The Earth - I. River

The river is flowing
drifting and blowing
it carves its way through
earth and trees,
continuing to make
beautiful tangled webs
sitting atop the land.

The leaves overhead
lean inwards as if to block
River from the suns rays.
The rocks inderneath
push up through River
folding its edges
to create beautiful layers of art.

A woman stands in Rivers path
it wraps around her feet
caressing her skin.

This woman is lost
sadness is paramount
by standing in water
she hopes to wash away her pain
see it dance away with River
River accepts
and carries her burdens away.

With newfound strength
River goes as it is.

An old dead tree falls on River
its agonies released
overwhelming knowledge
weighed it down
from watching children and animals
all these years
it learned through observation,
and its knowledge passes through onto River -
River absorbs its teachings.

With newfound happiness
River goes as it is.

A beautiful crimson flower
drops from the sky
accenting River
with sharp colour
this flower stayed as it could
then splashed onto a rock,
and the Sun dried out its colour -
River drowned away its loneliness.

With newfound strength
River goes as it is.

Its destination arrives
River leaks into a grand lake
and flows amongst birds and fish.

This is not the end.

A nice flowy poem. I love the first stanza, especially:

it carves its way through
earth and trees,
continuing to make
beautiful tangled webs

Wow. Wow.

Excellent.

First off... I really liked the concept. Secondly; naming River was genius. It just let it flow that much better and really accentuates the character a lot, I think.

Awesome stuff. Keep it up. :thumb:
