes one thing, everyone freaks out. I mean come on guys, seriously? Twilight? Vampire and Human cross? How can this happen? How can something dead make something alive? When Steph's books first came out, I have to admit it did keep my intriqued. After I read the series a second time, I was bored. Vampires should stay with Vampires. Just like in AVP. Aliens and Predators need to stay seperate or it causes a great deal of pain for our eyes. I am not trying to offend anyone, but it would be nice if everyone would stop freaking out about these books. They're words in hard cover. Nothing more.

OMG!!! I love those books they are all so awsome!!!!!! I'm a Twi-hard Twilighter!!!!!!! My favorite out of all of them is New Moon!!!! I'm a total Team Jacob!!!!! I know I'm a little late on replying but I couldn't resist!!!!

I couldn't resist throwing my bit in.

I've practically done a study on Twilight. I've been on YWS for over a year, and found oodles of Twifans and anti-Twilighters alike. The Twifans's writing is nearly always repetitive and flat, not to mention most often in first-person, and the characters are without substance. I'm not trying to insult anyone, this's my honest opinion and I have the right to say it. Meanwhile, the anti-Twi's writing was mostly better, more inventive, and original. The characters were less Bella and Edward copies, and the plot-lines actually interesting.

Of course, most of you'll snicker, and think, She's just biased and wishes she could write as well as Steph can.

UNTRUE! Well, to some extent. I read Twilight around the time I first joined YWS. In fact, someone (it's unlikely, but still) might remember that at first, Stephenie Meyer was on my Favorite Authors list. My opinion, at that time? I never liked Bella beyond the occasional chuckle at her cliche, self-deprecating jokes. Edward always annoyed me some, although the allure of the perfect boyfriend was, to put it as Steph might, dazzling. I liked the plot-line okay, and it was sort of an addiction, for a while. Yes, I did like it.

But, wait. Stop. Rewind. Perfect boyfriend? Since when? If Bella hadn't had this fantastic blood, Edward never would have liked her! He never even would have noticed her, and this I can all but prove, because I read the draft of Midnight Sun on Stephenie Meyer's site after mostly extricating myself from Twilight's mundane clutches (more on that later). My point is, there really isn't anything about Bella to like, beyond her yummy blood. She's the stereotypical teenage girl, from her 'heart-shaped' face to her flat narrative. If Steph Meyer really was like that in high school (and I recall her admitting she was), then all I can say is that I feel for her friends. There never really is a clear reason for Edward to like Bella, and I'm not even going to start on the vampires-are-dead-how-the-hell-can-they-love thing.

I could go on like this for hours, but I think I'll skip that and say just one more thing. Even after I saw some reason (mostly from my lovely and smart older sisters) and started disliking Twilight (if not for the boring writing then because of the horrible example it sets for tween/teenage girls everywhere), I still harbored a sort of affection for the simple, sort of immature plot-line, and for the cliche-yet-loveable character that is Jacob Black - at least when you first really know him in New Moon. It was during those days of hating-but-still-sort-of-liking that series that I stumbled upon the first twelve chapters of Midnight Sun on Stephenie Meyer's official website.

So I read it. Or started, anyway. I got through a few chapters of Edward despising and then suddenly loving Bella before I had to stop. It was so boring! The parts that weren't him sitting in her bedroom at night staring at her beautiful heart-shaped face and wanting to run his hands through her silky brown hair tended to be of him thinking about sitting in her bedroom at night staring at her beautiful heart-shaped face and wanting to run his hands through her silky brown hair. I scrolled down to the ending of the last chapter (the twelfth, mind you), and it was pretty much the exact same slop, except now he actually could run his hands through her silky brown hair, because they were dating. Improvement? No, not really.

I gave Steph one last chance, of sorts. I pulled up my word-finder thing with a tap of Ctrl+F, and searched dazzling, icy, pale, and a few other words that seemed to keep popping up in the same places.

Let's just say I found way, way too many.

Honestly, I have nothing against Meyer. She can make a good love plot, but her characters are flat. It is good fluff, as has been mentioned on the comments site, but I don't think it has real depth. I've flipped through a few pages of it, and found an occasional spelling error. She can make a good story, but she can't tell it right. Okay guys, some people (like me...) haven't finished the series, so please put SPOILER! at the top of any posts with information that readers might not want to know yet. I read a bit of information in an earlier post (which i will not continue to read) that said [SPOILER!] "Bella was pregnant before she became a vampire" right in the FIRST line...basically just ruined any ounce of reason i had left to read the whole series.

Anyway, my sister (obviously...) has a copy of every book in the series, so i thought such a big phenomenon deserved at least the courtesy of reading the first book. Basically, the girls I know have all read it and loved it, the guys haven't read it, don't want to, and bash it anyway.

I didn't expect to be blown away, and so far I haven't been. I'm about 150 pages in. It's moderately engaging, but a few things turned me off, most due to personal preference. I'm not crazy about first person, especially when the MC is, ohhh say (just a random example) a teenage girl? It makes it seem like the story is actually being written BY a teenage girl, which would also explain all the oogling Bella's done at Edward already. First person can be used as an effective tool for developing a character, but in this case it really doesn't do anything for the story.

I think this series is such a big hit because it's a girl's fantasyland, not because of literary quality, which is generally what I go for.

I haven't read Breaking Dawn yet, but isn't she a vampire by then? And even if she's not, it could just be that Edward's paternal instincts are in control rather then his hunger cravings.

I just found it funny how during the whole book Edward can hardly stand to be around her because he wants her blood so bad- but in Breaking Dawn when Bella's vomiting blood and he gives her a C-section with his teeth, he doesn't go crazy. Shouldn't he be lapping up the blood or something?

Personally, the whole, Bella getting pregnant is too far fetched.

Because, very technically speaking, vampires are dead. This includes Edward, and to be able to have your reproductive organs functioning to their full potential, you need to be alive. A lot goes into the men's part in a woman getting pregnant. It only makes sense that once Edward made the transformation that his heart stopped beating, breathing was no longer necessary, blood would stop flowing, etc. Because those who are dead, don't do any of those things, including sperm production, and monthly courses.

Even if the change was a gradual one, after one hundred years, the transformation would be complete. I mean, as anyone heard of it taking longer then even a couple years to change from one species to the other?

