Your comment was posted, but it wasn’t long enough to count as a review. Reviews need about four complete sentences (at least 250 characters). Try writing another review that explains your thoughts in more detail — the author will appreciate it, and you’ll earn points for it.
Hello Hello I hope you dont mind me popping in with a quick review. I apologize for this being a bit short. However, I hope my thoughts will make your day a bit better nonetheless. I think we both have had enough rambling and I should get started. Let's get into it, shall we?
Overall I enjoyed reading this piece, it serves as a good introduction to you as a writer. The imagery of the storm is both a great nod towards brainstorming and pins down what creative block is like vividly. The voice allows the pacing not to drag while also painting the picture of sluggish creativity as time passes too quickly. Much like how in the summer just before a storm it can be very muggy and heavy.
Now Normally here is where I would put feedback but I couldn't find much to say honestly. I didn't find it super choppy, the only thing I could think to bring up has less to do with the poem and more to do with reviewing. It would be nice to have a comment that's just the plain text of the poem to make quotes easier.
Regardless I found this a very good read and I look forward to seeing what else you post. Welcome to Yws if you need anything don't be afraid to ask . I hope creativity finds you, keep writing and remember to drink water!
Hi! AnotherCrowInRow (aka Kay, since the username is too long) is here with a quick review and feedback!
I personally found two interpretations of your poem (maybe I'm completely off: remember, this is just what I took from the poem and everyone can find something different in it - that's what's great about poetry). Upon first reading it, I understood it simply as a poem describing the formation of a storm, but once one looks at it from a more "metaphorical" perspective, this work can easily speak to the creative process.
Yeah, that sounds pretty lot like creative block - it feels long and like nothing was happening. And as the poem continue, the brainstorm slowly starts and becomes bigger.
Okay, enough of me talking about interpretation - let's get to the poem itself! I found the pacing a bit...choppy. It's not such a problem - it seriously happens with free verse. Your language is very flowery and rich with a variety of words. So overall, great job - keep it up!
Have a nice rest of day/night/whatever!
hi, thanks for reading and giving feedback! good to know that choppy pacing is somewhat normal - i'll see if i can improve it somehow.
