Very good poem! I enjoyed these stanzas in particular:
I wonder if she's listening
to me talking when I call.
She's worried if she's losing
either me or her mind or it all.
She's wandered in her mind's abyss
always trying to push me away.
But I wouldn't go, I couldn't leave
I had promised her I'd stay.
So I waited by the phone for
the call that never came.
She denied the imperfection
persistant in keeping things the same.
She worshipped the idea of taming
the things you can't control.
We wrestled with the truth
that this thing just can't be normal.
As you can see, I liked all of the stanzas! Thanks for putting this up on YWS so we all can read and enjoy this wonderful poem!
Interesting read! What I really found you could do was keep me guessing the entire way through the poem and keep me thinking about it afterward. It is complex but simple and you effectively show how to execute a intricate poem with a handful or more of stanzas. Beautiful in all ways!
Fantastic poem something I really relate to personally. I really like the tone of this just because it's a good way of how you executed it. Sorry if that sentence doesn't reallymake any sense.
Wow. I love this poem.
"She denied the imperfection
persistant in keeping things the same"
I'm not sure these lines have the same metre as the rest of the poem. If you could figure out how to cut one syllable out of the second line, I think it would help the poem a lot. Metre's always difficult.
You do a good job in being consistent with your punctuation and capitalization.
Great, great poem! You definitely have a gift for telling a story through a poem.
I'm not sure if the title or the last stanza fits with the majority of the poem; if the theme is supposed to be about normality, you don't really mention it at all until the end.
Hope this review helps!