I completely agree with the person who called Bella a Mary-Sue. She is so boring and perfect! The characters are very 2-D. The blatant "Edward worship" was disgusting. I understand, Stephanie Meyer- Edward has golden eyes and looks like a Roman god!

I'm quite curious about all this Twilight madness, I'm debating whether or not I should invest my time into the books..

The Twilight Saga definitely was not one of my favorites. I read the first one, because I was on a vampire spree-I had just read some Anne Rice, and I was actually really disappointed.
The only thing that really caught my attention was when Bella was bitten at the end of the first book. But then Edward saves her-naturally.

I just felt like there was a lot of filler, kind of like H.P. Not that the writing was bad, I just think it could have been told better. Plus the fact that the whole country is freaking out over it, is honestly kind of a turn off. I've read several books about vampires since that I thought were much better.

A little biology research would have fixed that but it seems S.M. didn't bother. I think that's one thing really bothered me in the book. The plot lacked a nice flow to it and it didn't seem realistic to me.

The main thing that bothered me in the book was Bella's character. She seemed absolutely pathetic. It was as if S.M. was saying that a girl has to a damsial in distress and needs to be rescued instead of showing that she can defend herself. I found it aboslutely insulting. Just because people can fall in love doesn't mean they don't have a life outside the relashonship.

I know a lot of you disagree with me but I honestly tried to like the book. Especially since all my friends love it.

I think the only reason Stephanie Meyer is so popular is because of the craptastic angst she puts in the books, the mary/gary stu characters, the teeny girl fascination with vampires, loads of things like that. I know there are a lot of big Twilight lovers out there, but I personally have mixed, tending towards negative feelings about this series.
First, Twilight fans please understand that I really respect Stephanie Meyer, and the work that she has put into this series. Her writing can be very good and is very engaging.

Twilight, the first book, was in my opinion the best, and if she had left it at that, I would be happier with the series. It was a great Idea and really draws the reader in. However, as I continued the series, I couldn't help but to notice a certain lack of planing in the books. They seemed like they were being cobbled together without much editing or revising. I also found that the series got kind of repetitive. It was always nice and happy for a time, with a few hints of some looming problem. Then suddenly something would happen, and there would be a huge rush to get somewhere, or do something. Then at least one character would get suicidal, and then somehow everybody comes out smiling in the end.
Finally, there is a complete lack of a message, theme, or any other type of main idea behind the story. Stephanie Meyer herself has said that it was written only for entertainment. I don't know about the rest of you, but I have always been taught that a piece of writing, particularly a story must have a main idea, a theme, something behind the story for your readers to take away when they finish reading it. Considering this, twilight is as shallow as a teacup. All in all, it just isn't the best quality literature. Good only for entertainment, not something that gives you much to ponder when you finish.
On the other hand, maybe this is what makes it good for some people. It has nice, happy ending, and could be a way for people to relax and get away from their troubles, without having to think too much about it. It's just not the type of book that inspires and interests me.

I'm a fan of Edward. I never understood those signs for "Edward or Jacob?" in book stores. It always seemed very obvious that it was Edward. Meyer pretty much admitted it, and the book made it obvious as well.

I'm 3/4 of the way through Breaking Dawn, and I must say, as exciting as it is, I'm a little disappointed.... though I need to finish it and sort my thoughts out before I can really affirm to a belief.

It comes out here tomorrow. Thanks for not giving the spoilers, else I'd read them. But from what you say, sounds like I won't be rushing out to buy it. I haven't read it, so this doesn't count as a spoiler, but no doubt it ends up Edward and Bella live happily ever after. I suspected that. I wish that he'd just die... or her, you know.

Sorry. As most people know here, the only part of the series I'm a fan of is Jacob Black.

I liked Twilight, New Moon, and Eclipse. I got BD yesterday and despite it's massive bulk (754 pages) I managed it in a little over 18 hours. Let's just say I was glad when it ended. I was super disappointed. I don't want to give anything away, but in my opinion, it was as predictable as a badly written fanfiction and I hated how everything that could've gone right did. It was utterly too unrealistic (I mean, haha, of course we're talking vampires and werewolves here) but Bella had everything perfect and it wasn't good enough. I don't know. The best part was getting to finally know Jacob Black the right way. I'm a converted Team Jacob member now.

[spoiler]The spoiler wasn't really that interesting to me - it has been obvious from other things that Stephanie Meyer has said in the past that it would be Bella and Edward [such as were she said she went back through Twilight and had to write Jacob into the story more]. The thing I don't like about Stephanie Meyer is that her books are so entirely predictable.[/spoiler]

I really hope she pulls a 'J.K. Rowling' and has some huge twists in this book, because everything so far has been pretty straightforward.

I was never able to relate with Bella, except for her hatred of expensive gifts. As arrogant as it sounds, I think I'm stronger than she is. Physically, mentally, emotionally...*blushes and feels dumb* Never mind.

I think the reason I love Jacob is because he makes things go wrong. He is the ONLY conflict in that whole series, besides the baddie vamps of course, but even they don't count because Edward's always there.

Stephenie Meyer is a great author and one of my biggest idols.

The two books in her series are very compelling in the ways of romance.

I think she does have little mistakes, but they are very hard to notice.

I think Meyer was a little dull during New Moon, thats why Twilight and Eclipse are my favorite.

The character Jacob made so many things go wrong in the book. Edward is the best; he is breathtaking even in a book!

I think the Twilight series is very easy to read and feel. It's very fluid, like Ed's movements and perfect lik ehis crooked smile.

Bella makes a wonderful character too, most of us girls can smoothly relate herself with her.

Meyer is great at dialogues and I love the conversations so much.

ya i think stephanie meyer is a much better writer than is shown in the books so far, but i got high hopes for breaking dawn! i mean... she never wrote a book before twilight, and she had a ton of pressure on the sequels, but im sure that after writing the host, she's gotten so much better!

plus, i must say that even though bella and edward are obsessed with each other, it is a good love story because of the flaws.

i think Stephenie Meyer is a lot better writer than is shown in the Twilight series. I think Twilight and all the other books in the series aren't particularly fantastic writing and plots but, they ARE entertaining (to me at least) and i do enjoy them. I think they aren't realistic (like the relationship between edward and bella) but if they are getting THIS many fans, then she is certainly doing something right.


I think as an author, Stephenie Meyer is a LOT better in the host. i know its taking this off topic, but it's SO much better than twilight in the plot, characters, and just in general, it's a lot better. i think people who don't like the twilight series should read that before they judge her as an author.

