The boat speed on across the black water. Jade looked across the horizon for some sign of land. At last she spotted it, small black bump just barley in sight. She too a step forward to get a better look. The man at the wheel tried to put his arm around her; she shrugged it off and took a step back.
“How much longer.” She was beginning to become impatient.
“Not far, but aren’t you excited even a little bit?” he gave her a look that belonged on a puppies face, not his.
“No, like I said before, I dread it.” Jade headed to the back of the boat and sat down. As soon as he had turned away she buried her face in her hands and began to silently cry.
The eland came into full view. It was breath taking, the night sky shining with millions of start the white sand more beautiful than ever. She could not help but pull in a breath of surprise, the man looked back at her and smiled; she frowned.
“Beautiful isn’t it?” he asked
“I have to admit, it is quite nice; no thanks to you.” The bite in her voice had subsided. She was no longer angry but sad. They reached the dock and the man stepped out. He offered his hand to Jade but she pushed it away and made a jump for it. He caught her in his arms and lifted her up.
“Put me down before I have to hurt you.” She said it through gritted teeth and if any man had heard it he would have dropped her, this one however gave her a skeptical look and held her tighter.
“I really am not that bad.” He put honey into his voice that would have made her swoon if she had been standing up. She quickly shook the feeling off.
“Well you still haven’t told me your name. Also you wont put me down.” She tried to push her self away but just succeeded in him kissing her forehead.
“I could guess it to be safe to tell you now, you may call me Damond.”
“And you can put me down.” She was tried of playing this game.
“no.” he smiled, “you might trip.” She looked away and decided to ignore him. He went on to explain how they wouldn’t be on this island long just long enough to get supplies. Soon the y entered a clearing g that held a small village.
Out side were about sixty people and as soon as they cleared the trees they started to celebrate. She couldn’t understand them so she looked quizzically at Damond.
“They are shouting ‘hooray the king has returned with his queen.’” He smiled at her. She was getting quiet frustrated with that smile. She turned away and ignored him. He took her to a tent and set her down. She then punched him as hard as she could in the stomach.
“Ooof, what was that for?” his voice came out strained.
“I warned you, you have more coming.” She raised her hand to go for another, but he caught it in mid air.
“Now, now, we had an agreement, shall I repeat it or do you want to?”
“We both know it.” She folded her arms and looked away.
“I shall repeat it anyway.” He led her into the tent and started to speak. “The agreement was that if you came and lived with me for a year, then I would leave all your family alone. It also said that you were not to try to escape or leave, you were to meet me when the lights went on exactly five minutes earlier than the day we met, if you were late, the consequences would be put into play.” He finished by thrusting his arm towered the bed.
“It also said that if you hurt anyone of my family, I would leave and never return, the next time I would see you I would be a free woman, and you would not be able to touch my family again or your consequences would be put into play.” She sat on the bed. When she had first met Damond She had thought he was a vampire. He would follow her from day to day and one day he came to her house when she was all alone and told her what he was.
“You are too come with me.” He had said
“Get out of my house you creep!” she had said tiring to shove him out. He had then grabbed her sand kissed her.
“You see I am more than you think I am. I am a…”
“Creep, now get out!” He then looked her straight in the eye.
“Listen to me or your family will be dead by morning.” She had shut up right away then. “I am a, well you might call it a vampire but the real term is a marauder. WE suck the blood of most things but can easily refrain from it. We don’t need a blood supply to keep us moving, it is more like candy. See we also bond with someone, and it is you I love.” They had then come up with the agreement.
He excited the tent and left her by her self. She through herself on the bed and cried. She finally fell asleep.
