Introduction

Two sixteen year old girls, Nina and Addison, were driving to a party, excited to have all the fun that a teenager could have, until…

Until their car crashed, leading them to a mansion, to a vampire who ripped them apart.

And now, Nina hopes to find a way for them to leave, wishing that they made it to the party.

Chapter One

Nina opened her eyes as she pushed open the closet door. She “slept” in the basement closet, where she felt like she was the safest. She could not sleep because she was dead, but she did it anyway to feel more alive.

Addison was upstairs, trying to get “Bethel” to like her. That was his name. She said that he just had a “messed up thought of love” and that “it wasn’t his fault”.

All Nina remembered was him breaking them both apart with relish in his eyes, as if he was eating a buffet.

And he was, in a way.

Chapter Two

He had laid them both on the table and tore them apart-tore them for “experiments”. But what experiment was there except drinking their blood? What…

The sunlight came in slightly shattered pieces, shining on her hands. Her hands that looked translucent, her bones that looked blue…

Blue bones? Bones? Nina didn’t think that she still had bones.

Chapter Three

Nina stuck a finger into her own skin, digging deep until she could she could see her skin pierce off, her blue bones shine with green.

She looked down at her legs, her legs that seemed all twisted and tangled, her feet at odd, opposing angles.

She felt her mouth open, she heard her jaw bones crunching.

Chapter Four

The ceiling, with its bare, bony wood slabs staring down at her, seemed to slide above her in a blurry haze. There were cobweb-covered webs on the light bulbs behind the bars and in a blurry haze, Nina heard a voice-Bethel’s-say:

“Where do you think YOU’RE going?”

She could feel him pulling her by her ankles, but she also felt-no, it couldn’t be-but underneath her torso, she felt…five…six…seven? It didn’t matter.

Nina felt more than two legs being dragged limply underneath her-no, attached to her-maybe if she lifted her head up just a little, if she took one peek-

HER BODY?!

Chapter Five

She looked down at her body and found that were not two, but five legs underneath her torso, the extra three dragging limply underneath her. Bethel slammed her onto the white table, the effect only mildly hurting Nina.

“You wouldn’t have anywhere good to go if you got out. You shouldn’t be trying to leave.” Bethel’s voice said, clearer for her to hear.

Nina could also hear him rummaging through equipment, the silvery tools tinkling like wind chimes and she wondered why he was telling her that, why he was talking about anything good being out there.

As if he actually cared.

Chapter Six

She felt his tools dig deep into her flesh, pulling her apart, changing her into something-no, just breaking her more. Clink clink they went.

There was something in Bethel’s deep red eyes, a kind of grim sadness, as he went along with his work. He looked like the teachers Nina had, the ones who regretted their jobs.

But it wasn’t like it was her fault that he was miserable. If that was even true. She didn’t know, but he looked upset and like he wanted to make everyone else upset. And more importantly…

“Where is Addison?”

Chapter Seven

“Addison? She’s upstairs. She hasn’t left.”

Nina knew that Addison was upstairs, but she wanted to know where in the mansion Addison was. Bethel wasn’t giving her clear answers and-

She jumped up from the table, crawling on the ground with her hands and many legs. He would never tell her the full truth, so she had to find out herself.

Chapter Eight

“Where do you think you’re go-“

Nina felt one of her legs stretch out and punch Bethel, pushing him away. She did not expect it to happen and was a little surprised, but she crawled up anyway, not stopping.

The door was only a few feet away from her.

Chapter Nine

Nina pushed open the door and crawled out, calling out Addison’s name-why was the light so bright? Was that really what the sun looked like?-and hoping that Addison would hear her, would find her before Bethel did.

The floor was greasy, leaving slick, clear liquid on her clawed hands. She tried to stand up, but her hip bones felt like they were grinding against each other, so she went back to crawling.

Nina could hear Bethel coming up the stairs.

Chapter Ten

“Addison! Addison! Ad-Addison?!”

Nina stopped. Sitting on a set of stairs that led into an upper part of the mansion they were in, was Addison. She did not have extra legs like Nina, but her intestines were spilling out of her like pudding and speaking of which-she was holding a plastic bowl of chocolate pudding, eating it with cracked, dry lips.

“Bethel gave it to me.” Addison beamed.

Her smile was full of yellow, cracked teeth. Blood was spilling out of her gums and yet, she was eating chocolate pudding.

Chapter Eleven

“He’s not as bad as he seems, Nina. Just talk to him. It’s what he wants. To talk to people. To love. To-“

“I don’t care! He still hurt us! He still did-why are you eating that?! How do you know it’s not poisoned?!”

Addison shrugged, then said:

“I don’t. But it wouldn’t matter. We’re both dead anyway.”

Chapter Twelve

“I don’t know if we are dead. We can still feel things. Bethel still did…he still did what he did.” Nina said.

Nina didn’t like to think about it or talk about it, but she couldn’t just forget it. The night sky was dark. There were no stars. No moon. No other cars. She and Addison didn’t know the person’s party they were going to, but Nina knew where to drive.

She was driving and driving and then the car lost gas and then-

“Nina, come here.”

Chapter Thirteen

Bethel snarled the words in a tone as carnivorous as his fangs, but Nina didn’t feel fear.

No, she felt a biting, vicious anger coursing throughout her bones. How could he say that to her? Why wasn’t Addison doing anything? Why-

“Now.”

Chapter Fourteen

The smoke rose from their car. The tree in front of them had peeling bark like skin pulled back from eczema, vulnerable and vicious. Nina’s head felt like it was vibrating and in the distance, she heard ringing.

Her heart raced as she tried to find the cat door. Where was it? Wasn’t it right next to her?

She tried grasping where she imagined the door was, but got nothing. Her hand only clasped air.