Jacob pwns the whole book series. I am going to watch the Twilight move solely for the werewolves.

I like the Twilight series as entertainment. It's not a deep read and it's something I can read for a day if I'm bored. Plus I like vampire series...so yeah.

Bella is irritating. I don't like her as the MC at all. She has no personality whatsoever or any hobbies besides excessive Edward drooling, cooking, and OCD cleaning.

Edward irks me. My friends are obsessed with him and want him as a boyfriend, but to be honest I think I'd rather be single than date an Edward. I mean, he stalked Bella and watched her sleep because she smelled good? Seriously, that's just creepy.

Then Jacob...I don't like him. He seems just as much as a whiny brat as the rest. "I'm gonna lyk kill myself if you don't make out with me for 5 pages!" Yeah, really mature and I don't like how he's excessively pursuing Bella when she has absolutely nothing going for her. I liked Jacob in New Moon before he started showing that he liked Bella.

But I'm going to get Breaking Dawn as an early birthday present and read it, but I'm pretty sure of what the outcome is going to be.

And, it annoys me, too, when people compare Harry Potter to Twilight. Stephenie Meyer is not the next J.K. Rowling. Sure, Meyer is creative and what not, but Rowling is always going to be better.

lil dono, i think you need to give eclipse a chance. i liked it much better than New Moon. I think New Moon was unforetunately nessecary to the story line. Stephenie meyer was writing what the characters would do, and she knows them much better than we do, b/c they originated from her mind. honestly, i didn't enjoy reading new moon as much b/c it was so sad, but i think it had to happen for eveything else to happen.


also, has anyone else read the first chapter of Breaking Dawn?? the day the special edition of Eclipse came out with the chapter in the back, my mom brought me to Borders and i read it there. lol. (Edward buys her a new car!!!)

and the whole edward vs. jacob thing... that's already been decided. In the last book it was a clear ending... she picked edward, and i dont think she's going to go back on it. As much as i love both of them, Bella made her choice already. (cough cough, edwards better!)

Every time I read the series, I swear it's like a poison. I'm so intoxicated with everything about Twilight to a point where I relate everything in my life with the characters. It's a bit startling and no other book has come close to this obsession I have with Twilight except for Harry Potter - which is another story altogether. The 'Twilight Intoxication' wears off after several months, yet I go on to fan sites for news about Stephenie Meyer and the series. What can I say? Her books are just so darn good! & the characters are so relastic that sometimes I even have a hard time beilieving that Edward Cullen is just a fictional character. Haha, it's a bit amusing. From witches to vampires...I love the fantasy stuff ;]

I love the books! I just finished Eclipse and thought it was fantastic! I more of a fan of Edward (Jacob seems too cocky and a bit jerk-ish. He implies that Bella will have to kiss him so he wont go battle but he does it anyways.) I can't ait for Breaking Dawn to come out! I read the first chapter and thought it was great.

I haven't read the first chapter of BD, but I've heard so much about it I might as well have.

This is one of the best series ever!! It goes right up there with Harry potter!! (Sorry, but you got yourself another HP freak)

Bella is great. She is really funny, but her dependency on Edward sometimes annoys me.

Edward is to perfect. He's an ideal boyfriend in some aspects, like the proteciveness, but he's just *too* perfect. Of course, sinse it's fictional, it's all good.

Jacob is..eh..I have mixed feelings. When he's being the Jacob Bella likes, then i adore him. When he's being obnoxious, I loathe him.

Hey! I really love Twilight.

Well Twilight was my favorite book hands down. Bit slow in the beginning but excellent plot and some interestingly captivating language. I enjoyed reading the whirlwind of Edward and Bella's romance before my eyes. The baseball and meeting the Cullen scenes were pretty awesome. I found them to be interesting during the Nomad scenes.

New Moon however was a different story. The beginning was good. I liked it when Jasper attacked Bella. It was interesting to see how much it takes to set him off. That was exciting. Then Edward left and while I do like Edward. I was still like "Yes! Now it's time for Bella to show that she can be strong on her own! YAY!" Then she goes canatonic and I was a bit angry. Love is grand and all but Bella needs to gather some inner strength. Not that I'm saying she didn't but she should have been really mad at him or something. Though I would like to know why Stephenie Meyer had went that angle. Of course when she finally snaps out of it and she goes to Jacob (who I like He reminds me of my puppy) I liked seeing how the friendship grew. Though when she went to Italy and saw Edward. I can understand that she can be happy and gooey but hello? The guy left her. Bella should have gotten really mad after a couple minutes. Not be so forgiving. Made the vampire work for his bread. Oops! Sorry I ranted... I thought the Volturi part was pretty sweet. I liked seeing the civilized monster that we see in books like Dracula or the Vampire Chronicles.

Eclipse rocked. I put it off for awhile because most of my friends left the book hating Jacob and I really did not want to hate him. I think Jacob is an interesting character. However when I finally got around to reading I finished it in a day. The plot was so interesting. Stephenie Meyer did a good job enticing audicenes with the murders in Seattle. The sense of growing fear like Bella felt for her fear of engagement or the fear of her transformation. The background on Jasper and Rosalie's pasts was probably one of my favorite. I practically gave into my instincts as one who loves good solid background information and nearly squealed. Then the differences between the vampires in the vampire society was amazing. Civilized, civilized monsters, or the things that go bump in the night was amazingly brought into the mix. Also the werewolf legend was one of my favorite parts. I however the lack of respect Jacob held for Edward and Bella's relationship aggravating. Though I did leave the book with a bitter happiness. I was happy that they were engaged and that Victoria was finally dead. Though I was sad for Jacob. I think he really loved Bella. It was heartbreaking because having your first love not return the feelings you have for that person is a heartbreaking senstation. (Did that make sense?) So I was happy to leave the book without a deep hatred for Jacob!

I can't wait for Breaking Dawn! Anyone see the cover? I love it.

Also a note on the movie. I learned from Harry Potter that you will be happier separating the book from the movie and just see them as separate entities. It made me happier and I personally can't wait for the movie.

New Moon...eh. I didn't hate it, but it was by far my least favorite of the three books. The ending was probably one of my least favorite parts. Come on? After how horrible Bella felt after Edward abandoned her, and how great she and Jake were getting along, she just freaking forgives Edward and they're instantly BF and GF again? That didn't make much sense to meh...

