No Enlightened Poet am I Proclaimed

No enlightened poet am I proclaimed,
Rhyming high-flown philosophies in poesy,

(Instead, I only scratch out my words
In verses of winds and the scents of spring--

Of the shades of the light crowning wintertime clouds,
Sing the grace of the wings in a homecoming sky.)

For I am no more a poet than you,
And you, with your verses, no more than I.

(And so I write of the white blush of moon
Not referencing love, neither lost nor found

And rhyme the rhythm of the lapping sea
With the throb of the heart in the desert heat.)

For what more, oh poets, are poems than beauty?

(Write: The ethereal river spills sheens iridescent
Beneath the expanse of the heavenly lights)

And what more than beauty is life?

(Breathing perfumes and sparkles of nectars and grass
Spelling effervescence within the infinite hues.)

I'm going to have to agree with Tedus about this poem; it was very good. What caught me about this poem was the subject, the idea. I like that underlying sense of humblity that is presented in this poem. It kind of says "Yeah, I'm a good poet, but I don't claim to be better than the next." I especially love the figurative language presented here. None of it seemed like it was overused to me. No cliches or anything. I truly applaud the writer who makes up his/her own images instead of taking others.

This is a very good piece of work. I like the archaic tone you've got going on here. The blank verse helps, the lack of cesura and general flow of the poem is brilliant.

I particularly like your imagery - comparing rhyme and rhythm to the sea was absolutely brilliant - I get hints of nostalgia, hints of humility and hints of a "claim of excellence" type thing.

I really have nothing to say about grammar or anything negative in general. Nope nothing.

I envy your poetry skills.
