We met while I was tripping on shrooms and he was sober. I know it’s not good to meet people while on drugs. It feels right with him though. He could’ve taken advantage of me, but didn’t.
Kris gets worried about him being a bad influence, about rushing into shit with him. But we’re not. I know I don’t love him. I don’t need him. I would be tripping without him regardless. But I do see myself with him for a long time.
******************
Kris was saying the other day, how drugs make you ugly when you do them. That it’s irresponsible, to get my shit together…
I didn’t even know what to say to her. Ever since Brandon’s entered her life it’s hard to recognize her. We used to always be on the same level about things, a lot of things. But no, now she’s wasting time over stupid shit. Filling up whatever’s supposedly missing with unimportant material things.
I wanted to say something. Bring her back. Shrooms don’t make you stupid. It makes you think differently. Shrooms that contain psilocybin are actually less toxic than aspirin. They’re unaddictive. Taking a low dose will make colors more vibrant, nature will evolve into a different kind of beautiful, music will sound great, and being around people will actually feel good. Taking a medium dose will trigger visuals and invoke philosophical thought. Taking a high dose will cause objects to take on living characteristics… walls breathe, cause more intense visuals, cause a deeper understanding of things, cause a feeling of one with the universe.
But I was quiet.
I wish I was good at explaining things, and that I could just share it with her. My last trip; time slowed down and stayed the same all at once. I could see matter warping around me, fusing into each other, and I reached a peak where I was just so aware. The floors were blue and I was fading into them. That’s when it got scary. It would happen sometimes, and my cigar burns on my arms would just flame up. I would hear the yelling, lamps knocking over, the sound of green glass shattering on the wall. Just there, swimming with my demons. I was afraid but I knew it meant something; I knew it was speaking to me, telling me to let go.
******************
It can be the stupidest small arguments with Kris that make me feel like I’m falling behind. Sometimes she becomes so much like our mother, and I can’t stand that. She’s my last piece of family, my cornerstone. But when this happens, it just triggers night terrors, leaves me drifting in blue with my demons. I can’t drown them; they know how to swim and keep coming afloat.
******************
After the argument, it was a few days until he came koncking at my doorstep. I didn’t even want to answer, but my dog, Curly, kept jumping at the door and it made me tumble out of bed. Not many things get to me, but he knows little quarrels with Kris will, because she’s my last cornerstone until I’m left to fall into the memories, swimming with my demons.
He took my hand, and I knew everything was going to be alright, even though I knew what was coming. He told me I need to stop leaning on the cornerstone, and let go. I did, and then all we saw was blue. But I wasn’t afraid this time.

I simply love this story. I only have one peice of negitive feed back. Personaly, i think the way the ages were just thrown into paragraph 3 sounded a bit off. However, thats just my opnion. I love the explinations on everything. My favorite is the way you eneded it and in the seccond to last paragraph when you said "swimming with my demonds". The endig, It sounded good and wasn't a cliff hanger, which i personally like. Keep it up, I'll definatly read more of your stuff(:
This is a sad inspirational story about releasing the addiction on drugs. The way you described the efeect of the drugs and the way things changed when they were taken was exquisite. It made the drugs sound amazing, inspireing and eye-openeing. You have successfully managed to capture the thoughts and reasoning of someone who was suffering from such an addiction, and shows people that they think it is good, an amazing sensation that really changes you.
The story also shows how people can leave you, or become different themselves when they belive that you are being foolish and and that you should quit something you love, something you need. It shows the pain they go through, the desperation and the fact that they are still people. The end part was by far my favourite. the main character loosing the need for the drugs, no longer needing to rely upon them, and finding someone to help them along the way.
I really enjoyed this and have no negative feedback. Continue writing and good luck!