Eclipse: I loved it! It made me love Jacob so much more as a character, and dislike Edward a bit more. I admit I felt really sorry for Jacob in the end, because he not only got rejected by a vampire, but he got manipulated a lot by Bella and he was fine with it because he was so in love with her. :/

So as you can see, I'm a member of Team Jacob.

Personally, I don’t know what to think of these books, and if truth be told, I’d rather be free of them. Free in the sense of not waiting for the next tome to comes out, just to say (and know) that I read it, and waste money on it. I think the major reason of why I read the series is that I’ve started it…

I admit, though, that I’ve been in love the “Twilight” - that was when the first tome was out. It was absolutely fantastic, and, when you (well, I) read it once, it is, really. But then I started to have issues with the characters… and they became very unlikable to me. I’d like them to stand up more for themselves, make them make different decisions, and that really clashed with what they are, and their choices. That was happening around the second book’s appearance.

And since I had book one, and two, I thought I’d buy book too. Again, it was cool - and that I have to admit, and I do so freely - that it was quite okay during the first week. But, read it again? I cringe at the thought. The issues start all over again. The same happened with book three.

It's gripping, in a way, and interesting. I'm just disappointed that it works only once.

I don’t know. Bella irks me, Edward does, too… And Jacob… Ah, Jacob. I feel this inner need to like him, but I somehow can’t. It’s weird. You might say I read this book for the occasional appearances of Alice and Jasper, apart from knowing what’ll happen.

Lol, I have a complex love-hate relationship with the books too. Bella irritates me, Edward is...okay...and Jacob rocks. Honestly I'm looking forward to the movie more than the next book, just because Edward doesn't seem perfect.

I have a complex love-hate relationship with the Twilight series. On the one hand, it made me give up on true love (or, at least, one true love and only for a short time). On the other, it inspired gave me ideas for my stories (I call them Anti-Twilight Aspects). I hate Edward and Bella's selfish, annoying, and unthinking (although she does get better near the end of the third book), but I love Jacob.

I'm hoping that the fourth book ends with Edward having died a horrible (but fantastic, 'cause the worse it is the happier I'll be) death, Bella in pain because, not only can't she control her vampirism, but she's giving into her vampire side (oh, and she's still a virgin ), and Jacob a hero. He doesn't have to be a completely happy hero, because it might be cheesy, and he doesn't have to imprint on someone. He just has to be a hero or legend of some sort and clearly greater than Edward.

But that's just what I'm hoping. Sadly, because Stephenie Meyer is pro-vampires and anti-human, the fourth book will probably have some wedding drama, problems with the Volturi, and a vengeful, embittered, or rather absent Jacob. Then again, I think that her site says that part of Breaking Dawn will be from Jacob's point of view (I could be lying), so, maybe part of the book has Jacob looking for a way to keep Bella from marrying and being with Edward (and I would love him forevers and evers if he succeeded. ) If Jacob imprints on some girl and everyone is happy in the end, Meyers will have to do a lot of leg work to keep me from throwing the book across the room. At least, figuratively speaking, because throwing books hurts the sweet little things. However, if Jacob imprints on a vampiric Bella, like I thought might happen in the third book, I'll be happy.

I am sorry to say that the Twilight series is one of my least favorite series that I have ever read. I disliked the plot, the description was dull, and I found the MC quite annoying. Bella as a main character did little to inspire me as a person, I found her to be whiney and pathetic.

It's nice to be among fellow Twilight fans, well anyways I think that Bella and Edward will get married but Jacob might get in between everything because he really isn't going to be able to stand losing Bella. I hope this doesn't happen

Yeh, I loved these. Can't wait for the next one. There are so many powerful aspects to this series. Stephanie Meyers has the spectacular ability to take an old mold like Romeo and Juliet or so many other "star-crossed-lovers" tales, and turn it into something new and brilliant. There's a scene in No. 1 that totally reminds me of Chasing Cars (song, Snow Patrol). Glad there are Twilight fans here!

I read these books in January/February, and I'm obsessed with them. However, many aspects of the series bother and infuriate me. Especially Bella.

My issues with Bella:
My major issue with the series began in Twilight when Bella decided that she wanted to become a vampire so she could be with Edward forever. Be young and with Edward forever. Without giving it a second thought, and definitely not thinking of the consequences. I just don't like that she wants to die for him, basically commit suicide for him. She also didn't consider Edward's view on the matter, even after Carlisle told her that the (or one) reason Edward didn't want to turn Bella was because she might lose her soul.

In New Moon, Bella was just so dense. First, when Edward was acting strange and aloof, her worst case that the Cullens were moving and taking her with them, and then she believed that the reason Edward left was because he never loved her. She was also rather quick to judge the werewolves and Jacob. I wish she had let Edward go, let the pain touch her, and give in to Jacob. And she was so close to doing that! But then Alice shows up and she just blows Jacob off. Rrr. However, I did love how Stephenie Meyer portrayed Bella's depression with the four pages of only months and the 'Waking Up'.

As for Eclipse, the only stupid things that Bella did that I can remember is cutting herself during the last fight with Victoria and choosing Edward over Jacob. Oh, and standing by her desire to commit suicide to be with Edward forever, but she does come to understand the consequences of her choice a bit more and becomes a little less insecure and more mature.


My issues with Edward:
When I began reading the series, I loved Edward. Because Bella's narration focused on how beautiful and stunning Edward was and I could imagine him. Plus he smells good. I did understand him to be a danger, and would have been more cautious than Bella around him. I also would have fainted the first few times he kissed me. However, we eventually got passed his beauty and into his personality. The only ways I can think of to describe his personality is old/aged, overprotective, and nonexistent. Dull, I guess you could say. I loved how he was curled up in a ball for most of the time they were apart. And then, in the epilogue of New Moon, he wont even let Bella near Jacob, despite how close they are! That began my dislike for Edward. He became so overprotective of Bella that not only would he not tell her everything that was going on, but he wouldn't let her see her best friend (sure, deep down she actually loves Jacob, but still...)! By the time Edward had his family kidnap her to keep her from seeing Jacob, I loathed the vamp. I couldn't believe Bella forgave him so easily.

