The drive to Moses’ house didn’t take too long, which I kind of disliked, because car rides usually made me sleepy, just looking outside and enjoying the motion of the car was really calming for me. As we arrived at Moses’ block I swear to you it was so quiet you could hear a pin drop fall on the ground. To make things worse no one was outside.

“I could never live here man, it’s really dead,” Chad said as he parked his father’s car right in front of Moses’ driveway.

“I feel you, but I kind of like the quiet and safe tone Moses’ area has. It’s different ain’t it?”

“You got that right.” Chad then proceeded to unlock the doors as we both came out the car. Being in that Bentley must of gave me huge confidence, because I put on my most swagged out and boss walk ever, I even had my little shoulder lean in there too. Nothing could have ruined my stance, I was too focused walking to Moses’ front door and showing him what ride we picked up, that is till Chad like the imbecile he is, started walking all over the grass.

“Aye Chad, what the hell you think you’re doing man, this ain’t our property, get off the grass.”

Chad quickly got off the grass and walked up the stairs to Moses’ front door as he began to take out a pack of cigarettes. You better believe I smacked that shit right out of his hands before he could put it to his mouth.

“What the hell man.”

“Dude, no smoking or drugs around Moses’ family, are you nuts.” I swear Chad had no chill button. He picked up his cigarette and stored the pack away into his right pocket.

“Fine, I’ll save these for later then.” Chad then proceeded to ring Moses’ doorbell.

Someone had peaked through the window at the front of the house but looked away before I could make out who it was. They then began to unlock the door and open it. It turned out to be Moses’ old sister, Mary.

“You guys must be here for Moses, I’ll go call him now,” Mary said as she began to leave the door.

“Mary wait.” Chad knocked on the door quick. Mary came back and unlocked the door for us.

“Oops, how could I have forgot,” Mary said as she began to giggle.

Chad then put on his sexy voice, which to me made him sound more like a rapist, it was all slow and just plain not sexy. “That’s not why I called you over here Mary, you forgot to tie your shoes, please tie them because I don’t want you falling for anybody else but me.” When Chad said this I couldn’t help but burst out laughing. If there was a competition of the cheesiest pickup lines, I think Chad would win all the way. Now that I mention it, he would surf the web looking for pickup lines to use on girls, and the thing was they worked, well, most of the time. Mary looked down at her feet only to see slippers on.

“Well Chad, if I had shoes on, maybe that would have made more sense, but as always your flirtation fails.” Mary smiled and then walked away, calling for Moses. “Moses, your friends are here.”

“She wants me dude, I could tell,” Chad said as he tapped my shoulder.

“Oh yeah, like a smart Pre-med major would want your drug dealing ass. She is taking after her parents, and I don’t think they would approve of you so get over yourself Chad,” I said as I rolled my eyes. Chad was handsome I’ll give him that, but the only girls he attracted were the ones that got around the block a couple of times already if you know what I mean.

“Come on bro, no faith in me what so ever, who just helped us pick up those two other girls on the way here?”

“You did almighty Chad.”

“Right, so believe me when I say Moses’ sister is all mine, who cares if she is like three years older, it wouldn’t be the first.” Just as Chad finished his sentence Moses came down the stairs, dressed in all white, which to my surprise looked really good on him.

“Hey bros, what’s the plans for the day,” Moses said as he came and greeted us.

“I was thinking we chill at my Chad’s house for a while, play some video games, discuss life, the usual,” I said as Moses and I gave each other a bro hug.

Moses smiled. “Sounds good, I can’t stay out too late though, my parents want me back for some prayer service later. Oh, and before I forget,” Moses quickly ran upstairs and came back down within twenty seconds with a bag. “You ever heard of an Ouija board?”

The name definitely sounded familiar, but I couldn’t really picture the whole thing in my head. Chad was familiar with it however.

