Chapter 1

My name is Grey Summers. I live in Lauderdale, Arizona, which is typically the most boring place on earth. It is the first day of school. Our English teacher, Ms. Dronet has asked us to write a paper using one word to describe ourselves. What word I would use to describe me, freshmen, Grey Summers? Invisible. I'm invisible. I don't know why I am considered this, I'm not weird or anything. I'm very average, except for my eyes that is.

My eyes are grey, and yes that’s where my name came from. My parents thought it would be a good idea to name their child a color. I mean, don't get me wrong, I love my name, I just wish my parents were more original.

Finally the bell rings, and I leave the classroom and head off to lunch. I'm immediately trampled by all the boys running to be first in the lunch line. I start to head outside to the picnic tables, and run into my best friend Macey.

Macey Edwards has been my best friend since second grade. Macey is one of the nicest people you will ever meet. She's short with dark brown hair with a blue streak in it. It goes along with her personality. She's very hyperactive, smart, and pretty.

We walk to an abandoned picnic table and take out our lunches from home. As long as I can remember, we have never eaten at school.

"So how is your first day going so far?", Macey asks as she bites into her sandwich. “Pretty good actually," I responded. "That’s good," she says, “So did you hear the news?", she asks. "No what news?”, I say while swatting at a fly buzzing in front of me. "There's a new family moving to town, Carly Rosas said someone bought the house next door to her". I'm still swatting at the fly when I reply," So why is this information so important."

"Because", replies Rayne who sits down next to Macey. Rayne Hebert is one of my closest friends as well. She has dark, jet black hair, and green eyes. She's very skinny and has a cute little face. "Carly told me that the new people who moved in next door have two sons."

I started to get excited. In Lauderville, we have the same old immature boys who don't give a shit about the girls they date. "How old are they?" I ask Rayne a little too anxiously. Rayne replies," I dunno, but Carly said they are both in our grade." I started to get my hopes up.

I only had one boyfriend. His name was Dawson Ware and he was one of the most obnoxious douche bags in the world. I only dated him because he was the only one who was interested in me. I finally ended it when he cheated on me, videotaped it, and sent it to everyone. I started to wonder if either of those two boys would be interested in me.

"Are they hot?" ,Macey asked Rain interrupting my thoughts. "Once again, I dunno," Rain said,” And get this, Carly said one of them has a girlfriend who moved in with them." This information was shocking to me. "How could anyones' parent let that happen when their kids are so young?" I asked. "Well not everyone’s parents are religious freaks like yours." replied Rain.

She had a point. I forgot to mention that my parents are one of the most religious people on this earth. Luckily their religiousness didn't rub off on me. They’re Christians, but they just basically abuse the religion and set way too extreme rules for me and my little brother, Kael. For example, I'm fifteen but I'm still not allowed to watch anything

rated PG-13. I know, it's silly but they still are my parents and I love them.

The bell started to ring. "Well I'll see you too dipshits tomorrow!" shouted Rain as we all got up to leave. Another thing about Rain, she has a very dirty vocabulary and doesn't mind flaunting it. "Bye!" Macey and I shouted in unison.

The rest of the day went by pretty fast. I found out I have two classes with Macey and three with Rain. Freshmen year was looking pretty good for me so far.

When the final bell rang, I walked out ot the parking lot and waited for Rain. I ride home with Rain everyday. I sat in the front seat while Rain started the engine. I pulled down the mirror and checked my self. My makeup from this morning started to fade away. The sun was shining through the window making my dark, blonde hair shine. I stared at my eyes. What kind of mutation could've caused someone’s eyes to turn grey, I thought. We rode to my house in silence.

After I got dropped off at my house, I went to check on Kael. He's only nine, so I have to make sure he's not getting into trouble or causing it. As I opened his room door he screamed. "You scared me!", he shouted. "Sorry", I replied innocently, “ So, how was your first day?" I asked. "Fine." he said. "Ok, well I'm going shower. Mom and Dad will be home soon." He stared at me," Ok you can leave now." he stated harshly. I turned around, God for a little kid he can be very mean sometimes, I thought.