My other issues with the books:
How obsessed Bella and Edward are for each other pretty much sums it up. I hate that Bella feels that she has to die to be with him and how they can't live without each other. Halfway through Twilight I started to compare them with Buffy and Angel from Buffy the Vampire Slayer (Buffy slays vampires, Angel's a vampire with a soul, and they're soul mates). Buffy and Angel win, because not only do they have the strength to live without each other, but Buffy had to kill Angel to save the world and survived. They aren't the only anti-Bella/Edward couple I can pull from Buffy, but I guess Buffy and Angel are the best example.

I love Jacob. He has personality and understands Bella better than Edward. Personally, I think the imprinting thing is, for the most part, a convenient plot device to give Bella good reason not to be with Jacob and to make us feel better about Jacob getting his heart ripped out.

Has anyone heard about Rachelle Lefevre as Victoria? I've been hearing it alot recently and I just can't tell if it's true or not? I mean Rachelle Lefevre would be a great choice for the roll of Victoria and all, but I just want to verify if it's true or false.

Everyone is so like, they despise the dude who is going to be Edward. I guess when the readers visualize Edward they think of a freakin' god. As he is described countless times. But you know, in makeup, he's like, a lowly version of Edward.
But he could pass. Lowly, but passing.
Ellen page WOULD have made an excellent Bella! I mean, she's normal looking and an incredible actress. But the girl and boy they picked for Edward and Bella look like a fabulous couple. Bella is to model-ish looking, for my taste.

I read these books in less thn 5 days. It would have been a shorter time.. but stupid school and sleep got in the way. UGH.

Oooh, Ellen Page would have been an excellent Bella... *sigh* Why don't they ask US to cast these kinds of movies?

Well, I am pretty much in love with two of the greatest werewolves of all time: Jacob Black and Remus Lupin. And several characters from other books. But I know what you mean, few boys are ever going to read these so that's pretty much half the audience gone.

As to the movie, I'm not fussed about who they pick.

I used to like the series a bit, but after my sister said she liked it, I decided that reading them was enough. No praise, no nada. I just hate when people praise books like they do Twilight (best books ever written? yeah, I'll bet), because it ruins things. I'm unsure why, but it just does. Plus, it's not targeted to a broad enough audience to ever be bigger than Harry Potter (like my sis says), so that's out too. These books are okay, and Jacob Black makes Edward Cullen look like a wimpy portrait on the wall, no question.

I don't like Kristen Stewart at all either. My vote was in for Ellen Page, but no, they had to go and mess that up for me too! And don't even get me started on the rest of the casting...

Well, obviously the Twilight series is my favorite book series. xD -points to description- Edward is my favorite charracter, followed by Japer/Kerry and Alice. (Kerry is the Russian name for Jasper in the Twilight Series.)

They'll have to have one REALLY good make-up artist for Cedric becoming Edward, his face looks too hard, I know Edward's supposed to look solid, but his face~at least the picture they chose~looks like he's really annoyed. Edward's not supposed to look like that when he's not.

Kristen Stewart is Bella, and I think that was a good choice (although Emily Browning would have been better!). But I don't know. I"m having trouble w/ Cedric Diggory as Edward. Although, if they have a good Jacob I shall be satisfied.

lol. I loved these books! I'd be rooting for Jacob, if it wasn't for the fact Edward is a vampire and therefore trumps all Jacob's sweetness. I think I didn't like the third one as much though, it brought out the worst in Edward. =P

Oh my gosh!! I just finished this series!! I can't wait for the 4th book and the movie to come out!! Random Dance Time!! But, anyway, this series is 2nd on my series of books list!!! First is Jane Lindskold's Through Wolf's Eyes book, which I started to read after the Twilight book first introduced Jacob!! Were-wolves are the superior race!! Ok, I know most of you say Vampires!! All the way!! Vampires!! but, Were-wolves are great. I mean I want Jacob to win Bella!! Or w/e...but, I am not team Jacob!! I'm more of a Team Quil or Team Seth or Team Jasper...my three faves!! Kay, I'm so glad that I found a Twilight/New Moon/Eclipse/

I love the series. I don't want to love it, but I do. I don't like Bella at all, though. In the later books, she actually ASKS HIS PREMISSION to talk to Jacob. That really irritates me, but mostly because I don't like Edward and because I think that guys who control girls are absolute freaks. Jacob is the only one I like, because he is actually realistic. Love isn't this perfect, flawless thing that happens when you see a hot guy and he likes you back. It's scary, it's messy, and it certainly isn't easy. I'm glad that Eclipse showed another side to it, because I was beginning to doubt that Stephenie Meyer knew what love was really like.

I don't like Edward at all. When he left Bella in New Moon, even if it was to protect her, it was a jerky move. Then she found THE BEST MAN IN THE WHOLE ENTIRE WORLD WHO I WANT TO MARRY AND HAVE BABIES WITH (AKA Jacob Black) and she pushed him away for a jerk who left her and came back without any qualms. I'd certainly be mad at Edward, no matter how much I loved him or how perfect he was.

I don't know. Bella just seems very unrealistic.

StarryNight89, I totally agree with you on the points about Bella and Edward. Another thing that bothers me is that there never was really any sign of anything between them except a deep infatuation, they never seem to talk about anything that might show love, if that makes sense. And plus, I think their "love" would be so much more believeable if she didn't swoon whenever he came in because he is so good looking...

I know that a lot of adult readers, ie. parents, strongly disagree with the message these books give, not like "Agh, vampires, evil evil, bad influence" kind of message, but properly thought out arguments about why Bella is the worst sort of role model for the people our age that read these books. I know a girl who is obsessed with them and acts just like Bella around some boys, and cries over the slightest thing and talks about true love all the time... luckily I feel I have a strong enough will not to be lulled over by characters like these, but what if there are girls out there who have read these and now believe that:

1) they need a boyfriend to complete them
2) if a boy is good looking he must be good on the inside too
3) she needs a saviour
4) she must listen to everything her boyfriend tells her
5) It's alright to spend 4 months not speaking to anyone because of a breakup in a relationship that lasted around 6 months
6) it's alright to use your friends and people you know if you know they'll forgive you later (this isn't contrary to what I said earlier, the books give you the impression that using Jacob was right, from Twilight on)

And I can't think of any more. Look, I know that heroes in books are rarely good role models, but the problem I have with this one is I've actually seen someone begin to act like this after reading these books.

