We went to Poland when summer came
We went to Poland by train
because she was afraid of planes
and I said that I was too
but that was a lie
I just couldn't stand
watching her cry
2.
I've got autumn leaves
inside my head
and spiders and snakes
inside my bed
3.
Purple
This is how I want to be
in the morning
with my cigarette
when no one else
is watching me

Hello, happy review day!

These poems were short... But interesting! I can see what you were trying to get at when writing these but the descriptions are quite vague... Overall they are quick to read which means the reader can spend more time thinking about them and looking back than reading them. However, These are three different poems from what I see, so I am going to review them separately. You know what! I'm going to review them backwards as I am in that kind of mood today
3. Purple
I had to read this one about three times, it is quite confusing. I then proceed to realise that you are saying that you can be anyone you want and no one can say otherwise! You are alone so you want to be different for once, this is shown through the idea that you want to be purple. There is no one around you to judge, so be purple... YAY! (That was probably the weirdest interpretation ever hahaha) My only major nitpick is that you need to fix punctuation.
Try setting it out like this:
Purple,
this is how I want to be,
in the morning
with my cigarette
when no one else
is watching me.
By adding a full stop, the poem comes to a neater finish:D
2.
This, I find, is the most confusing. Again, please think about punctuation. Perhaps this poem is talking about the freedom that the speaker begs for inside his head, thus explaining the autumn leaves. Freedom is pictured as beautiful and so are the leaves in autumn. By describing spiders and snakes inside your bed, the reader starts to picture the idea of the restriction of freedom biting at his pleads and injecting him with poisonous sorrow.
Actually... Now I think about it with that meaning, it does not seem nearly as confusing!

In this poem, I picture two lovers. The speaker's heart flies over the hills for this girl, so he would do anything for her-no matter what. This is shown by the idea of him carefully choosing the travel arrangements for her. My only major nitpick(other than punctuation!) is that that you repeat the word poland. If you just use it once, the poem would flow a little better.
Overall, after some careful reviewing, I can now see that all the poems link together. They all talk about the state of mind an the decisions we make as people. Beautiful!
That's all from me,
Godly
Hello, darling. Here to review, of course.
My first major nitpick with these poems is that you've posted them together, so I expect them to have some sort of true cohesion running throughout them. Instead, we get this swirl of vague imagery and modernesque diction that honestly does nothing for me as a whole. They're not bad separately, but together, there's hardly any sense to it and it honestly comes off as a half-attempted effort at being edgy and cool with your poetry.
The first poem looks interesting at first sight, but it has nearly no meaning whatsoever. Yes, it's something that happens, and yes, it does have some real life significance, but there's nothing behind the words or the poems, they're just... there. It honestly feels like the words are dead on the page and I have no clue what to do with the emotions that it gives me. Work on defining what you're trying to give your audience in terms of a reaction to the piece on that one.
The second one has an altogether different problem. While the first and third might fit together cohesively in some kind of way if it was just them together, with the same ideas and diction behind them, the second one is nearly pure description that fits only very vaguely into the diction you've set for the piece and it has more emotion, but even less definition, behind it. It could also fit if it was just the second and third -- but with all three, no matter what, you've got something sticking out like a sore thumb.
The third one itself just seems even more half-attempted than the other two. It sounds cool. It sounds like there's a cool image waiting behind the words. But the reader isn't seeing it, and that's the problem. In order to convey your emotions and images that you want to convey, you have to give the reader the images that will put them on the page and make them interact with the words. As it is, the closest we get to a description of the emotion is "purple", which makes some sense, but honestly if I were to interrogate this text with any sort of analytical eye, "purple" is associated with regality and power -- which makes no sense for someone to want to feel when no one is watching them.
They're interesting. But amp up your game. Keep writing!
Thank you for your words! It's interesting how everyone I ask about the three poems (but over all the first one) says that they either love it a lot or don't feel like there's anything behind the lines. There seems to be nothing in between. However, I'll think about everything you talked about.
I love the first one so much. I think it's the one I could relate to the best but its so short and simple but with so much depth! I also liked it a lot, because I want to visit Poland, so I like that that was the destination you chose
Also, I like the love you described between these two people. It was so short but sweet. It's obvious the narrator cares deeply about the woman and I think you conveyed that message very simply but very effectively.

The second poem I didn't quite understand. Autumn leaves are supposed to be beautiful but the snakes and spiders in your bed..Does that mean that even though the actual world is ugly and scary you choose to keep it beautiful in your head? I'm not sure, just my interpretation of it.
And I LOVED the last one. I think it was so brilliantly written. I pictured it as a lonely man, who's smoking his cigarette waiting to die, and the purple is the smokey haze around him. Again, this is just my interpretation of it, nonethless I think you left a lot to the imagination (clearly mine, lol) but it was wonderfully written
Thank you so much! You really got the first and the third one, and probably also the second one - this is a question of different interpretations. I like yours, even if mine's different. The autumn leaves and how they're flying in the cold wind were meant to symbolize something mazy, melancholic, (but maybe also beautiful), so the person probably feels lost, or confused, or nostalgic, there it's not that clear. The reader should just suspect that the person doesn't have happy giggling pink glistening thoughts inside his or her mind, and then while reading the last two lines this feel of "something really isn't okay" should grow stronger. But, however, I like your point of view too
I really like these 3 poems, and the first two I really did understand and love how it was short and sweet. The last one I had a little trouble deciphering. I didn't really understand what you meant by wanting to be purple, but that one was the only thing I didn't understand! I loved how I had to figure the first two out! Thanks for the great write!
Hello, thank you! The third one was meant to leave a lot of space for different interpretations, and I think everyone may imagine the situation for themselves. For me the person in the poem is someone who's always chitchatting and laughing and playing the clown for people, but the truth is he or she deeply wishes to be a quiet and profound smoker with a purple aura.
Ohh that makes more sense!
That was short, but I really liked it. Short and sweet, and nothing I can fix, thanks for sharing this with me, it really was something beautiful.
Thank you a lot!