“Oh yeah, isn’t it like an outlet to like the other world, or what you call it, the spirit world. It’s like a game where a spirit answers questions.” When Chad finished his sentence I was amazed, it was the smartest thing I ever heard him say, which was pretty sad.

“Wow, I know what that is now.” As soon as I became familiar with the term again, a bad feeling just came over me. “We shouldn’t play that, my mom warned me about those, we shouldn’t mess with things like that, put it away Moses, we could have fun without it.”

Chad quickly sucked his teeth. “Dude lighten up, have a little fun, it’s just a board, don’t tell me you believe in all that supernatural shit. Look at Moses, he is the most religious one here and he isn’t even scared. Ain’t that right Moses.” Chad then looked at Moses for reassurance.

“Yeah, trust me Xez, if anything happens you have Chad and I to fall back on,” Moses said as he tapped my shoulder. I know I always feel safe around my friends but this I wasn’t too sure about, my mom really was against it when I mentioned it one time, almost like she knew the dangers of spirits and stuff, in fact, she hated all that stuff. She never explained to me where her fears really originated from, I just thought some things aren’t worth asking, you know.

“Alright guys, any of you have holy water or a cross by any chance.” I was really hoping one of them said yes.

“Fuck no,” Chad said as he laughed and headed for the door.” Chad of course had to be the one. “Aye Moses, guess what ride we came in today.”

Moses’ eyes grew as a smile came across his face within seconds. “Wait, no way, you brought it?”

Chad nodded, and soon after Moses jumped and celebrated. “No freaking way, dude I freaking love you. You two are my homies for life I swear.” Moses quickly ran outside with the bag which held the Ouija board, which I was hoping he would forget out of excitement.

“Lets go Xez, we have a full day ahead of us.” Chad quickly left and held the door open for me.

“Ah why not.” I followed Chad outside as Moses kept jumping around the car, taking selfies from every direction.

Hey,

Nice story, it was really fun to read. Not just because I'm bored in school at the moment, I promise. JazzyDracula did a nice job on the nitpicks so I don't really have anything to nitpick. Reading through I found a grand total of zero spelling errors, which personally I found impressive because that's not something I often see. My favorite part of this story has to be the end:

followed Chad outside as Moses kept jumping around the car, taking selfies from every direction.

I love this bit, in my opinion I think it was a great touch of humor to add to this story and I enjoyed it. You have a lot of talent as a writer in my opinion and I hope to read more of your work some day, until then nice work keep writing!
Sincerely,
Collideascope

Heya! I'll just get through any nitpicks I find before I point out the good things. The following will just be grammar or spelling mistakes...
I swear to you it was so quiet you could hear a pin drop fall on the ground
You need to get rid of either 'drop' for 'fall'. A 'pin drop' is not a thing. A pin can drop, or a pin can fall.
Being in that Bentley must of gave me huge confidence,
I don't know how to explain it, sorry, but 'gave' needs to be 'given', or you could just get rid of 'must of'.
who cares if she is like three years older, it wouldn’t be the first.”
The girl isn't an 'it'. The girl is a 'she'.
“Lets go Xez, we have a full day ahead of us.”
Let's.
So those are all the nitpicks I found. Now to the good things..
I think you described the beginning very well. I could easily imagine the scene with the descriptions you gave and I got to learn a lot about the characters and their attitudes.
There's some lines which I really love... “Oh yeah, isn’t it like an outlet to like the other world, or what you call it, the spirit world. and I followed Chad outside as Moses kept jumping around the car, taking selfies from every direction. They were funny but not too funny that I couldn't take the story seriously. Stuff like that is good to read.
I like the way you introduced the ouija board into the story and I look forward to reading more.

Thanks for the review I appreciate it and I'll be sure to make changes

Everything has to be taken on trust; truth is only that which is taken to be true. It's the currency of living. There may be nothing behind it, but it doesn't make any difference so long as it is honoured. One acts on assumptions. What do you assume?
