Your comment was posted, but it wasn’t long enough to count as a review. Reviews need about four complete sentences (at least 250 characters). Try writing another review that explains your thoughts in more detail — the author will appreciate it, and you’ll earn points for it.
Thanks Shireling! Although this is so bad it makes me cringe now, I'm taking your comments on board for the rewrite!
Matthews in mentioned in "The Empty House". He knocked out Holmes left canine in the Charing Cross waiting room. I've always thought that was rather funny, so I might expand on that more when I rewrite.
And about the kitten... yes, I see your point. Maybe this cat's got a very trusting nature. Or maybe it's just too cold and starved to care what happens to it.
*puts out a box of liquorice pencils for Shireling*
What's originality for? Cookies are becoming over-worked.
Terribly sorry about the long delay in finishing my review for this.
Review of Chapter 3
I haven't found anything major, just some occasional typos.
And here
Probally to probably and immediatly to immediately.
I liked the part about Kit listening to Holmes playing his violin.
Seperate to separate. Except for the typo I liked this. Watson did write this one out didn't he? I can't recall the name of the story right now but Matthews sounds familiar.
Cranny and Everything. I also think you could reword this to bring some more action in. Right now the passivity of all the was's steal some feeling from the scene.
I'm not sure about this, while the symbolism of two strays suffering together through the cold wet weather is good, I just don't think a stray kitten would be that trusting. They are usually not to me and I like cats.
Received and detachment.
Another typo (irredescant to iridescent) and a funny scene.
Kit's got a lot of pluck to answer so cheekily after a morning of cold soaking. Me, I'd have been a gloomy, depressed wreck by then.
I think that you might want to move the section from the break line to the end of the chapter into the next chapter. It seems to fit there better.
Overall I really liked it. I wish I could help out more other than pointing out typos, I'll have to hit the books to brush up on some other elements. I'll also try not to be so long in doing the rest of these chapters.
Darling, that's what I did with In Thrall, and look at what that's evolved into. Also, just as a note of encouragement, In Thrall also started out as a fanfic set in the Star Wars universe--you can do this!
Kit as an adult would be just plain scary. In some ways she's like a Peter Pan in my mind; I don't want her to grow up. But I don't know... maybe... I'll give it some thought.
Thank you for reviewing, and yes, those errors have been duly noted. When I wrote this, I just cobbled it together in a hurry, so it wasn't planned out or anything.
THIOBS #1 : A review
In this first chapter I couldn't find much so I'm reduced to nitpicking. Here I thought that maybe you should describe his 'look' better, I'm assuming it is a kind of supercilious look of superiority but I'm not sure how to describe it, those words I just used are too big and cumbersome. Hmm, actually I'm not sure if this is a problem or not. After reading through something multiple times hunting for improvements I start to grasp at anything.
Chapter 2
This repetition of of 'others' could be swapped with 'people.' Otherwise it confuses the reader with the 'others' mentioned previously.
Also the part about "shrieking "feminism"" seems to stick out from the time period. To me at least.
'its' to 'it's' It's hard to remember which one to use.
I wish I could read those magazine articles too.
That's all I can do for now. Sorry that is not much help, you write too well for me find many errors--either that or they are well hidden.
About the story line it seems to be going quite well. The only thing I can think of right now that you should add is to try to squeeze in somehow, more of Holmes' deductive methods. And maybe give Kit some places to use Holmes' methods herself.
As a wild off the wall idea, have you ever thought about writing about Kit as an adult as a sort of successor to Holmes?
BIRD MUST HAVE MORE!!!!!!!!!!! (sorry, I'm not being very helpful, am I?)
Rewrite coming up...
I liked it. I loved it. I MUST HAVE MORE!!!!!!!!!!!!! YOU MUST WRITE MORE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I liked it.
Loved, in fact! Very creative, and I totally adored Kit. Don't have time to crit it right now, but when I get the chance, I will!
Ignore this thing's horrendousity, it'll be getting a rewrite some time soon.

This is reeeally good. No crit-please, just continue! I'm getting the feel of the era completely!

Also, I do have one comment. Holmes is mostly known for his minute examinations of things-perhaps you could include a little of that?
Wiggy
.
Glad you liked it, Myth!
Hello!
Noticed a few typos and spelling mistakes in there. Also, remember to add a paragraph for each new speaker, a couple of times you had Wiggins and Tobey speaking in the same paragraph and I didn’t know which one of them was talking.
I think it was more common to be called a ‘copper’ or ‘blue’ rather than ‘cop’.
An interesting beginning, or a short story if you don’t continue this, and I liked the simple but effective way it was told by a girl in disguise.
One other thing though, you need to have spaces between words and after dialogue, you failed to do that on a few points.
I hope to read more from you as I enjoyed reading this, I’m a fan of Holmes and Watson.
