THE WORLD
Is the world round?
Though wisdom says spherical
As an egg?
But could it be flat
as a surface
or curved,
As a man’s face
It could be straight
As an I
Or bent
From the thigh
It could be Strong
as a gale
Soft?
it could be frail
Rough or neat,
Stained?
That could be it
No,
The world is crooked
Even as the branch of a tree
It is cruel
To the core
Evil
When you look the more
A world with no rule,
No code
Free to do
Just with a little gold

Good Morning/Afternoon/Evening/Night(whichever one it is in your part of the world),
Hi! I'm Kate and I'm here to leave a quick review!!
Anyway let's get right to: Kate's Line by Line Reactions;
Well this is quite the intriguing poem that we've got here. It has an almost light hearted fun vibe to it, maybe its just the structure there in some of the places that lend that idea but of course the second that you dive a little deeper into the meaning of it, things start to get a lot more complicated a lot more quickly and I love it.
I think the way that is slowly goes from this simple question about the world and how its shaped and how things are formed in this almost innocent and somewhat childlike voice to the answers there, each one a more powerful metaphor than the last it really builds up an extra layer of meaning there I think, almost like a person born as this egg as it were, not knowing the world, only to discover more and more and realize just how cruel and unfair it can all be as one grows up.
Overall I think its a lovely take on how the world can be in this day and age an how you realize it the more you try to explore it. Quite nicely done there.
Aaand that's it for this oneee!!!
As always remember to: Take what you think was helpful and forget the rest!
Kate
wow thanks for the kind review
Hi there, friend! My name is Ellie and I am delighted to see your poem in the Green Room! Let's jump right in to the review
So this poem begins by focussing on the question, "Is the world round?" Which I assume is asking, is it a globe, or is it flat, which are different opinions some people have about the planet. You describe a lot of different visual settings, ideas, places, and things, asking, could this be the shape of the earth? I liked how you used the letter I as one thing you related it too. I can see a lot of symbolism in each of these objects or opinions you expresss. Overall, I just sense that feeling of wonder and awe, focusing on the idea that there are some things that we will never no for certain, despite what we see or hear.
Then you shift from the literal shape of the earth tp a more symbolic outlook, stating that the world is a crooked place, which begins to have more of an emotional impact instead of literal or symbolically. You state:
I liked this ending. And I loved how easily you shifted between this differentiating ideas throughout the poem. Overall, this was quick and easy to read, but the more I looked at it, the more depth I found in your words. Overall, lovely poems and thank you for being here.
Your friend,
Ellie
thanks a lot dear friend for your kind review
Hey there new writer! It’s Coffee here to drop a quick review, hopefully with many more to come!! <3
Firstly, I love how insightful this is and how it goes from seemingly scientific to rather philosophical and practical.
The descriptions are really fresh and I love how fresh it is even though it’s based off of quite debatable and “heard” topics, y’know?
As I said, it starts off quite sensibly, on a heated topic!
Flat Earthers VS Round Earthers!!
^^
It has a kind of professionalism to it, the words feel polite and the tone used for the writing isn’t really hinting to anything special.
Then, it starts to really dig into the different possibilities, making you wonder if you started reading a non-fiction piece. But, it hints at a completely differently orientated story…
This tells us what this piece is about. Ah. So it’s about how corrupt our world is. Ah, I get it.
But, is it?
It could be about how corrupt humans are? About how we may have cause our own demise and our planets even though we knew ages before this point and could have prevented our doom-climate change?? How we have created corruption in everything-in our daily lives?
Clothes-sweatshops.
Law-hierarchies.
Wealth-exploitation.
Power-greed. Everything.
This to me seems to suggest a prospect to a better world. A world where we don’t have to fight for money to support our families. A world where we don’t have to abide by useless and corrupt rules. A world where we are free to do what we please without fear and nonsensical consequences.
A world where we are free from our cages to fly and live without chips implanted into our brains.
Sorry for this short review but I couldn’t really analyse much! This is a very deep poem without multiple meanings, layers and interpretations! Overall, love this!!
Thank you for sharing and have a good day/night!<3
