Thousand Versions of Me

There are a thousand versions of me

Each one's different, which one do you see?

The writer, the violist, the nerd, the freak

the rebel, the reader, the bitch, the geek

Quiet, polite, with a smile so charming

Utterly random to the point of alarming

the dancer, the shy girl, the one with the book

I'm bossy, I'm sad, a grammar Nazi, a cook

A memory chip to hold a grudge

stubborn, arms crossed, refusing to budge

A sweet girly girl wearing only sundresses

full of teen angst, with aqua dyed tresses

A tomboy up to elbows in mud pies

an emotional wreck who often cries

not always brave, witty or cool

sometimes a smart ass, sometimes a fool

There are thousands of mes that roam the halls

Which one answers, it depends on who calls

So yes, there are a thousand different versions of me

but the question is, which one do you see?

I was drawn into this by the title, and i can honestly say i was not disappointed! I wish i could write like this, you're really talented :)

I love how at the end the first two stanzas you have a list, almost like you're confessing your weaknesses, and i just love it. The rhythm is perfect, the wording is immaculate, even the rhyme scheme works, and it all just makes this poem great.

The only thing i could pick up in the entire poem, and that's in the last stanza, first line, "thousands of mes" should be me's or just me.

All in all, an amazingly beautifully written and heartfelt poem, i can tell a lot of effort went into this. I hope to read more of your work, keep it up!

Hi! YAY, YOU JOINED! Sorry, I'm not going to write a review because I can't poetry. But there are two things I'd like to comment on:

For two minor swears, I don't think you need to rate it 16+. 12+ is something along the lines of what you wrote, 16+ is one or two large swears or a lot of minor swearing, and 18+ is that song by CeeLo (or however you spell it) Green. The uncensored version of Forget You.

Also, was the description a Doctor Who reference? ;)

Okay, thank you for clarifying!
The description was not written as a Doctor Who reference, but looking at it, it does seem that way. I guess my Whovian subconscious refuses t ]o be silent. :)

bluedragon,

I absolutely adore this poem. At first I thought, this is totally cliché, and then I think, but it that what you (as the narrator of the poem) want me to think? Which is the exact point of the poem! It's catchy and quick, and (even if you won't admit it) witty and cool :-). I think many people will be able to relate to this just based on what most teenagers experience in school cliques. I love how true everything is: the title is also just amazing. "A thousand versions of me". It exactly describes the way that people personalize themselves to what other people want to see. No nitpicks, no criticism. I absolutely loved it.

Thanks for sharing this wonderful poem :D,

Savvy
