The Dogs' Demise

They are driving to the vet to put Brownie to sleep.
I didn't want to go because I'm afraid I might weep.
This dog has been with me since the very start.
No person, no animal, has a bigger heart.
No memory, no reminice, is complete without him.
Because he, for me, would go out on a limb.
Pablo and him were like a set, a pair.
You know, this life is anything but fair.
I sit here on my couch with tears streaming down my face.
This wasn't the right time or place.
My life will be so bland without that little dog,
My life will be nothing but a complete bog.
The excitement, the laughter, will seem to exist.
Everytime I laugh his death will come at me, like a fist.
I can cry, I can weep, like never before.
But this hurt will not go, though my tears are sore.
I will seem happy, for that's how I mask my fear.
And soon this whole Brownie thing will all disappear.
Again one day I will sit on my couch.
That day I will remember Brownie, and Pablo perhaps.
And their life plans, their horrible maps.
I will remember them living, and avoid their demise.
But in the end I will think of their death, and tears will well up in my eyes.
I started out with a pack of four: Lola, Kuma, Brownie, and Pablo.
They're names they just come, they flow.
Palina went to college and Lola faded away,
And I cant even see her when "Lola!" I say.
Pablo died from Leptospirosis, a horrid disease.
And every day I ask Pablo to come back, "please?"
Brownie is on his way to his death, his passing, his going away,
And that, is it, and all, I have to say.
Kuma is here to comfort me.
Don't you see? He will go someday too!
And then I will cry, "I love you!"
I hear them returning now, coming back from the vet.
Goodbye my wonderful, loving, great pet.

This was a very heart felt poem. I loved it because I share similar memories. My cat had to be put down. She was 18 years old. I loved her so much and it was hard to be there at the vets watching them stick that needle in their leg and seeing them slowly grow unresponsive. This poem described that pain perfectly. I do believe that you could separate the two lines that rhyme and turn them in to couplets. It would make the poem flow a lot better. This was such a good poem that showed the sadness of having a choice. To end your pets life out of sympathy or just to let them die naturally. It's a hard choice. Let your heart be your judge.

Good job!
