The Perfect Getaway

It's been six months since it came
The days are slower than they've ever been
Do you know how sick I've been feelin'
All my life's efforts in vain

Oh how I long
For a sunny day
And how I belong
Somewhere nice, real far away
A perfect getaway

I'm writing a book about me
and I've placed it on my desk
I'll finish it shortly
just as soon as I get some rest
I hope you know I wrote several pages
describing the agony that I feel
After you left I realized that nothing changes
and the more time I sit here
the less time it takes for me to heal

Oh how I long
for a sunny day
And how I belong
Somewhere nice, real far away
A perfect getaway
The perfect getaway

Screaming voices flourish through the acoustics of these rooms
Alone, left out on my own
Left in a pitiful gloom
A hatred for you I've grown
The further I think of you
The sicker I become
The further I blame you too
The more things I shun

I long
For a sunny day
I belong
Somewhere nice, real far away
A perfect getaway
The perfect getaway

Oh how I long
To be strong
To belong
Somewhere nice, real far away
A perfect
A perfect getaway
The perfect
The perfect getaway

The \"it\" is referring to the break up, thanks for the reply.

Ok, first I think something went wrong with your formatting. Unless you meant for

It\'s been six months since it came
to be like that? It looks odd and it distracted me from the rest of the poem. I like the rest of the song though. It's nice and simple. I do wonder what "it" was though. I get the feeling the song is about a breakup, but the "it came" in the first line makes me think that it is something more. What melody did you set this to? I keep hearing the melody for a "Pocket Full of Sunshine" when I read the chorus. I liked it! Keep writing! :D

It suddenly struck me that that tiny pea, pretty and blue, was the Earth. I put up my thumb and shut one eye, and my thumb blotted out the planet Earth. I didn't feel like a giant. I felt very, very small.
