PR: The Conjurer Wars - Ch 2 part 2

“Weird bulbs…” He muttered. I nodded, reaching for the Advil stash in my bag. The screech of the intercom made me press my hands against the sides of my face. What’s so important? I thought irritably, dry swallowing two Advils.

“Attention students,” This is bad – I could already tell. “Sterling Heights High school is currently under lockdown.” Everyone stopped breathing for a moment. “Surveillance on the school’s cameras show unauthorized persons entering the building with weapons and firearms.” Panicked whispered whirled around the room; fear spread like wildfire. I concentrated on putting the baking soda and leaf into a small test tube. I didn’t want to worry about the threat; I wanted to calculate the exact volume of water that needed to be dropped into the test tube. “All doors to classrooms, bathrooms, supply rooms, and doors leading outside of the school are to be closed and remained locked until further notice.”

My blood ran cold. Cambridge wasn’t one to play practical jokes. She was serious, and that alone was enough for the hair on my arm to stand. Direct the light onto the leaf. The lunatics will not come in here. Focus on photosynthesis. There are a few things that can keep me sane when I’m about to freak. Science – specifically Biology – is one of them.

“The gates to the school will be closed and locked as well until I’m informed by authorities to do otherwise. Just be calm and thank you for your cooperation.” I let out a breath when the intercom clicked off. Mrs. Arwine trotted over to the door and locked it. “Just in case.” I heard her mutter under her breath.

A loud pop – the glass breaking – sounded from the door Mrs. Arwine was locking. She fell back clutching her head, crimson peaking through her pale fingers. I stiffened up as I saw the broad spectrum and my eyes started to act up again. I blinked and clutched my head as another headache took hold of my brain. Groaning in pain, I kept my eyes shut as I lowered my head onto my hand, blocking out the noise and panic of the class.

After what seemed like forever, my headache died down, and all I could hear was the ringing in my own ears due to the silence. I opened my eyes again, my hands holding up my forehead, my breathing labored. The table was curious looking People think of color as its own thing, its own shade, but it’s not. It’s really a combination of the seven main spectrums – red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, and purple – which can reduce down to the three primary spectrums – red, green, and blue. Red being the broadest of the spectrums; the hardest for me to control. Once my breathing became normal, I concentrated on the black table, my eyes still in its state of light hyper-sensitivity. The color black, or at least in light terms, was only made possible due to its lack of spectrum, lack of light given off. There was more sciency stuff to it, I’m sure, but I could never find one solid answer.

Admidst my thinking, it took me a moment to realize that the room was silent. Completely silent. I heard another loud pop and shattering sounds. The lights turned off as I felt glass shards fall from the ceiling onto me. I screamed in surprise and soon blacked out from the sudden lack of light. The last thing I remembered was the sound of thumping feet against the cold, lifeless, marble-tiled floor.

This story is really interesting. I like your style. The only thing I would recommend you is to rewrite some long sentences, because they are really difficult to read. Waiting for next part. :)
