Kissing in Camden
They say the first kiss is magical--
Intoxicating even.
Well, I guess they'd be right.
I was drunk.
He was there, whispering sweet
Silly things, and I wanted to know
How his lips would taste.
Bittersweet
(Like a lie).

Glutton
I have a problem: I eat everything I like.
Delectable diamonds, saucy silks,
Spicy high-heeled shoes.
Leather handbags titillate my taste buds like filet mignon.
Who knew the world could taste so good?

I’m sad to report the loss of our dear family pet,
But who can resist a treat
As tender as a terrier?

I ate my first love, in college--
forever loyal behind
sturdy walls of fat, muscle, and ribcage.
My (ex) husband’s there too.
I couldn’t quit him.
And my lover?
I took him in one bite.
And I’m still not full.

Behind the soft curve of my belly,
There’s something frightened and starving inside.
