Monster Under the Bed

A kid who thought
That the monster under her bed was her worst nightmare
No one could see it but it was there

What if the monster under the bed came out
And introduced itself
Told me it was hell
To be scared of yourself
It ate itself inside just to look alright
The monster under the bed
or the one that's in my head

Now I'm older and realized the monster was me the whole time
I ran from the person I was
I was hiding under someone's bed
Hoping the feelings in my head would go away
And I'd be the scary one
Just to not feel scared

What if I came out from under the bed
And introduced myself
Shouted it was hell
To be scared of yourself
I ate myself inside just to look alright
The monster under the bed
Or the one that's in my head

What if the monster inside
Finally resigned
Took up and left
Never said goodbye
Would I finally not be, so scared to fight back
Not scared to hide who I was

But maybe one day
He'll see that no one wants him here
And then he'll leave
My head will be free

I'll wait for the day where I'll feel ok
But it ain't today
So I'll wait for the monster to show it's head
Tell me it's hell
Then go back inside

As someone who knows your works,I'm gonna review this. But as always I love them.I still remember your songs.Still remember them so well. And the memories we both made, but nevermind that rq.

Now I'm older and realized the monster was me the whole time
I ran from the person I was
I was hiding under someone's bed
Hoping the feelings in my head would go away
And I'd be the scary one
Just to not feel scared

These are so relatable and these are my favorite lines.Though it was hard to choose because I love all your works, but I'm not explaining why but I just love how you mention you ran away from the person you were. From what you know about me,you know that's true for me but you never told me that you also had a story like that.
I've missed you and your works more then I can say,but I hope that you share your works on here too

i genuinely love this so much omg 😭 i relate to this in so many ways and i think thats what makes it hit so hard for me. the way the monster slowly becomes a metaphor for the person themselves is such a powerful idea, and i love how it shows the struggle of trying to hide parts of yourself just to seem okay to everyone else. the repetition makes it feel even more emotional too, like the same thoughts keep coming back no matter how hard you try to escape them. the ending especially got me because it feels so painfully honest, like wanting to feel okay but knowing that you arent there yet. this is genuinely so beautifully written and i love how raw and personal it feels. honestly this poem is SO GOOD and i think a lot of people could find parts of themselves in it too

Thank you so much :> I am someone who's pretty direct so writing raw songs is kinda something that comes more easily.
Thank you again lol I'm not used to sharing my poems with others

Too often we crave the extraordinary in life, without even learning how to cherish the ordinary first. Friend, I promise you this: if you can learn to take joy in the simple mundane things in life, the extraordinary will take care of itself, it'll be on its way, hurrying towards you. But if you skip the first part, it'll ever evade you.
