Hello everyone, sorry I haven't been on YWS for ages but I'm back now!
I just want to see if anyone can help me develop an idea for a novel that I got whilst daydreaming 
Here it is:
A former journalist in hiding writes a newspaper on his typewriter (his only possesion) for everyday. As he is hiding from something the newspapers are no use to anyone else and are kind of like a personal diary. But then something finds him along with the newspapers and something happens which changes the man's life...
I know at the moment this has no substance whatsoever and it might just be one of those ideas that you just have to let go. But, I'm determined that with your help I can make this into something special.
Basically, I need you to fill in the somethings'. What is this mans background? Why is he hiding and who is he hiding from? Where is he? What does he write about in these secret newspapers? What finds him and how? What do they make of the newspapers? What happens to the man?
I know I'm asking for quite a lot because I'm basically asking for you to come up with a whole story because this is nothing but an undeveloped idea but please have a go and maybe edit other peoples ideas to make them better?
This is kind of like one of those online story creators where it generates an idea and you have to build it from there. I'm looking forward to seeing your ideas!

Well! I really like that idea! I'll bear in mind and see where I can go from there. I'm a creative writer so maybe I oculd use your idea to invent some kind of mythical creature!

Hiya, Sophie! Coco here, hopefully I can help.
All writer's are different. I'm the kind of writer who jumps with the very first idea I get and the very first thing that popped to my mind when I read your idea was this.
You say that this man is a journalist - why not make him a young journalism student who stumbles upon an incredible secret while working on an assignment (you fill in the gap here). What does he discover? That depends on your genre. If it's supernatural, for example, then maybe your character can discover werewolves and vampires are behind some of the recent disappearances and gruesome murders happening around the area in which he lives. In order to inform the public, he starts his own newspaper, or publishes articles in an already established newspaper presenting his evidence. His newspaper article attracts a demonologist who has been researching the existence of vampires and werewolves his whole life - together they join forces in order to keep the streets safe. Maybe then the vampires and werewolves attempt to hunt him down because the character is exposing their existence which might cause attacks against them.
I'm so totally high on Red Bull right now so I'll totally understand if you think this idea's a bit, well...crazy
