Chapter two - Discoveries

Bang...bang... bang! "Wake up girl!" I gasp when I hear the sound of the demon that had captured me bang on the cage. It sneers, "It's time. You his now." It opens the cage door and reaches in to grab me by the leg and drag me out of the cage itself. "What the hell do you want with me?" I asked irritantly. It threw something on me and I noticed that it was a red dress; it appeared to be a Gothic Renaissance style. I look up at it as it grins widely and rasps with excitement, "Put dress on now." I sat there for a second and looked around for a place to change but there was nowhere to do so in privacy. It made an angry face, "Do it now!" It grabbed me by the throat and started to tear off the clothes I had on but I managed to escape from his grasp at the cost of most of my shirt, "Bastard!" I quickly slipped the dress on over what I had left then took off the scraps of cloth that clung to me only by threads, "What are you going to do to me? If you're going to kill me, do it now!" In fury, the sadness, tears, and fear from last night disappearing, I picked up the cage and threw it at the thing but I knew it was like hitting a brick wall.

Seeing as the distraction was a chance to escape, I lunged for the opening of the cave, yet unfortunately, I had not even taken three to four steps when the thing landed on me like a huge boulder. It knocked the wind out of me when I hit the floor and it dug its razor-sharp claws into my back. I lay on the stone cold floor as it whispered into my ear, "I no kill you but master who will." It jerked me up by my arm and dragged me out of the cave until I managed to get my footing and stood, "Where are you taking me now?" The demon hissed at me as it basically carried me up the stone wall beside the cave , "Do you never shut up? You talk in sleep, you talk in thoughts, you talk now. You never shut up." I clenched my teeth to silence myself because if I wanted to survive then I needed to plan. "You no escape wench!" It shouted as it banged my head on the wall when it climbed. I blanked my thoughts and my voice so it couldn't hear me in any way.

Feeling the silence made the demon relax its muscles until it quickly reached the top of the stone wall and jumped into some trees, shifting me to one side so it carried me under its arm, then started jumping from branch to branch. I felt the air become more and more chilling as we ascended the Kiske Mountains to some unknown place.

Then no more than ten minutes later of the silence did the demon stop jumping and land on the ground, "Someone killed master..." It looked down to me with a mixture of fear, anger, and a smirk. "I no need you now." It shot its head down to my neck and tore off a chunk of my flesh. In instant pain, I screamed as I felt the blood pour from me and felt the unbearable burning in my neck. The demon screeched and flung me against a tree. I heard a bone-chilling scream when I felt the tree behind me crack and felt myself fall to the ground. It wasn't until pain coursed through me from my broken back that I realized that I was the one who screamed because now I let silent tears fall from my eyes.

Numbing to the body-shredding pain, my vision became blurry with blood also seeping from the head wound that was inflicted when the demon had smashed my head into the wall. I heard the demon screech as it neared me but before I knew it, something else jumped from the trees above and landed on the demon that had nearly killed me. It looked like another human but whoever it was didn't seem like it. The person easily shredded the demon from head to toe, splattering its blood everywhere, then dropped the body to the ground as if it was a rag doll.

When I started to black-out, the last thing that I saw was someone, something, stepping towards me with a mouthless and noseless mask accompanied by stark-ravingly black hair and shockingly crystal-blue eyes. All I could remember feeling before blacking out was icy cold skin and the feeling of being lifted off the ground by an unknown force. All I could do now was hope that I wouldn't die.

"Miko! Oh Miko!" A woman cried my name. Then a familiar man's voice follow the woman's voice, "We found her at the edge of the forest near where we had found Kiba. It looked like she had been running from something but I'm glad she got away....." I felt a warm hand on my face, "Miko, wake up. Miko please answer me!" I heard footsteps all around me and could tell that some where even kneeling. Weak but determined, I opened my eyes to find myself surrounded by the people I knew; Kimeru, Kris, Mishka, Mr. Nemo, Cam, Brock, Shiya, Fred, and even all the people from the market. They all had teary expressions, sad faces, or even fear and anger. I saw Mr. Nemo and the seamstress woman eyeing me suspiciously as I wore the necklace I had wanted and the dress from the Boutique around the corner from Mr. Nemo's.

Kimeru hugged me up, "Oh Miko, I'm so glad you're ok!" She let go and helped me to sit up. Remembering the wound in my neck, I moved my hair to reveal damaged skin but somehow, there wasn't a chunk missing but the wound was still bad; I also noticed that my back was no longer broken. I then gazed at the hand I touched my neck wound with then touched the back of my head with the other hand. Both had blood which made everyone go into hyperdrive; Kimeru gasped and rushed me to the nearest house of Mishka's and Kris went after the town doctor. Everyone else was told to go home by one of the local Peace Keepers.

I felt myself unable to move, unable to speak as I looked at Kimeru, though when I did try to speak, nothing came out. Alerted, she quickly set me on one of Mishka's guest beds with Mishka at her side, "What is it Miko?" Mishka knelt beside me, "You can do it." I swallowed with a dry mouth and attempted once more, "K....kiba..." I whispered dryly. Kimeru motioned to Mishka, "She's taking care of him. He's sleeping downstairs. It seems that whatever had attacked you, Kiba tried to defend you but got hurt in the process. He has a few broken ribs and a fractured skull; we found him yesterday. We had search parties going the last two nights as we tried to find you but you were nowhere to be found." She grabbed me in another hug as tears slid from her eyes, "I don't know what happened to you but you're safe now... You're safe."

Feeling Kimeru's sadness, I cried, "I'm...s..sorry. I j...just wanted to help Mr... Nemo....Demon stole his necklace.... but...lured me away..." She layed me back down when she noticed that she had been touching my wounds then watched Mishka walk out of the room when Kris entered the house with the doctor. Kimeru moved some hair out of my face, "We know a demon stole from Mr. Nemo because it stole from the seamstress as well." She looked at the torn wine-red dress I wore, "We saw the demon yesterday, stealing from both of them. Kris and a few other men chased it out of town and followed it all the way to the forest where they found Kiba. So knowing they might find you if they went back a second time, they went back and found you laying on the ground. They said you looked like you had passed out from blood loss and exhaustion..." Kimeru had just started to wipe the tears from her eyes when Kris, Mishka, and Dr. Kraine walked into the room.

A half an hour later when Dr. Kraine finished bandaging me up and hooking me to an I.V. with a blood transfusion, he went downstairs to everybody to give them a report on my wounds and how bad they were. He left me tucked in bed, warm, and comfortable so I easily slid into an effortless sleep with the haunting reminder of the demon in my mind but also the demon that had saved me. The masked man.
