A girl cries as a mother screams
A girls hides as a father is cruel
A girl tries to run away but never gets far
A life is lost because one battle went too far
Blood runs down her wrists as the door bangs
Tears escape her eyes as she falls down
The night draws to a close as the sun does rise
Her life makes no sense yet she is still so wise
A life full of pain and hurt is there
Hidden by the laughter and smiles
Every so often a cry will come up
And every time she falls down she stands back up
Just because there is a smile in plain sight
Doesn’t mean there is one in her heart
Just because she says everything is fine
Doesn’t mean she hasn’t crossed the line

Wooow. This is FABULOUS. You've most certainly earned this place in Literary Spotlight!

Firstly, I like your rhymes, they're very effective and help the poem flow nicely along.
The first line intrigues the reader, which is obviously good, and the last line if great too. It just totally rounds off the poem and makes it great.
I really like the lines:
"Every so often a cry will come up
And every time she falls down she stands back up"
As they're so powerful and amazing, really well written and thought through.
Great work, I can't wait to read more of your writing!

Thank you so much
This a very interesting piece. the first part reminds me of a dysfunctional family with an abusive father, a submissive mother, and a daughter who wants to get away from it all. then it moves to a time of war where life has no meaning anymore and you would question "where is god in all this cruelty?' then next part shows one driven to the brink of insanity and faces the demons of his/her past. i can see a sense of absurdity and nihilism in this story.
Your writing amuses me and wish to read up on more in the future. keep up the good work.
Hey, this is a very good poem! It evokes a lot of imagery and I totally understand what the poem is about, and it was very descriptive. It's definitely dark, and justifiably so, and I think you pulled that off well.
My only quarrel is that it comes off as a rhyming poem, but multiple times throughout the poem you drop the rhyming, which really messes with how I'm reading the poem, it makes me stop and have to really think, "Did she mean to do that?" I'm not sure if you were trying to do something with it, but I just had trouble reading it because you were changing the structure almost constantly. Maybe tweak it to make it more free-verse or more rhyme-y?
Thanks so much for writing! Good luck!
Hey defiantAuthoress (cool name by the way) I'm not entirely sure what i was trying to do but I'm still trying to come up with a good way of rhyming or not rhyming so i hope it will improve in time. Thanks for the critique by the way
Hello:)...Nice poem,I really liked it, your choice of words, and the way you described the characters, made it so much more real for the reader and much more interesting! Well written, and wise topic to write on! I just have a little remark to make on the title,I understand that a title is always chosen by the writer and not the reader, but I do think that you could have used an other title just to grab the attention of the reader, Because it is such a good poem, I wouldn't want people to have doubts about reading it,only based it its title! Good work. I thank you for sharing!
Thanks. The title was a really random one, i'll probably end up changing it about 5 times knowing me me but thanks for the advice
Wassup Unstoppable. My name is Ossum, and this is your review.
) but a note of "This may not be the end." kind of line would make this piece all the more powerful. Leaving the reader with a sense of what will happen at the end of pieces like this are more powerful than ending them with a defining conclusion to a short poem like this.
So I will start off by saying... NO. No no no, times infinity. A girl with a name like that should never be feeling this way. If you are unstoppable then relay it in your work like the awesome girl I know you are.
Do not get me wrong, this is a powerfully emotional piece of work. And especially to me it hits home to many people. But let me say that there is a difference of emotion when a piece ends on a soft / sad note rather than a fatal / sad note. You're last line is one of the latter, and the reason I bring it up is that it does two things for us readers.
One it brings up an image of death in our minds, and it changes the mood from:
- Truly sad girl trying to fight for her happiness and freedom and not knowing how.
To:
- Truly sad girl who failed at gaining her happiness and freedom.
And it turns the piece into a orthodox of something that they wished they didn't read, or rather wish they had read differently. You do not need to end on a note of happiness, (Though I wish you would write more like that since you are a crazy hyper kind of person.
Again though, I powerful piece, but I will hope you take my critique and write more pieces about happiness and hopefulness and stuff like that. You deserve it Unstoppable. Keep up the good work ^-^
Later Gator!