After my shower I heard my parents walk through the door. My clock in the bathroom read 4:46. They’re home early I thought. My parents were both nurses and didn't usually get home till six. I grabbed my clean clothes, changed, and went into the living room. they were sitting on the couch.

"You guys are home early," I stated bluntly. My Mom replied," Yes, we decided to come home early to hear about yall's first day of school." I stared at her, “It was fine," I said and hurried to my room.

I decided to watch some TV. I finally settled on "Awkward" and was only watching for thirty minutes when I started to drift off.

When I woke up my clock read 10:57. I rolled over and went back to sleep. I dreamt of a boy. A very hot boy, with dark brown hair and green eyes who was staring at me. I wanted to know his name. When I finally opened my mouth to ask it, my alarm woke me up.

I got dressed, ate breakfast, and went outside to wait for Macey to take me to school. Macey tried to talk to me, but all I could think of was that mysterious boy in my dream.

Chapter 2

We pulled up to the school, gathered our things, and started to walk to the school entrance. As I pushed the door open, and walked inside, I felt happy and excited. That’s when I noticed him for the first time. I literally stopped in my tracks and stared at him with awe. It was the boy from my dream.

He was tall and muscular, with dark brown hair and green eyes. I noticed he was staring at me too. He quickly turned around and started talking to a guy who had the same body shape as him, and some girl with dark hair and blue eyes.

“Hello! Earth to Grey!” ,Macey yelled in front of everyone. “Sorry”, I said. It was the only word I could manage to say at the moment. “Who are they?” I stammered pointing at the two boys and one girl. “That’s the new kids” Rayne said as she walked up to us. I couldn’t believe it. “What’s their names?” I asked.

“Well the boy with the black hair is Slader Pierce, and the girl he’s holding hands with is Audrey Mace.” she answered. “What about the boy with the dark brown hair?” I asked. “That’s Drake Pierce.” She answered me again.

“I don’t care what the boys’ names are, they are freaking hot!” Macey exclaimed. She was telling the truth. They were gorgeous, especially Drake. Aubrey wasn’t that bad looking herself either. The three of them seemed to have some sort of aura around them. I couldn’t explain it but I felt connected to them in some way.

I said goodbye to Macey and Rayne and headed to my first period. As I walked in to history, a set of lovely glowing green eyes followed me as I sat in my desk. I decided to gather some courage and introduce myself. “Hi I’m Grey.” I said. He reached for my hand to shake it,” Drake Pierce,” he said. God don’t let go of my hand I thought.

“So Grey huh, that’s an interesting name,” he said. “Yeah my full name is Grey Summers, pretty intriguing I guess,” I said kind of too fast. “Your eyes are grey too, is that where your name came from?” he asked. “Yes,” I blushed. “Cool, nice to meet you Grey Summers.” God those eyes are beautiful I thought.

After my morning classes, I headed out to the picnic tables as usual. I headed in the direction of my usual spot, to find it occupied by Macey, Rayne, Drake, Slader, and Aubrey. I sat down next to Aubrey, who was for some reason staring at me intently. She whispered something to Slader, who immediately looked in my direction.

“So,” Macey said, trying to break the awkward silence, “Where did you guys move from?” Slader and Aubrey’s gaze left me and went to Macey. “Texas”, answered Aubrey. “So why did you move here?”, I asked. Slader’s, Aubrey’s, and Drake’s eyes turned to me again. “Complications,” answered Slader.

Assuming that the subject was off limits I said,” So are you two going to play football?” I asked Slader and Drake. “No, why would you think that?” Drake said while grinning very seductively. “Because your’re fucking huge!” Rayne answered for me,” I mean really, you guys look like the men from the weight lifting magazines.” Aubrey smiled,” Yeah they like to work out a lot,” she said while eyeing Slader. “ I have to keep myself looking pretty to keep up with you,” Slader said to Aubrey while putting his hand over hers.

