One year later;

How is this story written by a 13 year old?

It was a cold, dark night as I was staring curiously outside my window, noticing how beautifully the moonlight hit the panels on the roof, even though the frost on the window was making it most difficult to see clearly. Feeling both mentally and physically hurt, I decided to change from my dramatically distressed state to a more calm and reposed. I climbed into bed and pressed my head of curls down against my pillow. At times like this, nobody ever wanted the cooler side. My body had heated up the sheets in no time. I felt like it didn't matter where I was, my mind would always be where he was, and this was a problem. The countless days I had stayed awake hadn't brought me any realisation, I didn't have an epiphany or anything like that. All it had done was make me feel insomniac, which for a fact, I wasn't. My mind was just occupied with unimportant things. And people. I began to wonder who he would be thinking about right now. I then took a short glance at the the porcelain clock which hung on the wall before me and realised that no one would be awake at this hour. No one but me. With the final bats of my medium lengthed lashes, I drifted off into a deep sleep.

A sudden wave of hysteric laughter crashed over me as I hid behind my tearsoaked hands. The familiar faces with glaring eyes and botox sized grins planted on their faces were all laughing their ear-clogging laughs in rhythm. I tried to search for whoever was leading this rampage only to find the two hands of Ejay Cruz locked onto my diary, eyes filled with satisfaction and amusment. He continuously repeated the words 'Annabella Cruz ' in a tone of sarcasm and disbelief. His hair, coloured a dirty blonde, looked more beautiful than the first time I'd ever seen him. He was like a little piece of heaven I could call my own. I opened my bleary eyes and re-entered the real world, escaping my nightmare. I was severely relieved that I was lost away in my dreams, completely irresponsible for my thoughts, unable to choose which direction to steer them in. I was powerless. Preparing for school might keep me distracted for a short period of time. On the scheduel for today - English, Maths, Biology and History. My stomach fluttered at the thought of Biology. Taking classes about biodiversities with Ejay kept me sane. His smile makes my heart melt, like the sun does snow. "So much for keeping me distracted" I thought as I was pacing myself down the hallway of my house. The little framed mirror was slightly tilted to the side, I straightened it up and suddenly saw my distasterous appearance with a now dropped jaw. I was ready for halloween. Hairspray in hand, I headed straight for my bedroom. A few sprays on each side of my head did the trick, I had to look inviting for Biology today, even though Ejay refuses to look in my direction.

Ever since he found out, I've been shut out of his life, he won't look at me, he won't talk to me. He may be slightly snobby and egotistic, but atleast he'd grasped a breif understanding of how truly amazing he was, he deserved to. Time had come for me to leave home and go to school; I must admit, I wasn't too eager, It's always been a bit uneasy seeing Ejay now that he was in on the secret. My tendancy to over-talk and giggle made everyone aware how I felt as I'm not one to loll in my chair and sulk. The day went by fairly quick and time had came for Biology. I made my way to the science block, finding it slightly difficult to walk with the intensity of my butterflies building up with every step closer to the class. My heart rate at this point was infinite as I'd just spotted him, books clutched under his arm waiting for our teacher to arrive. "Okay class, open up to section three, page ninety six of your text books - Animal mating and reproduction" ordered our teacher, Mr. Thomas, "Ejay, could you read?" He nodded and began to read. "Unlike us humans, animals don't have to be in love to be willing to mate and reproduce, where as us humans prefer to be in love. The.." "Ejay, give us a definition of love" Mr. Thomas cut in and requested. "Love. Affection shared between two people who feel the same about each other. Chemicals are released from the brain when in love, such as Endorphins." Ejay said, in his lovely, bold voice. It was like the sensation of waking up from a good dream, where you don’t yet know if it was real or not. "Well said, Ejay." I raised my hand to begin debate. "Yes Annabella?" "Sir, I believe Ejays definition is incorrect." I said, "Love is not only a feeling shared between TWO people, it can be felt alone, someone can love one who will not love them back" I added. "Blame the chemicals". Every stared at me, aware of the situation, with shocked expressions on their faces. "Okay 'bells, let's not make this an episode of Days of Our Lives" the teacher said. As the lesson continued, I felt Ejays eyes glued to me, from the corner of my eye. I think he understood what my little speech earlier was about and I now felt pathetic. Must I make myself stand out? I sighed and continued drawing broken love hearts in my notepad whilst every minute felt like an hour. Finally, the bell rang and I was released from that miserably awkward enviroment. Most nights, before I went to sleep, I wondered if he'd ever dreamt about me, considered he plays the main lead in my dreams. In my dreams, he was my savior, my knight in shining armour. Even in reality, he's my everything while I'm nothing to him.

Biology lesson after biology lesson, things remained the same until I decided to confront him. Over IM, of course. I couldn't confront him in person without breaking

down. He was online and I started a conversation.

Annabella says:

Um.. Hi! Do you know who this is?!

Ejay says:

Yes. What are you doing?

Annabella says:

Wow! You're talking to me? I kinda suspected you hated me or something.

Ejay says:

I don't hate you, I just don't want to date you.

Annabella says:

I never asked you out and I'm not exactly planning to.

Ejay says:

Okay, well I'm going to go.

Annabella says:

Wait, are we friends or not?

Ejay says:

I don't know, probably not. Cya!

Ejay signed off.

The words "I don't know, probably not" repeated over and over in my head, I felt the tears feeling ever so heavy dripping down my face and I felt my heart shatter into a million pieces and scatter all over the floor as if it was unrepairable.

From that day on, I was experiencing such depression, it was almost laughable.

The following Thursday, I was still as upset as the past. With my head rested on the cold, wooden table top and my hair spread perfectly over my shoulders, Theo, Ejay's best-friend came and kept me company by trying to get out the details of why I was so upset, I wouldn't confess, though he was confident that he would get it

out of me. He didn't get very lucky. Nobody really understood what was wrong, some heard breif details and put them comparison to their own little dramas, but this was beyond little. To me, anyway.

The sun rose and set for 389 days straight until I realised that there was no point, that nothing was happening, ever. I realised I wasn't holding on to anything, there was never any hope, never any dreams. It was just a pointless, stupid, one year, crush. Though, this experience has taught me many things, being a teenager isn't just hormones, puberty and acne, being a teenager will bring you heart-break, happiness, happy and unhappy endings.

The end.

Hi! I'm A. C. Denny and I read your first post this morning. I thought it was a good peek inside a typical young 13-year-old teenage girl's life. This would relate to a lot of 13 year old readers who love High School drama. I especially enjoyed the part where they were studying about animal reproduction.

There was a few run-on sentences that were marked with comma’s instead of periods. Here's just one example:
"With my head rested on the cold, wooden table top and my hair spread perfectly over my shoulders, Theo, Ejay's best-friend came and kept me company by trying to get out the details of why I was so upset, I wouldn't confess, though he was confident that he would get it out of me."
This kind of rambles on a little bit. I would probably put a period between upset and I.

Other than that, I liked it. Keep that writing going!
