She is ten, oblivious of the affliction her society is putting her into. But is ecstatic because she’s hemmed in hues of red and this is what she had been playing with her mates: wedding of the guddi (doll). What a prick this innocence is, walking into the labyrinth heartening happiness. This is the tragedy of every victim of child marriage, a black hole of our society. Each year 15 million girls are married before eighteen which means that every minute, 28 girls are married off.
On 11th March, 2014, Maulana Mohammad Sherani; chairman CII declared that girls below puberty can be married and that all international conventions restricting child marriage are un-Islamic. Maulana was totally heedless that his declaration wrote child marriage in the fates of numerous innocuous girls in Pakistan’s rural areas. He has ruthlessly exploited the Islamic feelings of people living in rural areas who are unaware of the religion’s fundamentals and who blindly believe these extremist Islamists. The ratio of child marriage has increased since then.
Child abuse is a ruthless act to conduct on naive girls. It exhausts them emotionally and embeds a devastating effect on their pubescent minds. It endangers their personal development and wellbeing. Moreover, child brides are disempowered and being immature, often face domestic violence. This act also imposes serious health complications in their lives. On the other hand, it deprives a society of successful, educated women.
Child marriages not only violate human rights but also hinder the accomplishment of Millennium Development Goals (MDGs). The government of Pakistan should enforce strict laws prohibiting child marriages and should initiate awareness programs in rural areas. Ad-hoc committees should be formulated to help the victims. Lastly, education for women should be highly promoted because Pakistan needs successful women not brides!

Hey, your topic is a good one and you have done quite well. My suggestion is that you could have gone a little more deeper into the problem and its causes. It is not just in any one particular community child marriage takes place but in various countries and cultures. You could have added few solutions to child marriages. I feel discussing more on how this practice affects other spheres of life is also good. On the whole it was good and to the point. Good Luck!
Well, hello, Nire here to say something about your wonderful piece. You've chosen a very nice and strong concept and that's applaudable. I liked your writing command too. Even with a short article, you've said kind of enough.
Now, child marriage, yes, I know, it really is awful. And mostly in the south Asian countries, this is one of the burning problems. Though it's better now than it was 10/15 years ago, but it still is a social disease.
This statistics, my friend, is it of around the world or Asian countries or of any specific country? It'd be better to have that mentioned. ( Oh, pardon me, I see you've said it's global. But, please update your work to avoid confusion.)
Now the maulana guy, he really stinks. I mean, how on earth he can say something like that.. I guess it's high time we came outta the circle of those cheap minded idiots. And, for that we need education and social awareness. So, very good work overall. I like the title of this article. Well, it could have looked much better if you could capitalize the word "b" in "bride". Not anything super important but well, it is an improvement.
Are you sure 15 million girls are married below 18? I am seriously doubt that. If I look at the population of the country Pakistan, I see there are roughly 31 million girl below 15 and 20 million girls who are under the 15-24 age category. It is highly unlikely that EVERY kid in Pakistan gets married below 18...
Secondly, that "Maulana" guy should be hanged. I mean, how on earth does he call himself a Muslim if he thinks kids can get married before puberty. As far as I am aware, Muslims can't get married like that.
What I think is that we should, rather than fighting these people, educate those people who are following these type of "Maulana" guys.

Your comment about how Muslims can't get married like that is wrong. There isn't a rule in they're religion to that effect, although I agree there should be. Living in India, I know that child marriage is prevalent in several of the backward villages and places here. I am among those who would like to see it stopped immediately.