Personally, I dislike the series as a whole except for Twilight. New Moon just went on and one about Bella's hole in her heart..it was so melodramatic and the way she uses Jacob was sort of pathetic. I understand that she was hurt by Edward's departure but I just skimmed through the parts she ranted about the pain while she slept...I had no sympathy for the girl. Also, Bella seems to be to snobby around her other school friends (Jessica, Mike) as if she's better than them. I know that in Midnight Sun, Edward can read Jessica's thoughts and she hates Bella...but that's not the point.

The point is the series could've been readable if it wasn't for Bella's self-indulgent tendencies. Honestly, stepping back and looking at the big picture, Bella's just sad because she doesn't get to see her perfect boyfriend. And they weren't even together for that long...*sigh*

Edward sort of bothers me as well, whenever he's with Bella he wants to be her savior which is tolerable. Honestly, the girl can walk without your help, she's not that dumb. Ok, she's a klutz but that' s overdone as well.

And when you analyze why Edward and Bella like each other, it's quite superficial:

1) Edward can't read Bella's mind so he's intrigued rather than attracted in the beginning.
2) Bella loves the fact that Edward looks like a Greek God.

And after only dating for a few months, they start talking about how they love each other dearly...and I should add that Bella doesn't even sound like a normal 17 year old girl. She sounds much, much older.

Twilight was interesting and fresh, New Moon was unbearable and I can't say anything about Eclipse because I can't get through New Moon yet.

Well, as you nice Edward people (who, no offence, tend to be the more aggressive of the two groups) didn't eat me, I won't snap at you.

I don't like Bella as a character, she doesn't have any backbone, and I don't like her for the reasons I explained above (I like to read about the suffragettes)... but I'm sure I'd like you. I'm a klutz too...

I have incredibly mixed feelings about these books...

I read the first one and reasonably enjoyed it.

I read the second one because I was bored one day.

I read the third one because I refused to abandon Jacob Black to his fate.

Bella really bugs me. She just really annoys me. Women did not throw themselves in front of racehorses so that future generations would melt whenever their boyfriend came into the room. I can't be the only one who wants to give her a kick up the a*se and tell her to get some backbone.

Edward: look, even if you're a vampire, you can't be this perfect.

What annoys me the most about these two is they're your flawless heroes. So they may have flaws (ie. not being able to do maths) but they're too perfect. They always put others first. They love each other. They're selfless. Tell me when you meet someone like this.

That's why I like Jacob. He can be selfish. He can be cowardly. He's not afraid of upsetting people.

And I like Alice. She's awesome.

I LOVE THE TWILIGHT SERIES!!!!! I agree with the die-hard Twilight/New Moon/Eclipse fans. I have read the series over and over again, and they get funnier every time because then you realize the inside jokes.

Edward fans: Edward rocks my heart. It may seem like he's perfect, but if you look deep into his character, he's not.

Jacob fans: I ABSOLUTELY LOVE JACOB! Jacob is kind, sweet, caring, strong, and immature (translation: tons of fun), which makes him even more appealing. Jacob's right when he said, "And girls are cruel."

Both: Its really hard to choose between Jacob and Edward since they both have their perfection and their flaws. Well since Edward is taken, I'll go with Jacob instead.

Bella (and why I love the series so much): When you really love the series and look deep into Bella's personality, you're seeing me. I can completely relate to her and she helps me believe that there really is something called a soul mate. It affects me when people trash her because I have a strong connection with the character. It was obvious that Bella was going to choose Edward, so I don't know why Jacob pushed so hard on her.

In conclusion, TWILIGHT ROCKS!

"Cold and Broken": The point of Bella is that she could be any of us. She's the kind of person who would read this kind of book.

I liked Twilight. There wasn't any mo'f'in plot, but still. As for New Moon... I HATED the werewolves thing. There are vampires. OK. There are supposed to be vampires. There were always supposed to be vampires, and you can tell. There weren't always supposed to be werewolves, and it's painfully obvious. The thing about vampires is, that while they are fantastic (in the fantasy sense), they didn't come out of left field. Purist that I am, I of course didn't read the back of the book before I read it, but what was going on was pretty obvious. The only foreshadowing for the werewolves was completely accidental. They just didn't belong.

And Eclipse. There really wasn't any plot for this, at all, though it did lead to the fascinating contradiction where it was a page-turner but for parts of it I was bored out of my mind. And as for the whole storytelling thing with the spirit chiefs... yeah. I got somebody to summarize it. I couldn't make myself read it.

Don't get me wrong, though, I love the series (and Stephenie Meyer. She's awesome.); I just have some built up resentment against it. Little bit.

Yes, this was quite a good book, but the lack of figurative speech was [for me] a major drawback. She could have made it spectacular with a little more description, but it's really a matter of personal preference. I love description, and I know that some people...don't.

Its a really good book! Its kinda cliched but I still really like it. Not much description mostly dialogue and thoughts.

Personally, I thought these books were wonderfull. Although, my mother is more obsessed with them than I am... ^^ Stephenie Meyer must have done her homework, since the 'vampire myth' in these books were similar to some other versions of the myth that I've found. And, of course, she has added soem creativity to the myth -for instance, I found it very clever to make the vampires sparkle in sunlight

I found these books very well written, yet easy to read (Which is why I recommended them to my friend since she doesn't do well with a lot of big words) Although, I kept getting the chills at almost every page since Bella could very well be my twin sister. The similarities are a bit scary -like, we're both shy, kind of quiet, don't like to get into trouble, and don't have that many extremely close friends. And, I believe there was some part in the books (#1, or 2, maybe) when she's daydreaming about what it would've been like if she -had- stayed at the airport and met with Edward again. I do that all the time. And there's how her mom wanted her to move to Jacksonville, FL, and her mom's like "It's always sunny, and the humidity not -that- bad." My mom said the same exact thing when we moved there. The humidity really -is- that bad, believe me. Oh, yah, and we're both sort of boring and well, dull. ^^

But, they were awsome books, and I'm really glad I read them.

And now that I think of it...S.M did spend alot of time on Edward and Jacob. Jasper, though, I'm not so sure. I actually think that she worked at Bella's character subtly; never giving an infodump, just little bits of history and facts at random intervals. For some people that could be hard to notice. but...I noticed...

Sometimes I wish she would just summon up the courage and smack one of them or something, or just do something more outgoing than her usual, ordinary activities. Also, I hate the part in Eclipse where she seduces Edward- a bit of me wanted him to go along with it (but I didn't want to read that!) but most of me was just like: What the hell?! What's wrong with you Bella?!

