Lazy Sunday

by bubblewrapped

My first post in AGES! I've been internet-deprived because we were selling our house and I had to stay offline so people could call...It's been TORTURE!!!! Anyway, here's something that just spontaneously occurred to me. I'm not even supposed to be online now but y'know, parents arent home so I snuck on for 10 mins to post.

LAZY SUNDAY

lazy Sunday drips towards the afternoon
and everything is grey, like
dreams have turned to mist (the way
they sometimes do) and I feel
cat-dog lazy-hearth rug-ish
breathing in a toxic lethargy
that saps my will to move.

this is a kind of day that
gives me headaches, makes me
long to slide into blue silence
and fade away from the lackluster sky;
the kind of day when snails move fast
and the world is lounging, indolent
in close humidity.
it is the kind of day that speaks of
molasses inching slowly
round the clock of time
as one season gives way to another
and the weather changes.

but most of all this is a lazy Sunday
a feet-up, head-back, rest-and-relaxation day
when nothing ever happens
and no-one thinks it should.

i like.

it sums up my sundays entirely. that act of doing nothing and the feeling that it's ok. the first verse i wasn't in love with the poem, i think the third to last line ruined it for me but the second two verses i loved.

another poem i wish i'd written.

great job. It all 'spills' together in keeping with the slow, sluggish tone throughout the poem. :)

I liked it seriously!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 8) I swear most peoples don't believe me when I say that. But I do like it. It's much better than any of my poems.
