Somewhere

Somewhere I remember
My very distant home.
It has been there forever
It's beauty still it shows.

The water lapping to it,
Cold fresh and salty taste,
Contains fish of every species
That swim in shoals and race.

The gorgeous thing about it
is it's miles of tropic beach.
The sand as fine as sugar
Caress your tired feet.

Most islands are in silence
Where no cars or engines sound.
Only the song of a bird,
Or insect you have found.

The perfect flowers grow
Every colour, shape and size
Scatter the islands with love.
The Scilly Isles light up your eyes.

Wow and I don't say that alot.
For one the poem is just beautifully written. Its so vivd and descriptive that I felt like I was there when I was reading it. Also the topic is a really good one to write about because in stead of doing some other random poem you have so much insperation just imagining these places themseleves.
I must say I also like how it is constucted. I like it because its a free verse poem or at least I asume it is that also has rhyming in it.
And the patterns are cool to the poem goes:
abcd
abbb
abcd
abcb
abcb
I like it like this because you normaly see aabb's aaaa's abcd's and abab"s this is diferent because it is a mixture of a bunch of things
All in all i thought the poem was fantastic and can't wait to read more
P.S. I'm subscribing

Never forget how special this site is: the older I get, the more I realize how many lonely writers there are who have only family and maybe some friends to read their works. The fact we get free critique, nightly writing pads, free contests and unlimited interaction at *no cost* with people genuinely wanting to help, can not be overstated or overrated