They’re obviously in love, I wonder if Drake has a girlfriend too I thought. “So are you two brothers?” Macey asked looking at Slader and Drake intently. “Yes,” replied Slader, “I’m the oldest.” He smiled at me. “But I’m stronger,” Drake said while gently punching Slader in the shoulder. We all chuckled and the bell rang.

I headed to my next class, which was Music Appreciation or MA for short. As I walked in I heard a familiar voice behind me, “I just can’t keep you away from me can I?” Drake said. I turned around,” I didn’t know you can sing.” He just stared at me with those adorable green eyes. “Yeah, I’m pretty decent,” he answered.

We took our seats, and Mrs. Earl, the music teacher, started passing out the sheet music. “I need all boys and girls to pair up! All pairs will be singing a duet of their choice. Pick your partners!” she yelled. I stared at Drake. He’s new so he won’t think anything of me asking to be his partner. He will probably be glad to be paired up with someone he knows.

I approached him,” Do you want to be my partner?” I sort of stammered. “Sure, what song do you want to sing?” I was paralyzed with awe. I couldn’t believe he was my partner. The new hottest guy in school was now my singing partner.

“I don’t know, you pick,” I stammered again. He reached for his backpack and took out his Ipod. He started flipping through his songs. He finally looked at me and said,” How about Jordin Sparks’ ‘No Air’?” he asked. I knew the song, so I said yes. “Great, so when do you want to rehearse it?” he asked. I hadn’t even considered this.

My thoughts were interrupted by Mrs. Earl,” Ok so now that everyone has their partners, please discuss rehearsal arrangements. And please note that you cannot rehearse here.” I just stared at her. Mrs. Earl was a very short, skinny women, with short, black hair. I focused my thoughts back to rehearsing. “We can rehearse at my house after school,” I told Drake.

Mrs. Earl and Drake were staring at each other very intently. It was like they were having a conversation without speaking. He quickly looked back to me, “Till what time?” he asked. His eyes were glowing. “Five,” I answered. This would mean he would be out of the house way before my parents got home. They would never allow me to be with a boy by myself for a minute. “Sweet,” he said,” So we’ll start tomorrow?” he said kind of excitedly. “Yeah that’s fine,”. I was starting to get excited too. The bell rang. “Ok I’ll see you tomorrow,” he said. He gathered his things and left.

After school I ran to Rayne’s car. “Drake’s coming to my house tomorrow!” I screamed at Rayne. “How did you get him too?” she asked with a hint of jealousy in her tone. I immediately told her the story of us being paired in MA. We rode to my house talking excitedly. I called Macey in the car and told her the news too. Tomorrow couldn’t come fast enough.

Nice job, this is a really cool story! I can kind of relate to Grey (strict parents who are nurses), which I like. Some of your punctuation for your dialogue is a bit off, though, and when a new person speaks each time you have to make a new paragraph.

I really like it though! Thumbs up!

Thank you for your review! And this is my first try at writing, so I wasn't really sure about writing the dialog, but your tips will help me in the future. So thanks!

wow! I really like it, it made me want to read more. I like how relatable you made it and I also enjoyed the characterisation that took place within such a short space of time. I also agree that when describing actions and whatnot you tended to simply state things rather than conjure an image or use more descriptve language. However I found this was just a minor con and wasnt a problem all the time. I honestly believe this will become a really developed story if this minor problem can be fixed, I cant wait to read more. Well done.

K imma review this!

First off, it's gray not grey when you were referring to the color of Grey's eyes.

The story has a really good concept.

The starting sentence pulls you in and makes you want to read more.

I liked the imagery for the most part, but there could have been more details added throughout the story such as what settings looked liked.

You kind of just stated every action the character did.

Try not to say "I did this." and "I did that." I have problems with that too.

I really want you to continue to write this story I wanna hear the rest of it!

Keep up the good work!
