It all started with a pencil

E - Everyone

It all started with a pencil

While sitting in detention

Didn't know what's right from wrong

Drawing on my desk

Still thought I knew it best

I knew they would never hand me anything on a silver platter

So I had to got and fetch the paper

Myself

As I picked up the pencil

And I treated it like a mentor

To teach me all the ropes of knowledge

I treated it like sword

To defeat all the problems that were caused by ignorance

I treated it like a Queen

To take control of my mind

To put an end to the reign of insecurities that were cause by lies

It wasn't just a pencil, it was a key to open up the creative juices of my mind

And the world is like a mop trying to clean it all up

Because the creative juices,is spilling out of control but it will never run out

Writing is my passion

Writing is my dream

Its not just a pencil, its a flame burning inside of me

Writing is an idea that pushes beyond limits

Its allows me to break out of the prison, that society puts me in

Writing is my lover

My longest relationship

Writing is a doctor that heals all the confusion cause by society of the idea of perfection.

Ignorance is our biggest flaw

Writing is knowledge

Knowledge is power

Power is endless

Less about what we can't change

And more about what we can

Yes we can

Yes we will do it

It all started with a pencil

A pencil is a tool to fix all my thoughts and ideas together, to create something greater then your nd my mind's borders.

Writing changes the readers minds

So if we teach the nation to read

We can change the nations

if we must change the nation,

It all starts with a pencil!!!

It all starts with a pencil! The title drew me in, what started with a pencil? Is a really well-written poem, and I can definitely relate. You've written quite a lot of truths in there about most writers and I think that's what makes it so beautiful.

I really like how you've convey your ideas through the use of imagery and a succession of words. Like

'Writing is knowledge

Knowledge is power

Power is endless'

I also like how you started it with 'It all starts with a pencil' then ends it with the same sentence.

Nice job!

I really loved this poem! There aren’t very many poems out there that I really connect to, but this is one of them. It flows really well without having to rhyme, which quite a feat. Usually I enjoy those kinds of poems over non-rhyming ones, but this one was different. I enjoyed the imagery you used to convey the message, especially in the beginning when you were talking about being in school with the desire to write. I could imagine myself in that situation, and I have had those exact same feelings before. The end really wrapped up the poem nicely. Keep writing!!!

Hey there, thank you so much for taking the time to read my poem! And give such good feedback, I really appreciate it!

Hello, Peace! I'm here to help your poem with a few spelling and grammar errors.
First, in the seventh line, you said, "So I had to got and fetch the paper". I think you meant to say 'go'.
Also, the nineteenth line says, "Because the creative juices,is spilling out of control but it will never run out". You should probably rephrase that to say something like, "Because the creative juices are spilling out of control, but they will never run out."
In the twenty-second line, both of the 'its' should be capitalized.
Line twenty four says, "Its allows me to break out of the prison, that society puts me in". That should say "It allows me", and I don't think you need a comma.
In line twenty seven, "cause" should be "caused", and maybe say "society's idea of" instead of "of the idea".
At the end of line thirty seven, I think you meant to type "and".
In line thirty eight, "readers" should have an apostrophe.
And that's all I can see to critique! I like the idea this poem presents, and I like how you repeated the line, "It all starts with a pencil."
I hope this review makes any sense at all to you. I kind of get obsessive when it comes to grammar. :) Anyway, nice poem, and I hope to see more from you!

Thank you so much, your feedback is very useful, and I thank you for not only taking the time to read my poem, but also to help me make it better! I truly appreciate it :)

Oh, Hi there! I love this poem, I can relate to it. Writing has always been a way to explain my emotions and show the others things I couldn't say.
I like how the beginning says "It all started with a pencil", and how, at the end, the sentence is repeated. To me, it feels like the rising structure of narration, the beginning, the rising action, when the narrator finds paper ands tarts writing, the climax, when the narrator explains just how much writing is important, and then the conclusion, when the repetition of the sentence that started everything brings our minds back to where we were.
However, like BloodinkSeesFootage said, punctuation is needed.
Also, the sentence: "Writing changes the readers minds", should be "Writing changes the readers' minds"
Anyways, it is a beautiful peace, I love it! Keep going!

Thank you so much for your much needed feedback :) and for taking the time to read my poem, and I will surely take your advise :)

Reading was a pleasure, and you are very welcome

I like the premise behind this poem.
However, for the most part you are in dire need of punctuation.
It reads as one continuous thought and it can make it hard for the reader to process.
Take this line for example:
'Power is endless

Less about what we can't change

And more about what we can

Yes we can

Yes we will do it'

You start to use punctuation at the end, which is great. But you need it throughout, this will also add continuity to your piece.

Just a little bit of editing needed here, however, the work itself is a very interesting idea. :)

Thank you so much for your much needed feedback, I truly appreciate it!

That was absolutely amazing!

I could relate from the start, with the first two lines, even. The first time I started writing, I was stuck in my room, hiding away from my inebriated parents, locked, pretending there was no one but me, trying to vent, but there was no one I could talk to, until I found the paper and the pencil.

My favorite part is probably;
'Writing is my lover
My longest relationship'
Because my life is basically a bunch of failed relationships (not all romantic, I mean friends, family, church, and all that comes with it), and the one thing I've had since I can remember, is the pencil.

Really, great job!

Thank you so much, your feedback is so im

Your feedback is so important to me,and I relly appreciate it :)