I love Jacob, and Edward, and Jasper....You have to love all those guys don't you? Stephenie Meyer spent a lot of time developing those characters, and not enough time on Bella. Or so the sponsor of my book club says. But thats the point of Bella isn't it? The whole concept? Two amazingly wonderful guys falling for one very ordinary girl.

At first I was like 'Wow, Edward sounds real neat.' But as the series progressed I began to think things like, 'No one can be that perfect. It just doesn't happen and- I hate how he's always so cold and controlled.'
Jacob, on the other hand, is a very believable character. He loses his head, he does some stupid thing, but so what? f Edward would just get off his high horse for a second, he might do things like that too. Also, I've always liked Werewolves more than Vampires. The vamps. are always so seductive and frozen, while I always think that wolves are raw and beautiful and full of emotion and burning pride. Much more interesting...
So yeah, basically, I really wish Bella would just choose Jacob.
Then maybe she would become a werewolf! *is excited* I wonder what she would look like...?

I don't think Edward is perfect, however I do think it seems that way to the readers who are of course reading it from Bella's perspective and of course Bella sees Edward as perfect.

Don't get me wrong, Edward is a gentleman and he is very mature, but I think that's justified considering he is a 100+ year old vampire AND has the power to read minds. I also think it's sad though on Edward's part, for all his siblings to have their significant others and Edward to be the loner of the family. That's why Midnight Sun will prove interesting to me, I think Edward's perspective will be refreshing and we can take an interesting view of the story.

To me, Alice is my favorite character. I am okay with Jacob, I think Jacob and Bella is far more interesting than Edward and Bella, but I do want to see Bella turn into a vampire so that's why I'm all for the ship.

You know, I never saw what the big freakin' deal was about this whole series. They're the classic angsty romance, weak-heroine-gets-her-chestnuts-pulled-out-of-the-fire-a-thousand-times-by-annoying-males-who-send-her-into-spinning-depressions-because-they-are-just-so-darn-perfect kind of books. Who really needs that? Aren't there enough weak females in books? Why are the guys always the competent ones?

Give me a headstrong girl who's not afraid to kick a guy's butt no matter how hot he is any day of the week. (Believe it or not, there are books like that. Like Sammy Keyes! Woo!)

And who didn't see the lame-o proposal of Edward McVamperson to Bella the Weakling coming to tie things up? It's so... nicely plotted and convenient. So cute, so sweet, so sickeningly happy-ending.

ohh goodness I can't agree more. I have a guy friend that did that to his best friend, she was dating this way cool guy, and then he just pops up and says that he likes her. And then he got all mad when she didn't dump the other guy, and then their friendship just kinda went a part. But I have to agree Edward is seriously the perfect guy ever.

I love the whole concept of two amazing guys falling for one ordinary girl. We determined she was ordinary at book club today, we also determined that I'm Bella at heart, which is backwards because my best friend's name is Bella and my name is Alice.

My three random thoughts about the series, now the not so random one I love these books!

Hmm, I don't know why I read the whole series exactly. I don't really like it. It's just so...bland. I like romances (when I read them) where the characters meet, become friends, and fall in love, and even though each of them has flaws they seem perfect to each other. With Bella and Edward it's just touch-and-go, almost literally. Even Romeo and Juliet's love was more plausible because neither of them were perfect. Romeo had tendancies to neglect thinking things through (like how he simply climbed into the Capulet's courtyard) and Juliet spent a whole seliloque thinking about what would happen if the plan went wrong (if she woke up in the tomb and Romeo wasn't there, if the potion killed her, etc.). Edward is "perfect," and to me that makes him unintersting.

The end of Eclipse is quite depressing isn't it?

I love the whole concept of two amazing guys falling for one ordinary girl. We determined she was ordinary at book club today, we also determined that I'm Bella at heart, which is backwards because my best friend's name is Bella and my name is Alice.

My three random thoughts about the series, now the not so random one I love these books!

Although I have to say Meyer gives the goods, I wouldn't go so far to add that these books are the best. They're...the pop revelation of the year, and if not the half-decade. Bella's not the greatest heroine ever. If anything, she's more like the Forksians than she realizes.

Jacob is, by far, the most credible character in the book (not that credibility is something you should look for in this particular series), and the most likable. I am sufficiently more drawn to him than the stiff Edward (can't he ever loosen up for once? act like an annoying person?), who obviously is meant to be perfect, but there's two things that happen with perfect: it bores you, or it gets on your nerves. Bella wuoldn't have given Edward ANYTHING if he wasn't so beautiful. Personally, SM seems to holds a bias against ordinary people, and I think she has this fantasy that all beautiful people are fascinating. Sure, it's nice to hang around beautiful people and everything, but I think she's sending a message that looks are a (no, the) key point in a relationship.

I'm also not looking forward to the movie. Look at Anne Rice: marvelous author, dreadful movies.

Anyway, most of the time it's easy to get over Bella and her obvious easiness (she's the girl who could get robbed if a guy is hot enough) and concentrate on how well Meyer writes. That's her problem, though: she's made everyone so perfect we realize how utterly IMperfect Bella is.

Maybe I'm just turned off by the series now because my sister's nuts about it. I always tend to dump things once my sister starts to like it (thank GOD she didn't like Judd Apatow's movies OR Avenue Q!), not that I was ever that crazy about the series to begin with. If anything, I only read it to catch up on the newest literary trend. I was more satisfied this summer when I read Harry Potter (Twilight can never be the next Harry Potter--too pointed toward the female sex).

I love it, but I can still see the patches that keep it firmly on 'teenage fad' and not 'epic romance'.

Ekhm. Just wanted to say that I agree about adoring the first ad being dissapointed afterwards. However, I recently tried reading it again (the first book) and have to say with shame that it was okay, only okay, and that excluding the parts with Edward. Oh, but yes, you should see Paulina's (the friend's) reaction to the Edwardless Book Two.

Oh, and the third book. The epilogue. It creeped me out, because I didn't really notice the 'Jacob' tag, and thought it was (at the very begining) from Bella's POV, after she changed into a vamp. Unsettling, really, the dreams, I mean. But what I wanted to say is that I don't know form where the epilogue from Black's POV came from. No, really, it's nice and all, but...

