I really like the Rangers Apprentice series by John Flannagan. In the first few books its about a boy name Will who is apprentice to Halt, one of the kingdoms greatest rangers. Rangers are experts of silence, stealth, and using weapons of bows and arrows and stuff like that. I know I didn't do the best job of explaining it, but its really a great series.
I really liked a book called "Midnight Magic" By Avi; it's a bit of a fantasy set in Medieval Italy which i found interesting as most authors tend to write about Medieval England which becomes a bit boring after a while. The Maximum Ride series by James Patterson is a great series of sci-fi adventures, also the Mortal Instruments and Infernal Devices series are great modern fantasy series. I didn't pick em up at first because I though they were forbidden romances like Twilight, but they're actually quite different. "I, Coriander" by *i forgot who* is a good book set in the 19th century, a fantasy too. The Harry Potter books I liked as well, and the Inkheart trilogy.

Medieval fantasy? Erm, can't help you there ...
Have you read the Deltora Quest series, by Emily Rodda? There are three of them, great big books. They're fantasy, in a fantasy world, and there are riddles and everything, and a sense of danger and you-can't-trust-anyone. I really like them; you might too, it's worth a try.
The Inkheart trilogy? I know I really enjoyed all three books. Some people say they're hard to get into, because Cornelia Funke sidetracks a bit, but I don't know about that.
The Bartimaeus trilogy, by Jonathan Stroud, is a very good read. Witty, funny and sweet at times, but never soppy.
Artemis Fowl? I know it's sci-fi, but I very much like these books (by Eoin Colfer, in case you didn't know).