Where was Addison…Addison…

Nina rose up from the ground, determined to stand up straight.

Chapter Fifteen

It wasn’t easy, trying to stand on her many, wobbling legs. But she stared at his red eyes, the red eyes that stared back at her and Addison as he tore them both apart, as he changed them, the unblinking eyes-

As Nina jumped towards Bethel, Bethel did the same. Distantly, Nina heard Addison scream her name, but she didn’t pay much attention to it.

What much would Addison know?

Chapter Sixteen

When Nina clung onto Bethel, she made sure to dig her fingers deep into his flesh, to make bleeding holes that stained her fingers. Bethel’s eyes went wide and then-

She felt his fangs biting into her wrist, clinging onto her like a parasite and-no, not like a parasite, he was a parasite-but if he was biting her, then that meant-

“We’re not dead. What are we?”

Chapter Seventeen

Nina kicked Bethel away from her wrist, mildly shocked that she was strong enough to kick him to the wall, but glad that he fell down.

In her mind, she saw a teen boy, with black hair just like Bethel’s, but brown eyes and peach skin, being held down by an older woman who stuck a medical needle straight into his neck that-

“Is it so wrong of me to want company?”

Chapter Eighteen

Nina watched as Bethel stood up from the ground, his lips quirked into a smile, but his eyes wild and pleading, like he wanted her desperately to listen to him.

“It’s not my fault my Mom wanted me to be a vampire, so why should it be a problem that I make the both of you monsters? There’s no where else for you to go. Just stay here, with me. I just want friends.”

Friends? Is that what he called them? Friends.

Chapter Nineteen

“Do you really think that I care that your Mom did what she did?! You didn’t have to take us! You didn’t…we were going to a party and then you just…you just made us into monsters. You know how much that hurts!” Nina screamed.

She hated that her voice was breaking and she hated that she was even talking to Bethel at all, but it was just ridiculous that he thought it was a good idea to hurt them, to take them against their will, when…when he was changed without a say.

“I don’t think he meant to hurt us. I think he-“

“Addison. I got it.” Bethel said, rising up from the ground, his eyes clear with…with resolve?

Chapter Twenty

“No, I didn’t mean to hurt you. But I wanted to keep you. Do you understand how much pain I went through after my Mom turned me? What, so she could a “pure, sickless son”? I’m a monster. But I don’t want to be a monster alone.” Bethel said.

He stood in front of her, his eyes glazed in tears. His voice cracked like he was sad, but one word stuck to Nina.

He called himself a “monster” and yet he was completely fine with turning Nina and Addison into monsters. He knew that what his Mom did was wrong, but he didn’t stop to think twice about what he did.

She leaped onto him and tore him as best as she could, for she would not let him stall her any longer.

Epilogue

Nina did not just kill Bethel. She had pounced on Addison and killed her too, then, Nina tore herself apart. Because what was the point of living if they were monsters who could never show their faces to their families again?

At first, Addison hated her. She thought that Nina was “taking away her boyfriend” or something like that. Which was weird, because wouldn’t that cake have killed her?

But then, Addison began to forgive her over time and they both followed the light to the garden of Heaven.

Nina didn’t understand Addison’s apparent love for Bethel. She didn’t need to.

She saved her.

Morning~
I was thinking about what to read today and this story fit in perfectly~

I also appreciate the clearcut introduction that doesn’t mince words XD
Curious to see how two ppl who were ripped apart and presumably turned into vampires are gonna escape—or rather in what state they are gonna leave this mansion.

…oh never mind they are ghosts now (*goes to check their gacha designs* Ahh Nina looks so intrepid and ik ik Addison is a perfectly fine name but I always think this has to be a guy. And Bethel looks way too adorable for who is XD) (btw I think you can link directly to the relevant forum post, not just the page they exist on)

“All Nina remembered was him breaking them both apart with relish in his eyes, as if he was eating a buffet.” Good sentence and good reason for never engaging with him again!

*reads abt the body horror* … Aww ☹ And I guess it would be difficult to show THAT in gacha designs ☹

“You wouldn’t have anywhere good to go if you got out. You shouldn’t be trying to leave.“ Oh I was afraid of that when I read the intro paragraph. The state the girls are in and how that would probably prevent them from going back to the life they used to know…

Hmm I wish you would have made it more clear why Nina needs to know “where” specifically Addison is? Especially since… yes the sight is gruesome but Addison seems okay-ish? ^^°

This feels more like Nina having a bad dream rather than remembering a real event: “She and Addison didn’t know the person’s party they were going to, but Nina knew where to drive.“ If you bring this up here, maybe explain why they went to a party of someone they both didn’t know too? Because the way this is written might as well been what Nina dreamt last night, to make her stay here even more nightmarish.

Tho I do appreciate how you juxtapose what is happening NOW with what is happening in the italics! That they kinda mirror each other in feelings and actions~

I mean I absolutely understand Bethel’s desperation… but Vampire’s are like… the least disfigured of all the monsters, he could have just become that nocturnal weirdo friend you have that everyone still kinda likes. Instead… he does this.

I wish you would have explained or better explained why Nina killed Bethel AND Addison and yet, Addison still lives and goes on at first hating her but then forgiving her? And that was before they went to Heaven soo… just a mention what good it did to kill her when they kinda were dead already. I’m… a bit los here.

Hi, I really enjoyed this story. The description was amazing- and kinda creepy, which I guess was the point :)

I was a little confused about the short chapters at first, but now I think it actually made the story better. I also really enjoyed the plot, especially Bethel's story, and the (kinda) twist ending.

My only critique: Maybe either remove or change the introduction, because I personally feel like it removed a lot of potential suspense from the story by saying straight out what happened to Nina and Addison.

Other than that, it was a really great story, and you did deal with suspense really well the rest of the time.