I adored the first book, but I was sort of disappointed by the second and third. I found the first book to be refreshing and delicious, and I'll willingly admit that I love Edward. I really enjoyed the way Meyer dealt with the whole idea of vampires. Plus, the chase at the end was awesome. I guess the second book was ok, but it didn't enchant me like the first one (I blame the lack of Edward ). The third = GAH. Bella was one of the weakest, greediest, most stubborn and ungrateful protagonists I've ever had to endure reading a whole book about. Not to mention how mopey she is. If and when she becomes a vampire, I shudder to think what aspects of her personality will get amplified. Maybe she'll be able to drown an entire city using only her tear ducts. ^_~

Oh, and I wanted to add that teh snippet from Edward's POV (when he left Bella), was horrible. Truly made me wonder if that's how it looks before it goes to the editors...

I read all three, and even though I can't quite say that I loved them, I'm dying to read the continuation.

It was a friend who pulled me in, borrowing me a translatin of "Twilight". I got hooked, ordered the second book, borrowed it to the friend, becuase its translation wasn't out, and then waited, waited, and waited with the friend for the third. Which sucked, because when the third came out, so did the second, (Polish translation). Good thing she was good at English, or she would have killed me because I would have read it and not she. xD

I admit that I had a thing for Edward. *Blushes* He's still cute, but way to perfect. So is Bella, even though she goes on and on about how imperfect she is to Edward. *Sighs* Seriously, they were great book that really drew me in, and if only the main cast wasn't that perfect, the book would be perfect, too. As it was, I split up with Edward (lol) cause he was so perfect, and got angry with Bella because of her no-personality policy when she's around Edward. I mean, she could have screamed at him the tiniest bit at the end of Book Two (no spoilers, yes?). But, no. No, oh no, never. Only in "Eclipse" did she get some backbone, so woots for that.

It also would have been cool if there had been more about the lesser characters. I mean, in "Eclipse" for obvious reasons (to those who read it!) it OK. Jasper, and go, Rosalie. But before that, they weren;t much. Just names. Also, there could have been more about Alice - Alice was awesome.

I read the first chapter in the store of Twilight and the first chapter of New Moon on her website. I'm probably going to read it soon (it's checked out in my library currently) for extra credit. The extra credit assignment is to check out the book from the library, read it, and take a test from the librarian. So it's pretty popular at the moment.

These are absolutely the best books ever! I love them! I got addicted after the first line in Twilight!

Gulp. Werewolves and vampires and fiends, oh my! Is it a horror series?

Twilight: Excellent Book! Excellent, excellent, excellent. The characterization is amazing: Bella is the fair maiden, our Juliet of the story, and the enchanting Edward is our Romeo. The romance they share is a special one, starting out as a love-hate relationship and gradually changing into a more mature love. I see Bella as being every bit as mysterious as Edward even though she is our main character, and I tell you, that takes skill.

New Moon: Horrible Book! Horrible, horrible, horrible! It was not worthy to be my birthday present. First of all, that mature love that we all loved changed into a childish, lovesick, cleche, fairy tale. The storyline was totally unorginal and not unique whatsoever. Characters were all wrong. Bella sunk into an unneccesary "emo" depression which greatly burdened the book and Edward was nonexistent. Jacob was cool, I liked him right up until his werewolf status became known, to which I merely scoffed and had to force myself to finish the book. And then all these silly things, like cliff diving and motorcycles - where did all that come from? I see no symbolism, no stylistic devices, no foreshadowing, no metaphors - I found it all rather simple and elementary.

In addition to this, if you are going to use Romeo and Juliet as a comparison to Edward and Bella, then do not bring Parish into the scene and make it a love triangle - stick to the script. The whole thing between Jacob and Edward is just...wow. And that was the bad wow, not the good wow.

Eclipse: I refuse, to read it.

I am beginning to think that Twilight was a stroke of luck, though for that amazing story she must have some buried writing skills.

If The Twilight series is a young adult book, then it must be a very very very very very young adult book.

I am going to read Midnight Sun (a retelling of Twilight from Edward's point of view) and if that book is good, I may give the series another chance.

Bottom Line:

Twilight = Yay
New Moon and Eclipse = Nay!

P.S. Alice is the best character. Ever.

SPLEE!!! Sorry, I got excited when I saw this, and that was my happy shout. Anywho, BellaLuna! You have my name...well, part of it. And, I love this series...Sorry, I should probably be a bit more...organized. (yeah, right).

I have to agree with BellaLuna~~Jacob is so annoying, it isn't even funny, yet Bella puts up with him for some reason. It makes me ill because Edward is so...so...amazing; he has his flaws, but they are few and far between. And he is SO sweet; Jacob's just...yuck. The ending of Eclipse was very confusing; I really prefered it from Bella's point of view, because I was so used to her voice.

I LOVE this series. AH! It's so wonderful...there just aren't words to describe how amazing this series is. Twilight is my favorite book in the series, with Eclipse coming in second, and New Moon finishing in third. I am a devoted Edward/Bella shipper with a strong dislike for Jacob. I like the best-friend relationship between Jacob and Bella, but their "romantic" relationship makes me ill. Jacob can be so infuriating; I honestly don't know why Bella would even bother with him when she has Edward worshipping the ground she walks on.
Anyway, enough of my anti-Jacob ranting. I cannot wait for Breaking Dawn to be released! I'm really hoping that Bella narrates the whole thing. I absolutely loathed the switch to Jacob's point of view. It was too...abrupt. One minute I'm reading from Bella's point of view and then all of a sudden it switches to a completely and totally opposite perspective: a boy's perspective, a werewolf's perspective. It was confusing...and upsetting. I wanted to hear more from Bella, so I frantically skimmed through the whole epilogue, hoping it would switch back. No such luck. I was very disappointed. I'd rather the books just finish out in Bella's perspective; it is her story after all.

Yeah, that was the Epilogue. Jacob won't be telling the story I don't think. I'm pretty sure Stephenie debunked that. That Epilogue was just to make us feel sorry for Jacob I believe. It did the trick though.

I absolutely love the books by Stephenie Meyer! I just don't think I would be able to choose between Jacob or Edward. I mean both are incredibly amazing in their own way! Anyway, I can not wait until the new book appears on the shelves. In the preview at the end of the book Eclipse, it reveals that it is indeed Jacob telling the story. I think it'll be a tad bit awkward. But I'll still voluntarily read the book anyway

YUP!!! i'm excited...i was completely depressed at the end of Eclipse, but i'm still looking forward to the next one. i hope the whole thing with Jacob is resolved somehow.
