I stand tall
viewing buildings
with gunshots filling my eardrums
and feeling alive.
No allies left,
it's just me.
One against many
meaning I won't survive.
I never learned to swim
because I couldn't stand it.
Would be the only thing
to keep me afloat.
I call Andrew
to help me keep alive.
He probably won't come
and I need a boat.
I run towards
with all my dignity.
Shots are fired
signalling my death.
Andrew has joined the game
it says on the bottom left.
Right after that
a bullet inserts my head.
"Andrew!"
I scream into my mic.
"I called you three minutes ago!"
"Sorry man", he replies.
Friends amaze me
showing up last minute
"attempt to help"
but lets me die.

I'm going to be honest...I literally died laughing. Like I legit started laughing and my sister looked at me like what the hell is wrong with you. Unlike other comments down below, I truly enjoyed this. Not only was I entertained, but my first thought when I finished it was THIS IS SMART. You did a sort of snake eye kind of thing with the readers, making them believe you were discussing a problem in real life when it was about a game all along. I have nothing to say but swell job and keep writing.
This was seriously brilliant.
And so funny once I figured out what was happening. A few of your lines are quite awkward and confusing, but the rest really made we want to read more. And I can totally relate with the last stanza.
Its happened to me many times before.
I really enjoyed it and I look forward to reading something else of yours.
Also, this poem isn't crap, like to said at the end.
Bye for now!

I'm legit going to write my reactions because I found it kinda funny XD
"I stand tall
viewing buildings
with gunshots filling my eardrums
and feeling alive."
-Ok, cool, basic military setting. So far, so good.
"No allies left,
it's just me.
One against many
meaning I won't survive."
- Well that got depressing quickly. Haha, ok, symbolism, blah blah blah
"I never learned to swim
because I couldn't stand it.
Would be the only thing
to keep me afloat."
- ...Wait, what? He's by water? But I thought he was in a city...is it New York or something? I guess that makes some sense, but that should probably be clearer. Also, what does that second part mean? What is keeping the person afloat? Point that out. *Mental check-box made*
"I call Andrew
to help me keep alive.
He probably won't come
and I need a boat."
- I thought it said that everyone is dead, how can you call someone that's dead??? And is he on a pier now? I am confused.
"I run towards
with all my dignity.
Shots are fired
signalling my death."
- Forward. Towards should be forward. It'd sound better. And where is this person running to? Apparently he's by water, so is he running into the ocean or is he running back toward the buildings? I am over-analyzing, but omg I don't know what is happening except this person is being shot at.
"Andrew has joined the game
it says on the bottom left.
Right after that
a bullet inserts my head."
- Wait, WHA??
"Andrew!"
I scream into my mic.
"I called you three minutes ago!"
"Sorry man", he replies."
- THIS IS A VIDEO GAME?!?! ldgskdbgkjxbgvskjbdvgkzxjfbzkjbzkjcfajsbcakjscbkajbcs, smfna, msfajbfkasjfb dsnm xcafjs, bznm cksjfajb *Mind imploded*
"Friends amaze me
showing up last minute
"attempt to help"
but lets me die."
- My brain wasn't saved either. Ok, so it was a video game all along. I guess that makes more sense, but still, the water thing was odd. Comment on that.

LOL so yeah, you kinda caught me off guard with the reveal of what was really happening. I thought this was gonna be some direct military/war poem, but it wasn't XDD
Yeah, the water thing kinda throws me off no matter if it is really or a video game, cause you state that there are buildings, so automatically someone will infer that the person is in a city, not near an ocean. The water really could just be taken out, and you could replace it with a car, a tank, maybe even another building. You could make it on fire or something if you wanted, but no matter what, the water doesn't make sense.
The story of what occurs is something many can relate to, including my own brother, 'cause I've seen many a time when he'd be playing one of those games and someone wasn't where they were supposed to be and he died. And then a rant would ensue. I'm sure this happens a lot with gamers.
Maybe that's why I didn't quite understand, 'cause I don't play video games. Haha, so good job there!
One grammar/common sense thing before I'm done:
"Would be the only thing
to keep me afloat."
Makes absolutely no sense whatsoever. It doesn't fit in the context, and is the first thing that throws people off. Change it. I don't care how, just change it because that is an awkward fragment that you really don't need.
Alright, I'm done.
Good Job!

I do need it, that's the problem. I am comparing it to survivors on water and all that. Also, the message means that friends suck at intervening.
Thanks!
If that is the case, then explain it. If you don't at least hint at what is on the water than no one will make the connection. And I understood that message, but I was also saying what I took from it.
You're Welcome!
Sorry for making this confusing and all
okay... I would post a reply, but this review pretty much covers everything I have to say
and, inserts my head should be enter or inserts itself into my head
Here to review! ^-^
This actually made me laugh when I realized it was about CoD. It's good though. It conveys meaning, even though it's about a game. You trick the reader at the beginning of the poem into thinking that this is about real life, and I think that is very admirable. You should be proud to be able to come up with something like this about such a topic.
