For a minute at the beginning I thought the criminal was the detective hehe.
Again, solid work. I love everything about this time in history, this is right up my alley. I don't know how you did it but somehow I can tell what period in history you're writing in before you even tell us. And I agree with naturesgirl, it was a good choice having the criminal's side of the story play out first then the detective's. Can't wait til you post more, this is really getting good.

Very nice! The first post really caught my attention. I admit, I was pretty confused after reading it, but this part cleared it up for me. I really like how you wrote in two different perspectives: the criminal and the detective. And that you presented the criminal's point of view first. Very good. It made me more willing to sympathize with him than if the detective had been presented first.

I don't really have anything to crit. Great job! I can't wait to see more of this story!
