Please note that I am the WORST poet EVER.
Please rip this piece to shreds, because I really want to improve my poetic skills,
I know it's really unprofessional, I just wrote it on the spot (no pun intended)
so yes, please be harsh ![]()
O' fountain of youth,
You bless us in so many ways,
Apart from one,
Our troublesome skin,
UGH, WHY?
Sucking out our confidence,
A parasite,
A barnacle,
A leech,
We all suffer, we do
From the eruption of puss,
And scarlet skin,
Upon our chins,
Our foreheads,
Our noses,
Paranoia overwhelms us,
EVERYONE. IS .STARING .AT. ME.
Plagues of you,
Epidemics of you,
Infestation!
Chaos on my face,
Of course, we are vain,
Why do we care?
Why is it such a dilemma?
You will clear,
You always do,
But please,
Hasten!

Now if this is about teen acne I'm totally offended.
But otherwise from a rate from 1-5 (5 being best) I give this a 3 and 1/2.
But be confident and try to improve the best you can and never ever ever say it sucks.
No, it's not a terrible poem. Always be confident in your work. It think it is quite creative.
Wrote it on the spot - haha, I like.

Presentation:
To make your work look prettier, keep authors notes in brackets, and all in one pargraph at the top. Then use some kind of marker to separate it from the actual poem. It'll look better if you keep the font the same.
Structure:
You need stanzas, all poems, except those minature ones, need Stanzas. They make it look better and also make it easier to read. When you have a lot of choppy lines, stanzas help to group them together so they make a little more sense.
Letters and Font:
In very casual poems capital letters can have an effect, but it's a very amature technique, the kind average highschoolers use. If you want to develop you skills as a poet you should abandon these kinds of techniques. An easy way to do it is check out how published poets emphesise particular lines or phrases, and copy them.
The idea:
I like it. It's gross, and there are lines (which I probably don't need to quote) that are too graphic, but when reading a poem like this it's expected. There seems to be a stereotype that poetry needs to be smooth and pretty, but this is a perfect example of poetry that isn't exactly pleasant, but still effective.
In general:
I think to improve your poetic skills overall, you just need to experiment more to find your 'zone.' Find some poets you like, work out what you like about them, and copy what they do.
Also, as a general rule I don't post anything until I've read it a week after writing. That way you can look at it from a fresh perspective. On the spot writing tends to be very unrefined, and like with stories most of writing is re-writing.
Hope this helps
I am not trying to joke.. but this is a serious question.. are you talking about teenage acne?
I had a hard time understanding this poem, it may have been your intent, but this poem is extremely choppy. I don't understand much about this poem except that it's criticizing....something.....??
